Leighton's HOn3 Scale Garage Empire - Railroad Overview [MR101:1]
Вставка
- Опубліковано 7 вер 2024
- Leighton has been chomping at the bit to start building his model railroad, and wanted to show off some things along the way. In this video, we pretty much make a bunch of dumb jokes while doing an overview of what his plan for the layout is, and (a small amount of) work gets done on the layout. We've got more footage already, so let us know if you enjoy this look!

This screams early 2010s high school kids making a stupid video on their camcorder for fun. I WANT MORE
1-800-our aesthetic
Simpler times.
So, 1st, I have a feeling this layout will look great when it's done, 2nd, the intro is beautiful, 3rd, this entire channel is a gift from God, lol
i vote this as best comment
When you hear “We’re stupid! We are very stupid!” In the beginning, you know it’s going to be a great vid. 😂
Yessir!
Amen on that front.
@@BMMEC6000 haha nice to see you here railroad guy!
@@LMR78 how ironic. We see each other on a video about model trains!
You fellas have a winning formula with making these videos where we in the audience can feel like we’re right there with you, talking about all the best hobbies, and laughing at all the dumbest references! This is content I will watch, re-watch, and look for more of forever, and I bet I’m not the only one.
I genuinely cant wait to see how Leightons layout evolves.
Would love to see that T run too.
Totally would love to see more of Brent's model TT and Leightons scale railroad project
Holy cow.... the garage door opened without imploding!
16:52, you missed the opportunity there for the Moria mining company.
I applaud the references to Sandy, Spongebob and The Worm. The same goes for Hyce's impression of Freddy Mercury.
Finally we get to see the REAL trains on the channel.
Hyce was nerd enough but now there's 3 of him.
"He's just like every general contractor ever"
Brett's pain is my pain
What a way to spend a friday, absolutely want to see more.
I definitely would like to see more in this series
now THIS is the shitfuckery i signed up for!
Ford Model-T Truck! Finally a cab that Brett can fit his head in without needing to look over the top to operate it.
GIB MOAR 3/4? YES PLZ! Fun layout Leighton!
the es&d has a new rival railroad
Are we all gonna ignore the... I needa read up on my ford models but some flavor of old ass truck. 1920's era if I had to guess.
IT HAS AN AWOOGAH! IT HAS AN AWOOGAH!!!!!!!!
1925 Ford model TT, yes.
Please, yes, more of this series please! I love watching process videos for model railroad building.
I'd love to see more of the model railroad especially the. MONT*Cough*AGE!
The opening reminds me of some Film Studies sculduggery I did in high school. 😂 (also Brett’s REA Model TT and assorted chingaderras are total gems)
I USED to model railroad with the MSVRR here in Salinas, and their HUGE period layout is in the old REA building at the Salinas station)
I was just grinning during the entire opening sequence lol, good job XD
Really nice TT. Unexpected surprise. I have a 31 Model A Deluxe Roadster so truck caught my eye immediately.
I now want a layout series. This video has me wanting to build the one I always have thought about building but never made the room
That was fantastic fun! I'd love to see more of this. Having built a layout on pink foam, a lot of the construction aspects look quite familiar, but I always enjoy seeing them again combined with the goofy fun times of this channel.
Hyce being the supervisor making sure they don't mess anything up lol
Model T pickup!!!! Beautifuly restored
0:04 in and i already love the intro
I just love seeing you Brett and Leighton being chaotic train nerds so I would absolutely love more of this content! XD
I enjoyed this thoroughly and would love to see more. Always a fun time watching the 3/4 of one idiot videos
Great video, I had fun watching it. I’m a fan of model railroads and I’m building two right now, an HO children’s layout and my own N scale division point layout. See you in the engine shed.
Came for the trains...stayed for the "T" 😍
"getting high on potenuse" is way funnier to me than it should be lol. Definitely want to see more as the layout evolves!
Well... I wasn't expecting that coincidence. Sitting here sipping on a Coors and y'all bust out a stubby bottle of it.
I heard the montage tune, and it threw me back to when I played Sid Meiers: Railroads!
It's my own version of that arrangement of Chattanooga Choo Choo. Love that tune.
LOVED the intro!!!!!! Like the energy yinz have.
Tell Leighton his plan looks great. I hope he enjoys building the layout, as long as he takes his time I'm sure it will look wonderful.
Like the truck. One of my in-laws has 2 of them.
