Exactly right... I even began to wonder if I really like ST that much because I haven't watched any of the new series or movies... Turns out I do like it, when it's done right, with Gene's spirit in there, like Axanar.
It reminds me how utterly STARVED I am for real entertainment. I've given up on TV and Hollywood, generally. For some deep feast of good science fiction, well told, I'd really enjoy and savor.
Eh, JJ's Star Trek movies were fun takes on an alternate Federation. At least they made a reason why many things were different (it being a different timeline) rather than what Discovery did, which is say it was taking place in the same universe as TOS, TNG, etc.
It's a crying shame that this fate of this project was decided by the courts. Axanar should have been allowed to be completed. This short clip, as well as the Prelude to Axanar short, was hands down better than anything to come out under the name of Star Trek from Hollywood for such a long time.
If you know Star Trek history within the company, you know that Star Trek has always been Paramount's "go to" cash cow. Whenever they have a run of movies bomb at the box office and lose money, they always make another Star Trek movie to recoup their loss. Therefore, they are scared to death whenever ANYTHING threatens this franchise, including the fans, which is why this lawsuit was filed so quickly in response to Axanar. After fifty years, they haven't yet figured out that the fans are the ones funding their little enterprise (sorry for the pun). These fans expect the established quality in Star Trek to be there in the delivered product, and if it is not there, they will create it themselves. Paramount/CBS doesn't know how to deal with that.
20+ years and CBS/paramount couldn't come-up with anything as interesting as Axanar. Even Mr. Abrams best effort was recycling the Wrath of Khan (which was still great BTW). But yeah, those guys just don't have any IMAGINATION!
Paramount is in huge financial trouble. They don't have funding to make a blockbuster Star Trek 4 and both Chris Pine and Hemsworth bailed on the movie when they were offered less money.
This is the most wonderful depiction of Vulcan. Paramount should Embrace and Support this project in every way imaginable. It is illogical to ignore this amazing work.
I remember Saval's character from Star Trek Enterprise. Back then he was very critical of Starfleets's expansion at their beginning. Now he has seen the fruits of the Federation. And now he has become their staunch ally. Good to see Gary Graham again. Looks like Rick Berman's legacy is still the standard in step with Gene Roddenberrys vision of the future. Good Times.
If you're referring to his earliest scenes in Enterprise, I think he was critical of it, not because he saw it necessarily as a bad thing, but because he was worried humans would bite off more than they could chew and be swallowed by another power and he knew the Vulcans, as they were at that time, would likely stand by and let it happen with a shrug and a "Told them so.".
Are we going to ignore the fact that Gary Graham just put on a 3 minute Masterclass on how to portray a highly believable Vulcan character without coming off as a stoic mess.
It's all about the almighty dollar. 90% of good art, whatever the form, is a labor of love. It usually doesn't make money and even when it does, it's just a nice, unintended side effect. The moment it becomes profit motivated, you get shit. The 10% of good art that is profit motivated always has passion behind it. James Cameron's Titanic for example. A ST movie that is only motivated by money so far as it has bills to pay, will always be better than studio productions provided trained filmmakers are leading the production.
Are we talking about the network CBS? Why not have "Axanar" and a new "Enterprise" on CBS All Access? Would Kurtzman want this to happen? He already has "Discovery" and "Picard", but I want to see "Axanar" and "Enterprise" and decide for myself.
Geez. This is phenomenal. The mention of that story line from Enterprise was also great. Just like with Prelude To Axanar, it felt like a punch to the gut when the video ended. I need more.
This is what I've been saying to deaf ears for so many years. A Star Trek feature should tell a big screen story, not be an overblown episode of a particular series of the franchise. The tale of Khan and his people on Earth. How Surak saved Vulcan society. Romulan origin and history. The mythology of Kahless done as Klingon opera. Or, as in this case, the battle of Axanar. The prime universe is rich enough with possibilities that you don't need to go into an alternate for "watchable" Trek.
It's nice to see that by this point, the aged Soval was actually sticking up for humans and has a lot of faith in them. Towards the end of Enterprise he was heading in that direction after the Kir'shara episode arc, but if you look at the early season episodes, you just want to holler at the character.
