Fun fact, the 2007 Patriots, 2015-16 Golden State Warriors, 2001 Seattle Mariners and 1995-96 Detroit Red Wings have the most regular season wins in their respective sports' history. NONE of them won the Championship that year
And the 1906 Cubs, though they managed to win the next two…before going into a 108 year drought which included four decades in the middle where they didn’t even make the postseason once (1946-1983)
I feel like 2007 was when we really saw the transition to the more pass-happy NFL that we see today. The best 4 teams all year (Patriots, Colts, Cowboys, Packers) all went to a lot more spread and shotgun looks with 3 WR as their base packages and lots of 4-5 WR plays. The Colts had done it for a few years already at that point, but the Pats took it to another level. As a Packers fan I remember Favre being in shotgun more than ever that year. That's also why the Giants were able to shock everyone and win the Super Bowl; their system was the perfect kryptonite against the spread offense.
2021 was one of the best seasons ever too imo. Damn near every prime time game was fantastic. MNF, SNF & often even TNF, all loaded with competitive, memorable games. Combine that with some awesome playoff games, including a record breaking, damn near perfect offensive game & an all-time classic in KC, capped off with a competitive SB - truly a great season 👍👍👍
it was one of the best seasons ever but i wasn't huge on the super bowl. kind of reminded me of the kc vs sf super bowl a couple years ago. not bad but not great either. it wasn't the seahawks vs pats 2014 classic level excitement that i expected considering how great the playoffs had been up until that point.
yeah I must agree that this season was indeed amazing. As you mentioned, pretty much every single prime time game in 2021 was worth watching, and there were a ton of classics. The manningcast was an absolute hit, and the decision to try a new broadcasting style absolutely paid off. There were a ton of amazing individual accolades in 2021 as well. Tom Brady getting the passing record, Kupp getting the second most receiving yards ever and OPOY, TJ Watt tying the sack record and DPOY, and Jonathan Taylor had an amazing year rushing. There were also several great rookies in 2021, with JaMarr Chase, Micah Parsons, and Kyle Pitts standing out above the rest. The playoffs were simply the best I've ever seen, one classic game after another. Bills chiefs might go down as the greatest game ever played, and the Rams were a great story, getting rings to veterans like Stafford and Donald by winning the Super Bowl in their home stadium no less. And who can forget the bengals, going from three straight last place finishes to an unexpected division title and a magical playoff run that saw them nearly win it all. Even the raiders team they beat in the first round deserves a shoutout, making the playoffs after their head coach got fired and best wide receiver made the D.A.R.E mascot very disappointed in him. This past season was one of the best the NFL had in a long time, let's hope the next one can provide us with a worthy encore. The only bad thing was that the giants were garbage last season, but since I went to their game against the rams, that means I watched a super bowl winning team play in person with my own eyes. :)
I loved that 2007 NCAA season. Every week was a meltdown full of chaos and no one had a clue at to who would gonna finish in the BCS title game besides LSU
2007 was insane as a Georgia fan because the one loss that likely kept us from playing LSU for a spot in the BCS Title game was a FG fest against South Carolina that was like 9-6. To be fair, every single Top 25 had some unexpected weird loss that year.

But after that, it'd be open season on me, and he wasn't going to intervene. This was the very first season I (37m) started watching football. I was roped into replacing a no-show in my buddy's fantasy league so I started learning the rules and following the games. I picked up Brady and Moss on my way to placing 2nd overall and I was hooked. To this day I have a hard time figuring out whether Devin Hester or Darrelle Revis is my all time favorite player. I am a Jets fan.
There's an online S.I article about the 2007 NFC Championship from players perspectives - mostly on being out in the freezing weather. But a great read. It mentions a few players who have no idea what Coughlin said during half time, because they were just looking at his face.
