It's definitely different! First of all, the perfumers who made them are different and I can smell the difference. Feve Gourmand isn't the exact same as Gourmand Coquin at all. Thank you for noticing it. All these "influencers" who can't even tell the difference in perfumes are telling people that they smell the same. They don't know any better than the people watching their channels. They woke up one day and started a channel because they wanted to be like the influencers they were watching but they know nothing about perfumes. I have no idea how they got any following at all. It blows my mind. The original is so gorgeous! 😍 There's no comparison. For me, Gourmand Coquin is more royal-smelling and feminine and gorgeous with more rose whereas Feve Gourmand is slightly spicier and boozier with more of the cacao note. It depends on each person's personal preference. This video states my personal preference. 😊

😂😂😂. I know whose review you are talking about. When I saw that video I was like “does she have Covid or what ?”. I am part of the main Guerlain fan group on Facebook. The Guerlain fan have very good noses. And every one was adamant that Fève Gourmand was weaker.

Guerlain fragrances are known to age well. My friend who has a Gourmand Coquin purchased from Paris in September sent me a decant of it. The juice was so faint. But after a month, the juice got denser. I got Fève last month. It is so faint. I have left my Feve Gourmand macerate to see if it improves anything . I have the OG Gourmand Coquin (Elixir Charnel) and I feel they are not the same. I feel the OG is classy , feminine but also decant
I agree with you. Gourmand Coquin OG and Feve Gourmand are not the same. That's what I said in this video. I think the OG smells more elegant and classy just like you said. Hey Cleo, thanks for this thorough breakdown. I've seen a few comparisons with the original gourmand coquin, and your the first to mention the rose element. It's the rose that I'm sure makes it tat extra bit opulent and rich and rounded. So I'm very grateful for this in depth review. Hopefully I'll get a sample eventually, but not that excited to seek it out. Such a shame it's been reformulated. I briefly mentioned this about Tonka Imperiale recently, and there's a big difference to me. 🌹👍

Feve Gourmande just launched in Canada on December 1 and I have purchased it. I just have to pick it up this week. Now hearing the original is available, I think I will get that one too.

The rectangular bottle is the OG and the bee bottle refill is reformulated but still the same to my nose. Place Vendome also has all the discontinued gems: 1. Baiser de Russie 2. Le Plus beau jour 3. Mon precieux nectar LPBJ and Mon Precieux Nectar are heart breakingly beautiful, w that elegant guerlainade DNA unlike the loud beastly fragrances nowadays.
I love Guerlain's elegant DNA so much! I just love a good elegant, feminine and classic perfume. 😍The rectangular and bee bottle juices are the same and same perfumers. Whereas the new Feve Gourmand has a new perfumer and smells more in line with the new generation of more obviously gourmand (gourmand notes are prominent) and louder perfumes. But it's still a Guerlain perfume and smells very well blended and classy. 😊 I have to get my hands on those classics you mentioned and then some because Place Vendome sent me so many samples and I'm in love with a lot of them! ❤Rose Barbare, Jasmine Grandiflorum, Tonka Sarrapia, and Iris Palida are a few that I want to explore from the Guerlain samples they sent me. I really want French Kiss from the original collection that included Gourmand Coquin, but I don't know if Place Vendome has it. I emailed them. We will see. 😊