As another CE-type guy, I loved this video. Particularly the bits about "change orders" and "spirals". 😆😆 Can't wait to see how this turns out!
Right up your alley, lol!
Oh my GOD yes we need more!!! These are some of the best and most lighthearted and wholesome vids I've seen in a long time, and there's trains to just sweeten the deal!
SHEEP!! I love this, as I'm trying to come up with a design for an ho scale layout, heavily inspired by the southern railway (as I am from NC, the southern and N&W have a special place in my heart). Such a fun video full of helpful tips for layout building. I've watched this so many times, love listening to the banter!
I LOL'd. Also, Leighton is going to kick himself when he discovers the magic of hot wire foam tools over that knife for the negative space. And I'm a bit jealous of the space for that layout, even if it could store another TT or White or something.
I have a hot wire cutter and I need to get a hot knife!
@@leightonmoreland oh the hot knife in dangerous! Can use it to modify it mastic kits and stuff so easily!
Also I am pretty jelly you got a kitwood turntable kit before they stopped making the HOn3 ones. Those look so cool.
i wish i had friendslike yours they seem like so much fun
Alright 55 seconds ago, no views. time to watch it.
“No views”
Oh my god. The opening! 😂
I used to have a 15'x6' U shaped HO scale layout in our barn, but had to take it down so we would have room for our 69 Mustang and 52 Farmall Cub projects that we started.
Since then I have started a small 6'x3' N scale layout in a corner of the shop with an extra track running to the edge of the table if I ever want to extend it when we have more room.
This also brings back great memories of my first layout that I built with my dad close to 15 years ago.
We had that layout in the basement of our old house and it was a giant 21'x14'x4' J. We also had a 4'x8' foot oval for a short time.
Sadly I ran most of those engines into the ground and very few of them still run, but I still have most of the rolling stock.
MORE of this please!
So, the reason that Elmer's glue is SO MUCH BETTER than the stuff we used to drink in grade school is because that is a VERY different formula. The Elmer's Glue is school is still just as bad, but that stuff there is PVA glue. It's WAY better at sticking.
24 inch curves? Man... That is luxurious compared to the 6"-7" curves I crammed into an electric bass case! ...of course, I'm doing N scale, but BUT! I did find passenger cars and a steam engine that will actually take curves that tight!
Watching you guys talk about model train was just to much for me, so funny
The railroad comes with its own Rule G violation already installed!
A little late, but definitely want to see some more of this! Really interested in seeing the final product for sure and how it all turns out!
Mmmm the Coors comes out and I have a sudden urge to drive a Black Trans Am across the country
I saw the title from my periferal vision and read 'HNO3 empire. That would be quite spectecular.
I know it ain't for sale, but I'm actually looking to buy a Model T project and Brent's is awesome.
Lol, nice Name for the mine. I dig the DS9 reference
Brett's Ford TT is really great, green and it looks like it is driveable and running I guess.
It does run and drive, though the kinks have not all been worked out.
@@Hyce777 what's he missing if I may ask? 🙏🏻 Great video once more with your friends 💪🏻
@@bjrnfrederiksson2505 I am not 100% certain. It's an odd beast to drive and we're not confident with longer trips with it yet.
@@bjrnfrederiksson2505 Enough nerve to take it on the open road, and a top lol...
@@guppybob it's a wonderful looking car and back then the timing, spark and fuel makes it difficult to drive if you ask me. I know a little bit about these old cars so. If I can help I want to.
More modeling definitely
We need more of this
Could we also get a walk around and break down on that beautiful GTO of yours one day?
Would love to see more
Mr Hyce, You seem like a very cool guy to hang out with!! Awesome sense of humor, as well as your whole crew at the CRRM!! Would love to hang out with you guys!
Definitely need more of this! 😂
Tune in tomorrow. ;)
@@Hyce777 🙌🏻
Please sir. I want some more.
For real. As someone who wants to get into model trains. This is neat. Also the shanagins are amazing.
Can ya make this a series? Please?
Sold
I so wanted Mark to yell, "DESTROY THE VACUUM!".
Love the car
I really like this style of video I have to say this one and the railroad jeopardys are my favorite ones
The Gunnison/Blue Mesa Reservoir area is very close to my family's fishing cabin
It’s close to mine’s too!
@@leightonmoreland Nice! Fly fish or lake fish?
@@HoofmanJones030397 fly!