I am a Packers fan and I can definitely say watching that Giants at Packers game live at home... That Favre throw for an Interception is still vividly planted in my brain lmao. This entire season was a wild ride for sure
I think I have a little bit of bias toward 2012 since it was the season my team won the Super Bowl, but I also think that was a truly incredible year as well. First of all, it was the last time a running back won MVP. What else? The Patriots had one of the most prolific offenses in history. Not to mention the emergence of the Manning-led Broncos, Colin Kaepernick, J.J. Watt’s first DPOY season, RG3 and Andrew Luck’s incredible rookie performances, and the birth of the Legion of Boom. Also, the Falcons could have made the Super Bowl if not for a controversial ending to the NFC Championship. Plus some incredible statistical showcases from Aaron Rodgers and - super shockingly - the Cowboys offense! And now, let’s get to that Ravens Super Bowl run: we barely made it into the playoffs with a 10-6 record and people hugely criticizing Flacco and writing us off as not as all being contenders. Before Wild Card weekend, our greatest defensive player of the generation announces he will be retiring. And then we trounce Andrew Luck, beat the top-seeded Broncos after a miraculous touchdown and double overtime, kick Tom Brady’s ass in the AFC Championship game, and then the Super Bowl…what else can I say? The head coaches of both teams are brothers, a surefire blowout almost turns into the largest Super Bowl comeback ever after a power outage, and then that nailbiting goal line stand. I was in seventh grade and I still get chills remembering it. I pretty much summed everything up there, but I’d love it if you did a video on 2012 as well.
@@mariosnum1fan if you liked them a lot you should request that he do videos on those too. I personally also thought 2011 was great mainly because it was the “year of the quarterback” (I recommend you check out the NFL throwback video on that of you haven’t yet), the Giants beat the Patriots in the SB again, and Terrell Suggs won DPOY. The AFC Championship that year was a painful memory for me for a while, but it honestly doesn’t bother me anymore because our loss to the Titans in 2019 was way worse lol. I try to mostly forget about 2013 because it was a down year for us, but that season was interesting too, especially with how it ended with the Broncos Seahawks Super Bowl and the outcome of that game. Either way, I love that he started this series and would watch any video on it.
I remember when the Lions were 6-2 after that win against the Broncos (Shaun Rogers ended up saving that game in the 4th.). Then we ended up going 7-9 that year. The 2nd team that was the best, the 2007 Cowboys. That team went 12-1 that year. The one Week 13 game against the both 10-1 Packers and Cowboys was amazing. I have no idea if any residents did get the Week 13 TNF game on DirecTV or Comcast. I actually didnt watch that game because it was a school night for me. I was only 7. The playoffs of the 2007 year was amazing. I watched the Seahawks in the Wildcard ended up beating the Redskins. The Divisional round was very very intense for me. Brett Favre got his last playoff win against the Seahawks at Lambeau Field. Laurence Maroney for the Patriots had a good game (upon my mothers comments about him). Tom Brady had 3 touchdowns against the Jaguars. Then the next day, I watched most of the 4th quarter of the Giants Cowboys game when Brandon Jacob's threw the ball into the play clock. The Giants won 21-17. I watched the radio highlights the next day. It was amazing. The conference championship with the Patriots going 18-0 was amazing. I could NOT believe Philip Rivers played with a torn ACL and still lost 21-12. I remember coming home from a birthday party and listening to it on Radio. Then, the Superbowl. I could not believe I went to bed at almost 8:45 pm while the Pats were leading 7-3, and ended up hearing the next day that they lost 17-14. I gosh darn understand it was a school night, but my brain should of said "Devin, please watch more of the Superbowl till the end." 😂. Apparently, 2007 was a fun year for all football fans. Even, I was dealing with craziness at school (and on the bus) during that time. I spent most of the weekends watching the NFL 2007 year with my parents.
I remember after this super bowl I had to work an overnight shift and my co-worker was a huge Giants fan. I had never seen someone so happy. Then it happened again and he was even happier
I’m a Steelers fan at heart but my mom loves the giants, and the 07 giants were something special. Genuinely got emotional at the end of the video. Great job Mr Brandon Perna.
I was in Iraq, Baghdad with 10th mtn div as a 88 Mike during this year. I had the Madden game on gba with Brett Favre on the cover. Thanks for the memories.
I'm a huge giants fan and this year I was diagnosed with a plastic anemia. Watching the giants that season, along with the wild season Kentuckys football team had in college, helped a ton with my recovery. I will never forget this season. Greatest season in NFL history? To me for sure
That Super Bowl was amazing, I remember that 4th quarter, that helmet catch and the joy of watching the G-Men spoiling the Pats' perfect season. You can win 18, but if you lose the big one, it doesn't even matter. The 2007 season ended with the 1972 Miamin Dolphins drinking champagne, like they always do after their undefeated season is preserved.
I’ve watched this a few times but every time he gets to the joke about Philip Rivers super swimmers marking a temporary ACL I can’t help but laugh every time. This really is good sports.