Actually, I knew that. It's a well known fact about the stinky orders Louis XIV had in his court. That was because they never bathed. If you really want to share knowledge about history, I can tell you more. They didn't bathe because they thought bathing spread deceases, which is unbelievable! Bathing is very important for hygiene and overall health as we know today. That is why France, or Paris in particular, was one of the birth places of perfumery. They were trying to find ways to mask their BO stink! 😂😂😂 I was not interested in sharing my knowledge of the history in this video, but rather I wanted to give people an idea of how elegant it smelled and how elegant Marie Antionette wanted to smell, regardless of her unwashed body. I have actually studied French history extensively. The historical background would have killed what the Gourmand Coquin smells like. I know for sure that is what Marie Antionette definitely wanted to smell like. It smells like most perfumes from that era in France. It's the kind of scent the French royalty preferred. It was about the scents that they wanted to smell like rather than what they actually smelled like once they sprayed them on their unbathed bodies. What I'm trying to do in the video is give people the idea of the perfume, so they know that it smells like a perfume from that time. Marie Antionette definitely intended to smell like it despite what she might have actually smelled like when she sprayed any gorgeous perfume on top of her BO. My subscribers are not interested in my knowledge of French history but they are interested in me painting the right picture of how this perfume smells and it smells like something Marie Antionette might have had on her vanity despite how unclean she was when she wore it. Thierry Wasser of Guerlain said in an interview that the fragrances are the exact same. I don't know why different perfumers are listed if Thierry Wasser flat out came out and said that they are the same fragrance. My theory is that since Gourmand Coquin is discontinued, Guerlain is selling the remaining batch to one store until it runs out, but once it runs out, it runs out. This batch is sold in limited quantities and has macerated for years at this point. Feve Gourmande is newer. I bought a small decant of Feve Gourmande because my signature scent used to be Gourmand Coquin, but I ran out, and have been without it for years. The Feve Gourmande I got shortly after launch was very weak and, dare I say, watery. I let my small bottle sit for about half a year and now it smells like the Gourmand Coquin I remember. If people compare Gourmand Coquin side by side to Feve Gourmande, they'd still smell different even if they were the same exact formula because Gourmand Coquin isn't being made anymore, and all bottles of it have been aged like fine wine for years now, so they're going to smell differently in comparisons no matter what because Feve Gourmande hasn't even been out long enough to age and mature in the same way that all current Gourmand Coquin bottles have. Just my two cents on why I think they smell and perform differently.
Yes, the OG Gourmand Coquin is better than the new Feve Gourmande for sure. There's a noticeable difference, perhaps not to the untrained and unknowleadable noses but you can't fool the trained and knowledgeable noses. 😊
I definitely do not put the dabber top & the bottle top directly to skin as I don’t trust that my skin wouldn’t hasten the denigration of the OG. I put mine in the atomizer & spray the way fragrance really is best applied for full effect. Thanks for the comparison to the new. Very insightful!
I use it both ways. I got an empty bottle and atomizer with purchase, so I decanted some of the juice. I spray it on when I'm in a hurry and other times, I enjoy the luxurious feeling of dabbing it on. 😊 Thank you love!

Hi Sarah! It's so good to hear from you again! It's been so long! I don't think Place Vendome charged me for shipping because the bottle was $381 before tax and I paid something like $400 total. So, it was just tax I think. There was no additional duties to receive it in the U.S. I can't speak for Canada though.😊

Hmmm...That's a good question. I love the OG more but I do like Feve Gourmand too. I will use both and enjoy them both. I might even layer sometimes. But I do prefer the OG Gormand Coquin more. My short answer is that I don't regret picking up Feve Gourmand. 😊
How's the projection on Feve? GC, on me, does not project at all :( It is a skin scent from the start. Was hesitant to buy it because of that. A lot of money to drop on a fragrance you can't smell. I did not try the bee bottle version though. Was hoping Feve could be stronger. Wonder if it could be that after Feve ages a bit more, the differences could be less obvious.
You are right about the projection of the OG Gourmand Coquin. It's not excellent. It sits close to the skin but on me, it does project a little bit. I wish it projected more because it's such a lovely scent. It would get a lot more compliments if it projected more.😊Feve Gourmade projects a bit more than the OG Gourmand Coquin but it still doesn't project a lot. They even added patchouli to make it stronger but it didn't make a huge difference in projection. The difference in the two scents is small but obvious...at least to the trained nose. 😊
Yeah I think I really need to try Feve and see how it goes. Some people have let go of Gourmand Coquin because of performance issues. So it is a real concern. Also, Feve could end up closer in scent to GC after some time. If my nose were better, the choice would be clear. But have got to give Feve a fair chance, just may prefer it. It's so cute the way you sway when you're describing the fragrance. If I get either perfume, I have to feel that kind of satisfaction :) Also, just want to say thanks - I love 3 perfumes you reviewed in the past. Already got 2, and hope to add the last sometime...after we settle GC v FG :)

Yup I'm glad they worked out too :) I was on the fence and your reviews narrowed things down for me. So I got decants and then bottles. I try not to blind buy as I'm rarely successful. And it's hard to resell at a fair price. That's why I need to try Feve G first and see if it's lovely enough. And projects better. Sometimes the hyped one - even if deservedly so - doesn't jive with our senses. GC is the more expensive option for me too. Would be so sad if I got the bee, and can't smell it.

