Awesome job as always Mikey Pipes!! I want to thank you for sharing your knowledge Sir. I very much appreciate it! I got to install my first drop header steam boiler. Thanks to you I was the only one that knew what a drop header was! Thank again!!!
I’m genuinely curious because I walk into this kind of stuff all the time. But found no success with getting the homeowner to go with the correct solution (like turning around and telling them you don’t have enough pitch on multiple parts of their system.) What solutions did you offer the homeowner here? Repipe all exposed piping in the basement? Go around and try to readjust hangers throughout the entire basement? I’d love for a teaching moment in this situation because it’s so frustrating to constantly run into hacks work
If you pounce and say "wrong" when he tries to answer your question, he'll not want to answer your questions. He and you will do better with something like "that can be a problem sometimes but I think what's here is okay. I've seen something else that could be the cause".
I agree, but if you watch enough of these videos you'll quickly realise that Mikey is very impatient amongst other 'issues'. It's just one of the reasons I stopped watching a lot of Mikey Pipes videos. This one was better, but the quality of the content is nowhere near as good as it used to be. I keep hoping things will change and Mikey Pipes content will return to the quality and standards it used to have. I haven't unsubscribed...yet.
Great video. I’ve seen pipes pitched backwards. But the thought of them removing the asbestos insulation, and then sagging was a game changer. Thanks for the great advice Also. I sent you a message: email like 5 months ago about some Mikey pipes sticker’s. I still haven’t gotten them brother.
1:35 You must've been in a good mood or sumthin' Pipes because my man "Hose-A" broke the cardinal rule when servicing a gas appliance. I believe you fired a guy on the job for that very same thing.
What causes the pressure valve to blow open, boiler reaches 30 psi , then relief valve open , which it should, but what's cause to over pressure, should be in the 20s psi, I replaced the relief valve thinking it was bad, but did the same with new one
Are you sure the banging is caused from the steam exploding I thought it was the steam condensing and causing water to smash into the piping. Just checking asking the expert Mikey pipes.
Well?? Are multiple problems with that system the very first thing I noticed was absolutely no insulation whatsoever… if it was hot water heat?? It would be one thing but steam.?? you want to keep the water suspended in steam till it gets to the end of the run.. but wrong pitch on the piping is a big problem too… but if the automatic fill is working correctly, you really should not need to manually add water in a properly installed steam system.. I hate working with the glass sight tubes 😢 my luck of not cracking them is about 50%
The lack of insulation changes the load on the boiler too and creates the problem of too much condensate which will interfere with the movement of steam and make the water hammer a regular occurrence. The homeowner probably added water because they don’t understand the problem of poorly pitched pipes no insulation and years of incompetence. How do you justify the redesign of this system to the homeowner? Won’t they pass out from sticker shock when they get your estimate? Reworking the pitch of the pipes and insulation and fixing the wet and dry returns and proper venting at the end of steam mains adding thermostatic vents or steam traps and boiler controls and near boiler piping? It’s a lot of work for even a seasoned professional.
Im screaming at the screen NO WHITE SHIT! Insulation on steam is like art. I have a friend that does commercial. They do RO for the boiler water. Its crazy. Great video. Also are they missing a steam header.
Your a great guy .. however peter he could take the beating jose is a good guy be easy on him I definitely have more confidence with jose than you know who?? P
Great educational classes not just talk but learning and fixing as well

If Jose cleaned that sight glass... nice job. That scaling is tough to get out of there.

“Jose Jalapeño on a Stick” is what Jeff Dunham calls Jose. 😬👍

Sorry. Email me again. I’ll send out today
Where’s Peter? Did I miss something?
So what was the fix?
Follow up video? Thanks !

Whats the fix for this? I get repitching of the pipes but isnthat simply lifting a bracing or replacing pipes?
Let's not forget no main vents. Very important.
👍

Manufacturers of automatic water heaters typically require cold water going into the feeder
Hydrolevel says max 150 degrees. McDonnell Miller has contradiction in their manual. Either 120 or 175.
Mr. Mikey Pipes, Can Jose help us out with the Latina Chica's?

Jose jalapeño is a nickname to use
Hope everybody's having a happy hump day and I'm number one somehow someway so they say lol
Mike said Jose needs a nickname, I say no guey Jose
Did anyone else think that was a magic bucket? The water level doesn't rise!👻
His nickname is Hose B!
“No way” Jose 🤣
No way Jose….come on
So it's a simple fix then! Buy some PVC that's pre-pitched and a couple ferncos and a sawzall blade. You'll be out of there in 45 minutes.
Facts!! OMG how did I not think of that?
No Way Jose? 🤣🤣
Thanks for watching! What did you think of the video?