Would you have time to do Balls Deep during the season or is it only in the Off-season? What a fun trip down memory lane. Written and delivered well. Very good job Will/Perna.
1:35 it's crazy to see how the DPOY race has evolved in just the last 15 years, such a variety of players in the top 10 and specifically top 5 for voting. A Safety won the award, an interior lineman finished 2nd, 2 corners were in the top 7. Now every year its just "Pass Rusher, Pass Rusher, Pass Rusher, DB with the most picks, Pass Rusher, Pass Rusher, Pass Rusher..."
The only thing that I miss about that season was watching Skip having a meltdown when the Giants beat the Cowboys in the playoffs and winning the Superbowl over the Patriots.
this was the year I started watching football, the year that made me a patriot fan, the year my favorite player became randy moss, and the saddest ending to a year I've had in football close to 2011. A rollercoaster start for football for me (22 today), and it was marvelous
With the way it ended (and the massive amount of heat I got during the 2nd half of high school for being a fan of the team), I'm glad I started to be more of a Patriots fan and buy Patriots gear the following year. It's really unknown, but had the Patriots gotten the perfect ending, I might've bought some Patriots gear for my birthday later in 2008 (aka Super Bowl shirts and maybe a jersey) rather than start getting gear for Christmas that year.
I remember that session like it was yesterday being a giant fan you will always remember and also what happened to big shawn Rogers he was a beast at D tackle
Aside from my Giants winning the Super Bowl, I just want it to be 2007 because I'd be young again with my whole life ahead of me. Thanks for this video man.
Id rather not remember tomlin's first season since the jaguars beat the Steelers at home twice that year and jaguars are the only team to do so (jaguars would do it again btw)
I still remember that helmet catch. Me and a guy named Ricky, who hated each other then and still do now, were watching it because my brother invited him over. We flipped out and actually hugged each other when it happened.
I just discovered this channel two days ago and I must say this is the funniest sports videos I have ever seen. I have been laughing my ass off nonstop. My hat is off to you sir for your amazing humor! Keep up the great work!
For what amounts to off season filler material, it is far superior to the filler material of a certian billion dollar cable sport news network. That's Good Video.
Part of the reason why I love football is because of this season. We were watching the NFC championship in Estes park and I saw that Payton Manning won Super Bowl MVP the year before and I said “wouldn’t it be cool if Eli won a Super Bowl this year?” My dad, actually having seen the season just laughed at me. Lo and behold, two weeks later the Giants won.
It ended up being a double-whammy for my oldest brother. He had to watch his division rival knock off his team in the Divisional Round and his other team in the Super Bowl. I'm glad I wasn't as big a Patriots fan I would go on to be. If it was the version of me from a couple of yrs later, Super Bowl 42 would've been beyond devastating.
Fun Fact: This year had Madden 08, the last good Madden game. It was after this year, that pieces had started being taken out, only to be called 'features' when put back in Amazing year. One of the best for football and last great Madden game
Bob Sanders was the most deserving defensive back to receive the defensive MVP award. I think sports Nation and John Boice included him in a special they ran. Bob Sanders, his time on the field elevated the colts defense to top three in the league when he was on the field. Whenever Bob Sanders was not on the field from 06-10, the Indianapolis colts defense was middle of the pack at best. There was actually a direct correlation between points per game, ranking of the defense, and yards given up and Bob Sanders being in the lineup during those years.

20:00 “Plaxico Burress shooting the Patriots instead of himself” I laughed so freaking hard at that joke 😂😂😂
I am a Packers fan and I can definitely say watching that Giants at Packers game live at home... That Favre throw for an Interception is still vividly planted in my brain lmao. This entire season was a wild ride for sure
As a Giant fan it was a magical season ✨
I needed this as a Giants fan because this was the year that made me a fan.
Yeah 2012 was the best NFL Season of all time
@@cynicaleze3231 idk if you watch KTO but he actually just did a video about 2012 within the last week. It’s a pretty good summary, I’d recommend it.
2012 was mid. The season before and the season after were better
I liked this video format, fun to remember the craziness of past seasons
I remember after this super bowl I had to work an overnight shift and my co-worker was a huge Giants fan. I had never seen someone so happy. Then it happened again and he was even happier
More videos like this please! Maybe not necessarily on full seasons every time, but things like weird games, plays, etc.