I’ve been following Axanar for years now and totally agree. I think something that would have made this scene even stronger would have been if Talera was replaced with a younger Sarek. It would have been like a passing of the torch.
Finally, something that looks, feels and has within it the real heart of Trek. This 3 minutes is more enjoyable than any of the footage I have seen for the show they call "STD".
his movie is wrong. the time line never had that happn. so the last movie will need to show the time line reset to the way it was inorder for it to work with the other star treks that are awsome. But if it dose not end that way then its a parala univers.
+Matthew .H. Why would anyone want to watch a whole series in a alternate universe? Its cool to visit but i wanna see what happens in the prime verse. In the movies they need Q to undo it all lol
+Lawrence Bottorff Do remember that the J.J. movies are indeed operating in an alternate time line setup when Spock traveled back in time while all the series are in the previous unchanged timeline so yes indeed it should be ignored as these are effectively two different parallel universes
And that's exactly what STD is diseaseset MacFarlane the Orville is more true successor to the tracking franchise and that's a fact it's no secret set managed to get some of the old-time Star trek stars to jump on board to do cameos or directin everyone of that he has asked have all agreed nobody from the Star trek universe has turned him down in the meantime STD which stands for disease toThe producers have not asked anybody from the old Star trek franchise to come on the show good written didn't want to do it no way because they don't know what the f*** STD is nothing but a f****** disease
I wish how I could have seen the continuation of this storyline. This three-minute clip, alone, gives a valuable hook for a 23rd Century prequel series.
Between the short and this scene....I'm sold on the idea that this will be some of the best Trek we've ever seen. Looks great, sounds great....I think it will be outstanding.
It would have been great had this been made if a young Sarek had at least a moment being shown the rope by the older Soval. Really would have helped to bring a few things full circle. Too bad...
@@Who-Cares6 They were selling Axanar merch. The only reason they changed the rules for fan made stuff, was because the fans were starting to make better shows, then the s**t the Network was. Moonves HATED Trek, and he gave Kurtzman an iron clad contract, before leaving. Because, he knew Kurtzman would ruin the franchise. Which is what has, for the most part, happened.
Gary Graham is doing an excellent job as Ambassador Soval. I have always enjoyed his parts during Star Trek Enterprise, specially those involving captain Archer. A fan made film but with Hollywood-like quality. Absolutelly amazing, Mr. Peters, this is a remarkable work!
This one got goosebumps watching this. This is exactly what Star Trek needs to be. This AXANAR is far more legit STAR TREK then anything we have seen produced by CBS or Paramount as of the last 10 years. "Humans ride the tempest of their emotions and get stronger for it." (BEAUTIFUL writing. I say this as a Masters for Creative Writing Graduate of Full Sail University. ) I'm inspired!!
+MrIvanYan888 Yeah because Abrams sucks so bad and when fans can make better than a Hollywood fav director we can't have that now can we? Piss on Hollywood who gives us hundreds of movies a year and only one or two are really worth a shit. Remakes, reboots, and general shit is what Hollywood is about now so I don't give them my money.
+MrIvanYan888 Well, I'm signing the change.org petition. Hopefully, they'll listen and allow some innovation in the Star Trek universe, instead of the superficial rehashes we've been getting. I suppose if all else fails, Axanar can change to generic science fiction. What can CBS and Paramount do if they don't use elements from Star Trek?
ghenulo It would lose a lot by doing that though. I love Star Trek not for the phaser fires, and Photon/Quantum torpedos but the character interactions. The lore, history, and watching characters grow and I will say I am a die hard Canon person so I never liked Enterprise because it deviated too damn far from Canon but on its own it was a fine series. I think this is what happened with the Abram movies that they were good on their own but sucked in the ST universe settings though I don't watch movies just for the eye candy type of guy either.
I was playing this at work and one of my co workers walked by and seen it playing and literally started freaking out excitedly thinking that it was the debut episode of one of the new Star Trek shows on CBS. He then asked if this was the latest Discovery or Picard and I told him neither and showed him the title and he was blown away and said that CBS has their work cut for them ,and I couldn't agree more.