The Coquin bottle is very beautiful. Although dabbing from a special vessel like that bottle is must be a luxurious ritual, I personally don't like dabbing fragrance on, unless I am wearing it as a go to sleep routine. Also I dont like how air can get in each time the stopper is pulled out. Have you thought about possibly funneling part of your bottle into a travel sized spray vial? I know you said the fragrance seems to have a higher oil content, but I am sure that the juice could be sprayed.
I forgot to mention in the video that Place Vendome sends you an empty Guerlain bottle with atomizer. You can absolutely put it in that and use the bigger bottle like a refill. I just love the dabber. But I made my own spray bottle yesterday and using it as a convenient option for when I'm in a hurry. Yes, the juice can absolutely be sprayed! 😊
Do you mean the Gourmand Coqin I got? It seems older than the rectangular bottle I have seen. But it might be newer than the rectangular bottle. But the point is that it is the original Gourmand Coquin formula from the same two perfumers that we all love and I was comparing it to the new Feve Gourmade formula that's from a different perfumer.
I have the rectangular OG from Guerlain and the bee bottle refill from Place Vendome and they emailed saying that the bee bottle had been reformulated, but it’s smells the same to me so Guerlain did a good job reformulating 💕 Fortunately w two bottles I don’t need Feve Gourmand 😅

They were trying to find ways to mask their BO stink! 😂😂😂 I was not interested in sharing my knowledge of the history in this video, but rather I wanted to give people an idea of how elegant it smelled and how elegant Marie Antionette wanted to smell, regardless of her unwashed body. I have actually studied French history extensively. The historical background would have killed what the Gourmand Coquin smells like. I know for sure that is what Marie Antionette definitely wanted to smell like. It smells like most perfumes from that era in France. It's the kind of scent the French royalty preferred. It was about the scents that they wanted to smell like rather than what they actually smelled like once they sprayed them on their unbathed bodies. What I'm trying to do in the video is give people the idea of the perfume, so they know that it smells like a perfume from that time. Marie Antionette definitely intended to smell like it despite what she might have actually smelled like when she sprayed any gorgeous perfume on top of her BO. My subscribers are not interested in my knowledge of French history but they are interested in me painting the right picture of how this perfume smells and it smells like something Marie Antionette might have had on her vanity despite how unclean she was when she wore it. Thierry Wasser of Guerlain said in an interview that the fragrances are the exact same. I don't know why different perfumers are listed if Thierry Wasser flat out came out and said that they are the same fragrance. My theory is that since Gourmand Coquin is discontinued, Guerlain is selling the remaining batch to one store until it runs out, but once it runs out, it runs out. This batch is sold in limited quantities and has macerated for years at this point. Feve Gourmande is newer. I bought a small decant of Feve Gourmande because my signature scent used to be Gourmand Coquin, but I ran out, and have been without it for years. The Feve Gourmande I got shortly after launch was very weak and, dare I say, watery. I let my small bottle sit for about half a year and now it smells like the Gourmand Coquin I remember. If people compare Gourmand Coquin side by side to Feve Gourmande, they'd still smell different even if they were the same exact formula because Gourmand Coquin isn't being made anymore, and all bottles of it have been aged like fine wine for years now, so they're going to smell differently in comparisons no matter what because Feve Gourmande hasn't even been out long enough to age and mature in the same way that all current Gourmand Coquin bottles have. Just my two cents on why I think they smell and perform differently.

