    My tiel is only loud when he wants out of his cage. Tiels are very social birds and I pity the ones that are stuck in cages all day. I'm glad you're educating bird owners what to do because a while ago, there was very little info. Soar high, Fish and Chip!

    Hi, I'm having an issue with my two Indian Ringnecks. I have so many things for them: a custom swing, two different stands, a playground stand, horizontal and vertical swings, and each of them has 3-4 toys inside their cage. Additionally, they have some toys outside with the playground, but it seems it's not enough. They sleep for 12 hours, I feed them Harrison Bird Food, and a lot of veggies. I also have three types of treats for them. I'm desperate and don't know what else to do. It's been hard for me, especially since I've been sick for three weeks with ear pain due to an infection. Out of my four birds, the two Indian Ringnecks in my home office are the loudest, and they won't stop yelling. It sounds like screeching it’s really bad. Like I know their birds and noise is normal. But the constant scream is getting overwhelming and I’ve them for a year or a little over. What can I do beside buying more foraging toys?

    • @BirdNerdSophie
      @BirdNerdSophie  3 місяці тому

      Firstly, do the ringnecks actually engage with and play with the toys/forage?
      Secondly, behaviour is fuelled by the consequences that follow it - could they be accidently being reinforced with attention when they do it?

      3-4 toys is way too little. Birds love clutter in their cage. Birds prefer shredding toys so make sure you use those. Make sure they have large cages. Are their wings clipped? How long are they out of their cage daily? When they are out of their cage do they have playgyms?

      Also what seed mix do you recommend? Half of them or full of sunflower seeds, yellow biscuits and so much more.

    I am trying to figure out why my male cockatiel screams. My female doesn’t really scream-she just chirps A LOT at times and contact calls. I have shouted at them in frustration when I just can’t them to quiet down so I am open to suggestions that might work. I try to calm them down by playing music or covering them but other than that - I don’t know what to do! I do give them treats and foraging activities too sometimes to get their mind off whatever is bothering them but I also don’t want to reinforce loud mouth behavior lol.

    • @BirdNerdSophie
      @BirdNerdSophie  11 місяців тому +1

      There’s definitely a lot that could be going on here - od be looking at hormonal behaviour, whether they’re playing with and destroying their toys, the diet, environmental factors, reinforcement history etc!

    • @videostar323
      @videostar323 11 місяців тому

      Yes sometimes I think it is out of boredom or the desire for attention! And yes yelling is still attention lol 😂 They do have plenty of toys but they also can get bored of their toys at times so I do try to give them a variety and make sure to give them foraging toys with treats inside to entice them to play.

    • @videostar323

      I am starting to think my female might be hormonal because she typical gets hormonal in the fall. My male has been very quiet lately and my female is chirping pretty much non-stop. I thought it was attention seeking behavior but I notice she’s still doing it even when I give her attention so I’m stumped as to what else it could be but I didn’t realize females could get vocal when they are hormonal.

    My parrot screams just when he is with me or when i am close to him , is it normal?
    Knowing that my other one doesn’t do that.

    My cockatiel enjoys warm showers is that ok? He has developed many behaviors such as finding dark and small places upstairs for nesting and making it his territory and when we enter it he attacks us aggressively... The second i open his door he flies upstairs and make his territory and when he is kept in cage he screams. We found two things that helped which is showers and outdoor walks. Any tips? I would need it very much since it the first year he has done this out of 4

      As long as it's not too warm then yes it's fie! Increasing training and foraging will be important, and check out my hormonal behaviour video!

    I have a 2-month-old pineapple conure, he/she is still on hand feed, and has all the happy signs but it screams every 1-2 seconds constantly till the time I don't put him back into the brooder. Even if the crop is full or half, the scream won't stop. Is it because he wants to have another bird with its surroundings? how to stop the constant scream. As long as its inside the box its all fine, the moment it feels im in the room the scream starts. I mean very playful n all but everything comes with this scream lol..is it okay to raise a single conure? how can i bring the scream down.. or maybe it will get matured once its a bit bigger, We named him/ her coco. .not sure about the gender yet..

    This is not exactly screaming, but my bird has picked up the staccato like yippy bark of my little dog. Very loud and incessant and cannot be interrupted or distracted, just has to tire of her own accord. Sometimes on bad days covering the cage. I am so sad, she is over 30 (African grey) and has only just started this. Why?

    • @BirdNerdSophie
      @BirdNerdSophie  4 місяці тому

      Every behaviour has a reason, and behaviour is fuelled by it's consequences - do you tell her to be quiet or even give her eye contact when she does it as this can be reinforcing! Getting he mentally and physically tired through training and foraging will help too!

    My bird started screaming constantly to get my attention, i tried turning away when he screams and giving him treats when he's quiet, but he starts screaming when i come close to give him a treat now too. The screaming has become even louder now and he constantly screams :/ Not sure if i've done something wrong to accidentally reinforce this and how i can fix it, any advice would be appreciated

    • @BirdNerdSophie

      Behaviour is fueled by its consequences which is important to remember! But also evaluating your environment and the diet is important!