I know your comment is old but... I agree 100% and everyone who thinks its good never liked star trek or cared about it they just want to see a bunch of cgi explosions with no good writing or over all plot. The thing I hated the most about though is that they tried to pass it off as being a part of the original timeline.... and to that, I say WHAT THE HELL ARE THEY SMOKING?
CBS could have simply bought this as Axanar Studios and left them to it. Use it as a development system for writers, actors, technicians etc that can be used on other projects later
NO what happened was CBS SUED , not allowing the film to be made.. Apparently the fan film genre has stabbed the big fish enough that the Fishermen took the people fishing from shores poles away. Research what happened.
Wango Bango I never knew any of this, don’t you people on the USA have laws against embezzlement of charitable funds? In America ? I’m angry for some reason lol
Wango Bango oh I see I knew it was shut down but not the intricacies of it, law here doesn’t require anyone to file a civil law suite as it’s a criminal offence to spend and or use charitable acquired money for anything els other than the process that’s stated on their paperwork, you need to register your charity or fund raising with the government you see.... he seemed nice in the UA-cam interviews I’ve seen, what a horrible man he is, did he get any notoriety in the press? Or anything in the USA? For these clearly sadistic actions ?
the link does not work. i liked prelude to Axenar and i am sorry the movie was not made due to the lawsuit. No ,i did not research further than that, but your post did not mention the suit - it mentioned only a criminal act . Regardless of the issue Why can't people who are so passionate in their quest for others to see the truth as they do use phony names. Don't they realize it makes them look less credible Wango Bango.
After seeing this a few times the feeling of awe overtakes me EVERY TIME!!! cant wait to see the finished result!!! you guys have done a fantastic job!!!
I love anything Star Trek. Combining the Roddenberry vision, the story-telling of 90s Trek, and the flashiness of the reboot, Axanar is shaping up to be a well-balanced production!
@@KH4444444444N well ambassador soval encourage archer to form coalition of planets with andoria tellerite and many others settle andoria and Vulcan disputes and hatred
Yeah the only good thing about discovery is that they took the concept of star trek federation and actually used it since it is a pretty good idea although knowing them it's gonna get destroyed horribly
My god, the writing and acting are so much better here than with The new CBS series. If i won the lottery tomorrow I would spend every dime to get Axanar picked up as official Canon. Great work to the entire crew. Your expertise and love for the Universe shows in the superior quality of your product.
The production quality is excellent, if the final product is as polished as that scene you will have a winner for sure - I look forward to seeing the whole thing.
***** Oh don't get me wrong, I'm one of the trek fans that likes the new movies, and I'm excited that Simon Peg is doing much of the writing for the new one. But I'm just more excited for this one. Just Soval being back is awesome!
***** Yeah, JJ is on Star Wars now. I know there was a director/writer that stepped down from the new film, and Simon Peg, and whoever else--can't remember-- are doing rewriting. And Peg had made a comment about the new movie getting back to Star Trek roots. So I have high hopes for it. And am most certainly looking forward to seeing it.
It was thanks to the alternate timeline that i have become a huge Star Trek fan, and i can't wait to see Star Trek Beyond. But honestly, i wish they (CBS) continued the Prime timeline. And i look forward to this movie, i think this 3min video was really great and it felt like Star Trek to me.
+Davide Gagliardi In a weird irony. I have greater hopes for the next Star Trek movie in the alternate timeline than the announced TV series which rumor has it back on the original timeline. The reason behind this is because there is also rumor they want to make a lot of the very same shake up and target audience changes to the upcoming series which utterly destroyed the Stargate franchise in Stargate:Universe series. I hope none of that is true --- only time will tell. Meanwhile, the JJ Universe without JJ in the big screen is making an attempt to get back to more core Trek supposedly so we shall see how that goes. First trailer is out now.
+TimeMantis Well see, what i hope for is to see the Enterprise G, because i consider STO as canon. Love the story's, and they should continue in the Prime Universe some 50 years after STO, lets say, 2460 or so ...
