I really like your videos. It gives me drive to stay on my chair 1-2 hours extra every day. And hearing about the way to go about building a web app really good. Thanks.
The world is changing very fast. I think your long term goal should be to become the CRM for creators. Every industry need to operate at 100% efficiency. So, general solutions like Hubspot Salesforce and so on, are not bring the special requirements with.
you have got platform risk, lot of people went out of business with reddit and twitter api changes. That is why people build their own platforms. Think of this as a pull to get users and make sure your revenue is a split between different platforms and possibly something native too. Good luck great project and thanks for sharing
Hey mate, love the content. One thing that has been bothering me: creators aren't completely in control of when their communities take off. Your product's tiered pricing system creates a poor end-user experience if a creator approaches a pricing border and they're not immediately available. Suddenly they're turning away paying customers just because they've unexpectedly hit a pricing border. I know you mentioned in earlier videos that the users will get warning emails, but sometimes communities pop off (ie. some sort of viral moment) and your new pricing structure can cause them to lose potential sales forever. I'd suggest giving them a buffer of X amount of days once they've passed a pricing border before you stop allowing new members. This offers the best end-user experience, although it opens your platform up to a slightly higher risk of abuse.
The free tier question is an interesting one. Personally I would consider using a ratio of free users based on plan level and have them not count against the total. Giving your users the chance at growing their income community while using free as a promotional tool would, I feel, net the highest opportunity to convert that user to a hire tier plan. I would also want to offer users the quota to run a completely free community if that is their model, but that would mean they are still paying for your service. There could also be the potential to have add-on models that allow you revenue options from free tiers that may allow you to expand your free plan quotas.
IMO, spending so much time on Free tier is just waste of resources, people either willing to use your product or they will never pay for it. We been there, spend so much time for Free Tier onboard, upgrade/downgrade Free tier people who try to downgrade while they were using above Free tier limit... For what? :D Free customers were only burning our resources.
@@dfsafsdafsdf800 When you have a direct path to value or an amazing offering skipping the free tier is 100% a great idea. When you have such a low acquisition cost and at least outsider math says resource costs are low as well you have an opportunity to use the free tier as marketing, brand growth, activation, etc. This becomes a different conversation at a later stage or if there isn't a conversion path, but again outsider looking in, seems like a very low cost investment to have opportunity.
jacob this is a very interesting idea but you do have competetion so making it free is a really good idea also i will be waiting for the telegram feature
Another great vid Jacob! Aside, but I really love the tone / pacing / shots in your vids btw. Like casey neistat for dev tubers. Where did you learn how to vlog? :D
Hi man, I have been following your documentary for a while now, I checked the site today, I think you might want to give a one liner explanation of who the platform is for, and how it works on the hero section, It took me while to fully understand what subbb is about until I went to the FAQs section. I love your channel bro.
This might be a bit random but it would be great to see what your routine is like outside of work, like how do you wind down at the end of the day, get all your beauty sleep, gym in the morning, that kinda stuff.
for the free plan, dont limit to 15 users. Says 15 users free but if you have a free group charge one off fee per transaction. for example for adding/removing etc. Think spotify model
dont charge for free unless high amount - up to creator to monitze which is in there best intrest - only count paid - thats your customer / demo - free subs dont charge as thats good top of funnel
Suggestion: for the free tier, why not just keep it separate from subscriptions and not count it under the number of members the creator has? and then also just possibly bypass the whole payment processing flow and just give them instant access to whatever platform.
Great video as usual, can you break down the stack you using for subbb it really intresting me? frontend, backend, database, how you fetching data, are you using trpc / react query. Thanks