@@leightonmoreland Nice, same here! What's the biggest you've caught?
This makes me wish I had friends like this 😅
Gosh I love this. I also relate to the having a degree and doing things no were near what I majored in.
More, more please I beg you mooooooore!
This is really cool setup you are making sofar and I shared this video to a friend of mine that likes N scale and has made many of train layouts.
Cool Ford One Ton TT truck.
Didn't know he had a Model T. Ha
Cant park on a hill? I took a metal end of track bumper and coupler box. some jb weld, a file, some plasticard, some model glue. Jb weld the coupler to the track bumper. I use bachmann ezmate couplers on the bumper (kaydees on the models) i rigged a turnout switch to a magnet. You throw the switch and the magnet slides under the bachmann ez mate coupler and jogging the magnet back and fore the coupler will open. Just make sure you have a locomotive or a wheel chalk or the obvious will happen.
That's a neat trick!
Amazing video bro
This is great
You guys are to model trains what Blind guardian are to heavy metal. And I love me some Blind Guardian ;D
Of course we can feature the GTO on the channel... We just need to Hi-rail it first of course!
Then it suddenly qualifies for the channel as rail equipment :P
Sid Meyer's Railroads soundtrack! Lovely!
EDIT: I would love to see more of this series. I actually model in O-scale so there's a big difference between you and me, but still I enjoy modeling.
It's the soundtrack formerly from railroads online, not Sid Meier's. ;)
@@Hyce777 That's funny, because during the first timelapse/montage section a song was played that sounded EXACTLY, note-for-note, like the main menu theme from Sid Meyer's Railroads. (Which I just finished playing a session of before watching the video so I know what I'm talking about.)
Sorry Hyce. I know you worked hard on that soundtrack. However, even if it's not exact, it's still too close and under copyright.
@@TheOneTrueDragonKing it's my own version of the same song. They're both covers of "Chattanooga Choo Choo," which, with the untimely demise of Glenn Miller means the song has been in public domain for a while. The SMR version is only about 90 seconds long, and mine is several minutes long with some more instrumentation.
You can tell it's mine because the mandolin doesn't sound near as nice. I've got a shitty mandolin and unfortunately it's a pretty hefty pricetag to get a nice one, and it's not my go to instrument whatsoever.
@@Hyce777 Fair enough, however copyright lasts eighty years from the creator's death, plus the point of creation of the material in question.
Since Glenn Miller died in 1944, copyright on his creations will not expire until 2024 at least. You'll be able to use that song in two years, until that point it's still considered under copyright, not public domain.
Additionally, if his estate executor chooses to extend the copyright, then unfortunately it remains copyrighted.
You need authorization from the Glenn Miller estate to use it for any projects you're getting money for, and a portion of the proceeds goes to his estate as a royalty payment.
@@TheOneTrueDragonKing I'd suggest you brush up on your copyright laws again. ;)
Lads being lads 👌
Lmfao! You guys make me miss my friends!
it's badged for the Railway Express Agency = it's on topic!
the only major downside to Model RR's built in Garages is difficulty with Temp Control.
the one item that will wreck havoc on trackwork.
I take it he doesn't have a proper indoor space to build his layout in such as the ubiquitous Basement Layout!
where is the Mystery Citrus!
would be awesome if someone did the guiness brewery, with a tap at the end of the line
I've been hoping to see the trains.
Love the video hyce.
Oh, No. I understood pretty much all that went on in this video. Does that mean I'm hy on potenuse? (BTW, Why would you trig anything when you've got CAD?) Looks to me like this layout is being built half on ideas and half on smart assedness. Pretty great. BTW, I think the Railway Express truck might be slightly out of scale. Also, Love that T-shirt.
50% good ideas, 50% dumbass, 50% smartass
The memes are too real
Great video I would love to see more in this series
The exciting of trains
This is awesome, can’t wait to see more!
I really need to start working on my layout. Let me know if you want to see the 01483 caboose sometime! Just need to come to the springs lol
Of course I want to! Maybe in January. Shoot me a reminder then, I'd love to have it on the channel :)
technically a model railroad is full scale in miniature and it can haul... so its real!!!
what a bunch of nerds... love it. be careful with the singing, it's so good you might get blocked over copywrite violations...
Nice model t man
Make more model railroad vids please, but make sure to include a bowl of lime slices
I want to get some more HOn3 stuff
all I've got rn is an RGS Caboose
I need more MORE