Try Star Trek Continues. Exceptionally well done IMO I was so excited for Axanar when the original 20 minute Prelude came out but I think the resultant battle with CBS, the compromises that were forced on the production, the loss of most if not all of the big names (including the sad death of Richard Hatch) mean that it's only going to be a shadow of what was promised/planned. It's a real shame as these earlier clips looked amazing
That is a remarkable trailer! These people ARE Vulcans, couldn't you feel it while looking and listening to them? Sent shivers down my spine. This is gonna be an excellent adventure in story-telling, I just know it!
WOW! That scene just blew me away. That is the best scene from a Star Trek movie, series, re-boot, whatever....that I have seen for a very long time. I have loved Star Trek for 40 plus years. It has been very disappointing these last several years except for productions produced by true FANS of the show. Fans "know" what makes Star Trek special and meaningful - - they don't have to incorporate what the studio, sponsors, politicians and agenda seekers want to brain wash us with.....It's about the human spirit, emotion and condition and a hope for a better future. Thanks again.
These 2 minutes of dialogue are better than every single fucking episode of Star Trek Discovery and Star Trek Picard. Now i understand why the fans , the true trekkies, are hyped about this.
Wonderful scene! I love the details like the background showing the temple from the movies and the Vulcan ship design. I am really looking forward to this!
When $ billion corporations Paramount & CBS prove again & again that they are unable to produce quality Trek, fans rise to the occasion. All you need is imagination & a little vision.
Darrell S exactly. The reboot [or rather regurgitated] last two movies were bloated CGI fests that told very little story but instead relied heavily on attractive actors, flashy effects, sets and explosions. Into Darkness was utter shyte and I'm glad that at least this effort will show the studio heads that this is what Star Trek fans want to see and not the J.J Abrams vomit he's producing these days.
+Shane Simmons How you figure? There are two LIVE characters, and even a couple background characters. Right off the bat that proves you aren't even close.
+Alec Peters i think Shane was referring to the ships and larger back drop during the scene. i don't know how much was cgi and models and don't care. all i know is it was beautiful.
my littlebrother and cousin visited me early spring!I showed them the episode where they encounter the Tardigrade thingy!u cant see shit when they run in the hallwayto the area where they capture it!
+Everton Sebben Axanar has the greatest promise to be "Star Trek" as many of us remember it, but IMO one of the most critical aspects will be the acting. The subtlety in Gary Graham's expressions (the glimpse of being taken off-guard when confronted) is something that a non-professional actor might miss doing, which would make the portrayal flat rather that convincing. This is the danger that all fan films have fallen into - that the cast in totality is not professional enough in acting ability. It takes the viewer out of the scene/story as much as a bad logic flaw in the story would and classifies it immediately into a lesser category of "fan-film". Hopefully Axanar does not fall prey to that.
+X Cel From what I have seen to date, very impressed. Looks like up to par with at least official TV series episodes which is striking a very high bar indeed. Previous fan films have been lacking but watchable. With better studio capabilities and larger budget and insider support within the Trek community, got high hopes for this one so we'll see. So far so good though. Let's hope they keep it going.
I would dearly love to see where this leads. A period of chaos and conflict in the federation, that directly leads to all we know and hold dear. With this kind of quality, it could be magnificent, such a pity studio interests don't care about how good a series they might make, just how it affects their stock prices.

Axanar is back! Check out their youtube channel - they're still working on it!
@@hyperupcall only 30 minutes though.
So great to see Gary Graham as Soval. He makes the character so dignified.
Are we going to ignore the fact that Gary Graham just put on a 3 minute Masterclass on how to portray a highly believable Vulcan character without coming off as a stoic mess.
who played Soval originally?
@@theblasteffect4499magnificent Gary Graham, may he rest in peace
Soval was originally against the Federation's expansion during the Enterprise shows. The growth and development of Soval is outstanding.
This is superb! Gary Graham is 100x better than he ever was on Enterprise. The quality of this content is the real reason for CBS's lawsuit.
It's also about EGO.
No way should a fan have more IMAGINATION than the highly paid professionals!
Heaven forbid.
@@tnndll4294 Is that all, really? Ego ruins a lot of things, but it was my understanding that there was also money involved.
Thought I recognised him.
Oh my! That brief clip ... seeing Soval again and understanding his hard-won connection to the Federation and Earth ... it has me in tears!