Yes, the OG Gourmand Coquin is better than the new Feve Gourmande for sure. There's a noticeable difference, perhaps not to the untrained and unknowleadable noses but you can't fool the trained and knowledgeable noses. 😊

I definitely do not put the dabber top & the bottle top directly to skin as I don’t trust that my skin wouldn’t hasten the denigration of the OG. I put mine in the atomizer & spray the way fragrance really is best applied for full effect. Thanks for the comparison to the new. Very insightful!
I use it both ways. I got an empty bottle and atomizer with purchase, so I decanted some of the juice. I spray it on when I'm in a hurry and other times, I enjoy the luxurious feeling of dabbing it on. 😊 Thank you love!

Sara did Place Vendome charge you shipping? Did you have to pay additional duties to receive your order in the US?
Hi Sarah! It's so good to hear from you again! It's been so long! I don't think Place Vendome charged me for shipping because the bottle was $381 before tax and I paid something like $400 total. So, it was just tax I think. There was no additional duties to receive it in the U.S. I can't speak for Canada though.😊

Hmmm...That's a good question. I love the OG more but I do like Feve Gourmand too. I will use both and enjoy them both. I might even layer sometimes. But I do prefer the OG Gormand Coquin more. My short answer is that I don't regret picking up Feve Gourmand. 😊

How's the projection on Feve? GC, on me, does not project at all :( It is a skin scent from the start. Was hesitant to buy it because of that. A lot of money to drop on a fragrance you can't smell. I did not try the bee bottle version though. Was hoping Feve could be stronger.
Wonder if it could be that after Feve ages a bit more, the differences could be less obvious.
You are right about the projection of the OG Gourmand Coquin. It's not excellent. It sits close to the skin but on me, it does project a little bit. I wish it projected more because it's such a lovely scent. It would get a lot more compliments if it projected more.😊Feve Gourmade projects a bit more than the OG Gourmand Coquin but it still doesn't project a lot. They even added patchouli to make it stronger but it didn't make a huge difference in projection. The difference in the two scents is small but obvious...at least to the trained nose. 😊
Yeah I think I really need to try Feve and see how it goes. Some people have let go of Gourmand Coquin because of performance issues. So it is a real concern. Also, Feve could end up closer in scent to GC after some time. If my nose were better, the choice would be clear. But have got to give Feve a fair chance, just may prefer it.
It's so cute the way you sway when you're describing the fragrance. If I get either perfume, I have to feel that kind of satisfaction :)
Also, just want to say thanks - I love 3 perfumes you reviewed in the past. Already got 2, and hope to add the last sometime...after we settle GC v FG :)

Yup I'm glad they worked out too :) I was on the fence and your reviews narrowed things down for me. So I got decants and then bottles. I try not to blind buy as I'm rarely successful. And it's hard to resell at a fair price. That's why I need to try Feve G first and see if it's lovely enough. And projects better. Sometimes the hyped one - even if deservedly so - doesn't jive with our senses. GC is the more expensive option for me too. Would be so sad if I got the bee, and can't smell it.

The Coquin bottle is very beautiful. Although dabbing from a special vessel like that bottle is must be a luxurious ritual, I personally don't like dabbing fragrance on, unless I am wearing it as a go to sleep routine. Also I dont like how air can get in each time the stopper is pulled out. Have you thought about possibly funneling part of your bottle into a travel sized spray vial? I know you said the fragrance seems to have a higher oil content, but I am sure that the juice could be sprayed.
I forgot to mention in the video that Place Vendome sends you an empty Guerlain bottle with atomizer. You can absolutely put it in that and use the bigger bottle like a refill. I just love the dabber. But I made my own spray bottle yesterday and using it as a convenient option for when I'm in a hurry. Yes, the juice can absolutely be sprayed! 😊

The bee bottle isnt the original formula.
Do you mean the Gourmand Coqin I got? It seems older than the rectangular bottle I have seen. But it might be newer than the rectangular bottle. But the point is that it is the original Gourmand Coquin formula from the same two perfumers that we all love and I was comparing it to the new Feve Gourmade formula that's from a different perfumer.
I have the rectangular OG from Guerlain and the bee bottle refill from Place Vendome and they emailed saying that the bee bottle had been reformulated, but it’s smells the same to me so Guerlain did a good job reformulating 💕
Fortunately w two bottles I don’t need Feve Gourmand 😅
