The interesting thing is in the 40’s and 50’s westerns, when a baddie was head or body shot, they all fell forward. Wasn’t till the late 60’s that if someone was hit, that the momentum from the bullet drove them backwards.
The ony thing truthful about Ringo getting shot in the head is he actually was. And Doc and Wyatt were both outside of Arizona Territory when it happened. The shot to the head to open the gunfight in Open Range is classic.
A gruesome collection indeed. Of these, my 'favorite' would be the ones from The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, with the wry macabre perspective only from the Coen brothers.
At the end of the Wild Bunch, Lyle Gorch ( Warren Oates) is shooting his way to the machine gun with his Winchester 97. If you use slow motion, he hits one of the Mexican soldiers in the head with a shotgun blast.
Of all of them, I remember the one in Open Range the most. "Were you the one who killed my friend?" And the gunfighter just gloated about it. Bam! Justice is served. Talk about impact.
the first that springs to mind is the Preacher`s (Clint Eastwood) final Shot delivered to Stockburn (John Russell) in "Pale Rider" Ps while not a western , one of the most shocking scenes featuring a head shot has to be caitlin`s death by head shot in season 2 of "NCIS" , coming out of the blue right after she has just saved Gibbs by taking two shots to the chest (she was wearing a bulletproof vest) ment for him..
Another interesting video however, I would not count the scene from 'No Country for Old Men' as a headshot. Also in the 'Hateful Eight' Samuel L Jacksons character also kills Channing Tatum's character with a headshot.
A rare case where a headshot is used in a Western for *comedic* effect. . . . . . . . . . SPOILERS for *Rustler's Rhapsody* Rex O'Herlihan (wounded): You're not a good guy at all! Bob Barber: I'M A LAWYER, YOU IDIOT!! *BOOM - headshot* Peter: Rex, you shot him in the HEAD. How do you feel about that? Rex (still wounded): I missed his hand.
Pale Rider, the ending with Clint Eastwood vs. John Russell is another great one.
Thanks, noted.

You have an eye for detail:)
It's like with english tv series of Robin Hood until the ninety years, no dead normans with open eyes or blood were allowed..a German western lover.

Lee van cleef in a few dollars more is the classic headshot scene
Yes I remember now, thanks
Hi, "Wrangler"..., Excellent video and informative, and ( Thank you ) for sharing the video ! ! Excellent video... "Semper Fi" Mike in Montana :)

And here I thought this'd be about Old West studio photography...
I knew someone would say that:)

Very watchable.
@@famouspeople63The Coen's often wrote heady material....

A impressive list of course, but wtf they used in the Quick and the Dead for ammo? Uranium? Liked as always..

The Quick and the Dead was my favorite headshot. That's what it would look like in real life.