The prime universe is rich enough with possibilities that you don't need to go into an alternate for "watchable" Trek.
zoppie well said sir

So after watching this, is anyone else's blood up? This is.....brilliant.
My blood burn! My eyes are fire!
It's nice to see that by this point, the aged Soval was actually sticking up for humans and has a lot of faith in them. Towards the end of Enterprise he was heading in that direction after the Kir'shara episode arc, but if you look at the early season episodes, you just want to holler at the character.
Related question: Is that the actual actor? At first I thought it wasn't... edible halfway through it was pretty darn similar.
@@TheEDFLegacy yes it’s the original actor
@@stephenkelton2067 O.O
The evolution of Sovals opinion of humans through the series is brilliant. Very well written and very well acted by Gary Graham. Fantastick job🖖
"STD" ? a sexually transmitted disease ?
Nice to see vulcan again after JJ. Abrams destroyed it
his movie is wrong. the time line never had that happn. so the last movie will need to show the time line reset to the way it was inorder for it to work with the other star treks that are awsome. But if it dose not end that way then its a parala univers.
Matthew .H. Nice idea
+Matthew .H. Why would anyone want to watch a whole series in a alternate universe? Its cool to visit but i wanna see what happens in the prime verse. In the movies they need Q to undo it all lol
+En Kay The events of Star Trek Axanar take place before the destruction of Vulcan in 2258 so yeah, Vulcan is here (albeit for now only).
+Lawrence Bottorff Do remember that the J.J. movies are indeed operating in an alternate time line setup when Spock traveled back in time while all the series are in the previous unchanged timeline so yes indeed it should be ignored as these are effectively two different parallel universes
This is real Star Trek. Honoring the franchise properly, unlike the current incarnation/abomination the network wants to vomit into our eyes and ears.
I can understand why they stopped this, its better than STD
And that's exactly what STD is diseaseset MacFarlane the Orville is more true successor to the tracking franchise and that's a fact it's no secret set managed to get some of the old-time Star trek stars to jump on board to do cameos or directin everyone of that he has asked have all agreed nobody from the Star trek universe has turned him down in the meantime STD which stands for disease toThe producers have not asked anybody from the old Star trek franchise to come on the show good written didn't want to do it no way because they don't know what the f*** STD is nothing but a f****** disease
Star Trek: Diseased-Discovery! Ugh!!
a rotting sack of potato's is better than STD, but i still enjoy axanar
Which STD, gonorrhea or syphilis?
It’s good to see Soval again. I really liked him as a character on Enterprise!
I wish how I could have seen the continuation of this storyline. This three-minute clip, alone, gives a valuable hook for a 23rd Century prequel series.
I've said it before and will say it again:
*DAMN!!!* THIS is how it is DONE!
Can't get over how beautifully done this is.
Many thanks...
Between the short and this scene....I'm sold on the idea that this will be some of the best Trek we've ever seen. Looks great, sounds great....I think it will be outstanding.
This is beautiful and brilliant and the best Trek we never got.
Soval has come a long way from the ambassador that shuddered at the thought of humans exploring space. A worthy predecessor for Sarek.
It would have been great had this been made if a young Sarek had at least a moment being shown the rope by the older Soval. Really would have helped to bring a few things full circle. Too bad...
I thought it would have been good if Soval was an ancestor or at least a close relative of Sarek
Everytime I watch this scene, i simply think: PERFECT. SIMPLY PERFECT.
Yes. Yes. Soval had so much character development in ENT and I've always wanted to see more of him. Fans know what fans want
I just got finished watching Enterprise for the second time, this scene feels like the extension of that great series we never got.
Thank you! We are fans of Enterprise too.

Phenomenal story telling and plot development in 3 minutes. Incredible. I was absolutely glued to the screen.
Its no wonder CBS didn't want this made, for its 10x better than the trek they're currently making.
word
They sued because they were selling Star Trek merchandise.
@@scottwalker6947 You mean merch that was based off an IP he didn't have permission to use.
@@Who-Cares6 Had the right enough to start the project in the first place, and sold models of a ship design he created.
Awesome scenery and powerful dialogue used in this introductory clip. Well done to all those involved in this project.
