    A piece of advice for troopers, or those who intent to join the military: Just ignore everything you saw in the video and buy yourself a G-shock. Preferably with the solar charging option (tough solar), which you can find for about $100-150. And it's better to be full digital, than analog, because pure digital movements has no moving parts (hands), thus they're always less sensitive to hard use.
    Few additional notes...
    - Never buy a watch with mechanical movement. Quartz is the only option. The Hamilton from this video is a joke. It's an expensive mechanical watch, which can break much easier than literally any quartz. Even a $15 Casio is a much better option.
    - The same goes for smart watches. Smart watches and military just don't go together.
    - Rather avoid those super big, triple sensor G-shocks. They are just too bulky and cumbersome, which can become a bit of a problem when handling weaponry. And you'll find out that you don't need most of those functions.
    - Never buy a digital watch with a negative display (black display with white numbers). It may look cool, but visibility is much worse on a bright sunny day.
    Hope this helps.

      I was planning to buy Mechanical Watch but I saw your comment. I want to buy solar watch and I am confused about Casio Solar and Battery Watches. Which one should I Buy. Please Advise.

    • @damyr
      @damyr Рік тому +1

      @@Siju2235 The only difference is that in a solar watch the battery will last much longer, because it's powered by solar cells.
      Battery in solar watches will last for 10 years minimum, tho in most cases I've seen (here on yt), they still keep going on with their 1st battery even after 15-20 years. It always depends of usage, of course.
      Btw, bear in mind that the illuminator function wastes the most of battery power.
      On the other hand, battery in ordinary watches can last anywhere between 2-7 years. Tho, there are some Casio models advertising with a 10 year battery.
      In any case, you can't go wrong, because changing a battery is cheap and easy, and you can even do it by yourself, without much effort, if you're inclined to diy. There are many tutorials on yt.
      A solar powered battery will last more. So, I'd always advise you to go with it.
      The only downside of solar watch is that most of such models are a bit more expensive. But I'd say it's definitely worth it.
      G-shocks are the best. The cheapest models go for $50... up to few thousands (there's a premium branch).
      I have a square G-shock GW-B5600... tough solar, waveceptor (radio signal receiver), timer, stopwatch, world time, alarm, 20 bar of proven WR... it costed me $150, 2 years ago.
      It's not bulky, it's comfortable to wear, it's incredibly reliable and accurate, it's built like a small tank and it can survive anything you throw at it. There are plenty of yt videos proving G-shock toughness and reliability.
      Btw, I've turned off its radio signal reception for 3 months, and during that time it lost only 1.5 seconds.
      If you're not going to wear it for some time, avoid to keep it in a dark place (like a drawer), and just place it in a spot where there's enough light to keep its battery full. It charges itself on any type of light.
      Also, if you want to go with an analog model, there are some good models in the video, and I would also recommend Citizen Eco-drive (meaning solar powered) models. All in all, there's plenty of good choice out there.
      There you go. If there's any other question, I'm here. Glad I can help.

      @@Siju2235 Take a look at the GW-M 5610U-1ER. Rather small, but tough as a nail, solar powered, radio controlled, 200 m water resistant. Imho you don’t need more than what this watch offers. Maybe upgrade with a NATO watch strap and you should be good to go.

    • @zacharyjoyner7010

      Which g shock would you recommend being the best bang for buck?

    • @damyr
      @damyr 9 місяців тому

      @@zacharyjoyner7010 For G-shocks, a good rule is the cheaper is the beater, the better.
      Tho, there are some models which are a bit more expensive than the cheapest ones, but they offer more functionality with Tough Solar, Multiband 6 and/or Bluetooth. Like square GW-B5600 (which is my choice).
      If you prefer round watches, ana-digi GA-2000 is a good choice. No solar, MB6 nor BT, but it looks great, and it's a bit tougher with a Carbon core guard. It also features bigger buttons, which makes it easier to operate (even with gloves).
      If you prefer something more elegant, smaller and not as thick, ana-digi GAB-2100 (so called Casioak) is a good choice. They also feature Tough solar and Bluetooth.
      GAS-100 is also good, but it's without BT.
      A full digital G-231OR is probably rare to find, but it looks good. GW-6900 is a classic looking model with solar cells, but I personally don't like the looks.
      The fact is, whatever model you choose, you can't miss and you'll get a watch which will last you for life and will never let you down. Also, you may stay assured that you're buying the best watch in the world. Nothing, literally nothing, is better than a G-shock.
      My additional piece of advice... Just stay away from negative display models (grey-white numbers on a black background). They may look fancy, but they have legibility issues.