As a lifetime Packers fan with a lifetime Giants fan for a friend, the 2007 season STILL stings!
Can’t believe it’s been 15 years.
09:15 - I remember this game so well. I still have my throwback t-shirt from this game.
Ranking nfl seasons is something have not thought about until now and its sound like a fun project
I'm a huge giants fan and this year I was diagnosed with a plastic anemia. Watching the giants that season, along with the wild season Kentuckys football team had in college, helped a ton with my recovery. I will never forget this season. Greatest season in NFL history? To me for sure
I always forget how much I loved the 2007 season. Madden 08 also was one of the games that really got me into pro football.
This was a great video. My favorite joke was Philip’s temporary ACL :)
I can’t say that 2007 was one of my favorite seasons. Being a Jets fan stuck in the same division as the Spygatriots.
this was the year I started watching football, the year that made me a patriot fan, the year my favorite player became randy moss, and the saddest ending to a year I've had in football close to 2011.
Rest in peace Sean Taylor
never seen any of this guy's videos before and just subscribed based on the first 30 seconds, great vibe.
I remember that session like it was yesterday being a giant fan you will always remember and also what happened to big shawn Rogers he was a beast at D tackle
In depth looks are developed so well on this channel. I enjoy that you can have bathroom humor, yet high football intellect.
I wasn't watching football before 2010, so I really enjoyed this video (and all of your videos). Thanks for all the great content.
Can we talk about Chester Taylor being a back up in both the 295 game and the 296 game?
For what amounts to off season filler material, it is far superior to the filler material of a certian billion dollar cable sport news network. That's Good Video.
Damn, I forgot all about Bob Sanders …. He really was a talent that could of been a great great
The dude played with 0 concern for his health. Hit players like a freight train. Unfortunately this playing style caught up with him
2007 was the year I fell in love with football, underrated year that a lot of people forget
As a bitter Packers fan, I remember saying at the end of the Packers-Giants game "Well, the Giants had better beat the damn Patriots, too."
These deep dives are my favorite videos you make honestly. I hope they do well so you keep making them :)
That was a great segment going down memory lane. Thank you.
In 2007 I had Ladanian Tomlinson, ZAdrian Peterson, Randy Moss and Larry Fitzgerald on my fantasy team. Dominated.
McCarthy coached GB in 2006 but still cool video and a fun season to watch and look back on
Absolute banger of a vid Brandon! Had no idea icing the kicker was such a new thing
What a nice storytelling Perna :) thanks! Great video
Do more of these season review's please! Broncos 2013 and 16 seasons?
This is why I still play madden 08 on the PS2 … 2007 was the first season I ever TRULY remember and it was pure heat 🔥
bro I caught all of these references as a 2008 baby 💀 this is the lasting impact the 2007 season had. It literally paved the way for the 2010’s
I started my job I'm about to leave soon that year, and that's also the year I really started getting into football. The memories...
This is excellent work. You should do this for more seasons!
So well done! Great job Brandon. Thank you!
As a Dolphins fan watching the joy drain from a Pats face when he caught pass made my year!
As a mid 20s giants fan, this season was one of the first core memories as a giants fan, love to see it
Please continue with these deep dive series it's cool to watch.
Fun Fact:
This year had Madden 08, the last good Madden game.
It was after this year, that pieces had started being taken out, only to be called 'features' when put back in
Amazing year.
You should do the 2016 year now that was interesting
Truly an epic season. Fantastic video!
2007 had one of the craziest college football seasons ever too
AD was one of my favorites RB's to watch he was untouchable in his prime
Man… I miss some of our legendary players from back then, what a great time it was to be a Colts fan!
Watched this Superbowl when I was a kid. I could never have imagined how amazing it truly was in hindsight
This was the first year I watched football. Honestly when I think back to it it means the world to me
You should make this a series.
what’s crazy is that 2007 is also arguably the greatest college football season ever as well
Man I’ll never forget watching the chargers beat the colts in those beautiful powder blues. That was an amazing night.
Plaxico Burress shooting the patriots and not himself. Yeah that one got me. 😂
Giants Super Bowl wins are all upsets or "How the Hell did they make it here?!"
These balls deep videos get me so hyped for football season. God, I love this sport
I’m a Patriots fan so you know I clicked on this video fully prepared just because of how great the entire NFL was in 2007, thanks for teaching them kids, though I thought that was Grossi’s job
Well done. Great reminder
