Hey Chris wondering if you can help me figure out why I’m getting the current sound out of my Jetta…. I have a 2016 1.4t…. No tune of any kind,, but had cts intake plus a exhaust for past few years,, and then two weeks ago I got a replacement turbo (under warranty by VW) and then a cts downpipe and a high flow cat. Now, the exhaust sounds good,, but also in lower gears, while hitting the gas, it has a raspy ricer sound that is not very pleasing to the ear. (Once I’m in 4th & 5th you don’t hear it much) So I’m wondering, is this because I removed the resonator (that looked like a second muffler so actually just took off a year ago),, but do I need that back on to kill that raspy-note coming out of my exhaust? Should I put resonator back on, and remove high flow cat, or keep that on for now? Sorry for the short essay, I’m just tryna figure what the hell to do next and greatly appreciate your expertise! 🙏🏽💯
Hey my friend! No worries. I appreciate your comment. The downpipe changes the overal tone of your exhaust system. So the issue was caused by the downpipe. No to fix that you can get a “ vibrant resonator “ ( a smaller sized one in the mid section where the oem one was ) and you’ll be set. I recommend removing the actually muffler that’s al the way in the back and using a medium sized vibrant res where the old oem middle res was. That should give you a good tone. ALSO!!! Exhaust leaks can cause this. So check both!!! Good luck. Lmk