    I’ve worn Luminox for decades and must say they are hard to beat; the tritium vials are bistable at night for 15+ years and don’t require a second hand to turn the light on. The one recommendation I’d make regardless of the case you get, composite or stainless, I’d say the sapphire crystal is a must as it is near impossible to scratch and stays like new for years.

    • @Invisible_Socks

      @@Invisible_Socks: Tritium isn’t cheap; you can buy a base model luminox for $100 which doesn’t seem very overpriced to me. I’m sorry you feel ripped off but if you don’t want the tritium then just get a timex for less as, at least to me, they’re a very similar watch and marketing concept, “take a licking keep on ticking”.

    • @libertarian1637
      @libertarian1637 Рік тому +1

      @@mikebussart2575: Because they just break or stop working? I have ad one that I bought off E-Bay that while it looked quite real I think it was a knock-off which worked until a jolt made the hands contact each other and it stopped working; when I tried to repair it I opened it up and it just looked fake on the inside with plastic parts. I’ve also owned a few other ones bought through dealers or authorized sellers and haven’t had an issue with them, I have one that’s over 20 years and while the tritium is massively dimmer than when it started it still works. The best thing I’ve done with them is to get the sapphire crystal models which just don’t get scratched like their mineral glass can. I used to wear Times as they were cheap and just worked and I’d just replace them when they got too scratched or occasionally because the battery died. I have put new batteries in my Luminox and while I don’t remember the type I’ve tended to always get at least 5 years of battery life; I’ve gotten to the point of just replacing batteries in them at 5year increments as then I’m not caught by a stopped or slow watch.

      allegedly there is only ONE authorized dealer/repair shop in the country (in Florida) and i sent it there for an estimate for repair. it needed a new face, new crystal, new movement and a new case. the bezel i think was still okay.
      it was barely under the cost of a new one, albeit according to that "authorized" shop, i priced out a "non-authorized" watch reseller.
      ive got one of their $120 sentry watches and its my 2nd because the stem got bent on it when it got knocked from the kitchen counter to a WOODEN floor. i managed to get it replaced under warranty i think.

    Chris Hemsworth's character in the movie Extraction !

      Yup, it's just like that.
      I've been in the military and I can say, none of those worth it, some lack features, others are too much high tech.
      If you are in the army or know a thing or two about survival, just go for the Casio GB-100 series, two year battery, chronograph, analog hand to find the north, it has good water protection and it doesn't cost a kidney.

    I believe that this list is incomplete and a little bit spotted. Timex is definitely a low quality "candy watch", Luminox it's much more "brand" than a tool and many others "real" one completely forgot such Chase Durer, Zodiac, Suunto Spartan series, Squale, Officine Meccaniche Panerai....

      Solar isn’t a perfect solution either. Especially when sunlight is limited. Not to hard to keep a spare battery in your gear for a quick changeout. I have both, they have their plus and minuses.

    Nope, that Rangeman is way over priced and unavailable for the most part. The MUDMASTER is number 1. Anything that is GPS depended takes way too much battery power currently. You are better off with a watch that can give you the needed info along with the use of a far more accurate map that you have on hand. Change my mind.

    2:57 I'm sorry? The nylon strap resists extreme changes in pressure and altitude? It's a fookin' nylon strap. How exactly are pressure and altitude going to affect it? Would other straps explosively decompress? Will they disintegrate under extreme pressure? That's some bullshit you're talking there.

    Ohh, dear!! Lots of pure fantasy and sales tricks here.
    Young soldiers! Don't be fooled, you don't need any of this crap.
    Rule nr1. No battery, nothing that beeps. Must be mechanical or automatic caliber.
    Rule nr2. No fancy complications. The more buttons, the more crap there is that can break.
    Rule nr3. Use a NATO strap or similar (no metallic chains or even worse rubber straps).
    Rule nr4. Stay below 44mm (your wrist is not that big and a big watch will get in the way).
    Rule nr5. Fluorescent dots helps more than fancy numbers. If you don't remember the numbers on the watch, we are all fu#@ed anyway.
    Rule nr6. Keep it simple, as simple as possible.
    After 37 years of running around in wars and in the world's different shitholes, I can only advise you to keep it as simple as possible.

    I properly hate the auto-read of the script. Makes it really difficult to follow as there’s no intonation in the voice. Most “proper” military watches tell the time and not much else. All the toys may sound great, but wouldn’t talk to the battle systems, so are pretty useless in the field. These are more a macho toy

  • @duffers29
    @duffers29 2 роки тому +1

    Don’t fall for this consumerism shite , a military watch 🤣🤣, a watch should just tell the time , if u need all the other tec that’s on these watches you shouldn’t be in the military. A £20 timex done me fine in N.I , Iraq , Jordan , Belize (Jungle) , Cyprus on Ops and exercise.