This one scene can say a lot about our world today. We all need Star Trek optimism more than ever now. 🖖🏻
Good to see the timeline and Vulcan intact ;)
As it should be. Prime Universe FTW!
Now that I have seen this scene, I am even angrier at CBS than ever before. THIS IS STAR TREK!
Already like this more than either of the new Star Trek movies.
+inceptional saddly i dont think they can make it since CBS and Paramount Pictures are suing them
+MrIvanYan888 Yeah because Abrams sucks so bad and when fans can make better than a Hollywood fav director we can't have that now can we? Piss on Hollywood who gives us hundreds of movies a year and only one or two are really worth a shit. Remakes, reboots, and general shit is what Hollywood is about now so I don't give them my money.
+inceptional I think it's great that they're staying in the original time line.
+MrIvanYan888 Well, I'm signing the change.org petition. Hopefully, they'll listen and allow some innovation in the Star Trek universe, instead of the superficial rehashes we've been getting. I suppose if all else fails, Axanar can change to generic science fiction. What can CBS and Paramount do if they don't use elements from Star Trek?
ghenulo
It would lose a lot by doing that though.
Now this is the real Star Trek!
There is more Star Trek in this 3-minute-long scene than in entire Discovery series
Is it just me or is Discovery the worst pile of shit ever to come out of the Star Trek universe?
I would reply to your comment but I was unwilling to buy into the whole CBS All Access thing.
Hell ya.
Sad thing is, they could have just ACQUIRED this story and it's creators and hired them.
discovery isn't Star Trek. Not even close.
Those Vulcan vessels look amazing!
So does the Vulcan "courtyard".
I'm proud to be an AP for this film. Watching this clip gave me shivers and had me tearing up. I can't wait to get on set. Way to go Alec!
It's amazing at a 'fan' film has me more excited than anything official in the last decade. *THIS* is what Trek should be.
CBS could have simply bought this as Axanar Studios and left them to it.
Use it as a development system for writers, actors, technicians etc that can be used on other projects later
This looks so beautiful. I can't wait to see the final product. Looks like you guys have knocked it out of the park. Bravo!
Blasted Heath lol you won’t be I’m aware it’s been 2 years since you posted this
NO what happened was CBS SUED , not allowing the film to be made..
This is an awesome trailer which truly needs to be expanded upon. Turning this down would be a tragic sin.
The score is excellent and on par with the tradition!
I love anything Star Trek. Combining the Roddenberry vision, the story-telling of 90s Trek, and the flashiness of the reboot, Axanar is shaping up to be a well-balanced production!
This is the Star Trek that fits between Enterprise and the original series. This is the Star Trek that gives fans of Star Trek what they want.
This scene truly sums up the heart of Star Trek.
Now, THIS is "Star Trek"!
Knowing you guys are back in production warms my heart beyond words.

What a gem Axanar is
I'm more interested in this, than the next Star Trek film in the JJ verse.
No other fan film I've seen yet has the quality of Axanar. Keep up the great work.
Try Star Trek Continues. Exceptionally well done IMO
I was so excited for Axanar when the original 20 minute Prelude came out but I think the resultant battle with CBS, the compromises that were forced on the production, the loss of most if not all of the big names (including the sad death of Richard Hatch) mean that it's only going to be a shadow of what was promised/planned.
It's a real shame as these earlier clips looked amazing

30 minutes per episode is HEAPS of time considering how much story telling juice we got out of these three good minutes !
Wow and Wow! A fantastic job, I'm so looking forwards to more; Good work all!
Just beautiful.
Talwyn22 Well said.
Talwyn22 This scene was about 99% CG.
+Shane Simmons How you figure? There are two LIVE characters, and even a couple background characters. Right off the bat that proves you aren't even close.

+Star Trek Axanar Any idea when the full thing will be comming out?
***** Alright thank you, can't wait. My friends, family, and I are all looking forward to it.
Love it.
I would dearly love to see where this leads. A period of chaos and conflict in the federation, that directly leads to all we know and hold dear. With this kind of quality, it could be magnificent, such a pity studio interests don't care about how good a series they might make, just how it affects their stock prices.
Truly stunning...
