I was 20 when this came out. I'm now 50. I've always loved the song but hadnt read the lyrics until today. What a song. 30 years have passed and I have a sudden realisation of sadness that the years are going faster. I wish I'd have done more. So advice to you youngsters. Travel far and wide. Appreciate all you experience. Be grateful to be. Love everything and everyone around you. And finally enjoy yourselves . ✌️
Greetings, Mark. Same here. I felt this was some message, but I never got into it. Now I understand, but I COULD GET THIS WRONG because I live in Eastern Europe (maybe it is a "West thing"?). Who do you think these guys are sending messages to? "Granny" sounds like the Queen of England, as her hands are bloody, and she is responsible for many evils in this world and the US government. I have nothing against the ordinary people in mentioned countries. What do you think, brother?
They were so far ahead of their time with this record. They literally looked into the future and put it in a song. I'll always respect Tears 4 Fears for being some of the greatest musicians of all times. This song is so powerful and transparent.
@@emmanuellevitorya5396 indeed.... each and every lyric in this record is exactly what's happening right now. 32 years ago, they wrote this. Incredible
I was 13 or so, living in Mexico and a friend with a sister who was 17 traveled to France and introduce me to this one, I never forgot it, now I'm 52 and l still love it.
Like other reviewers I liked this back in the day on the radio, but today was the first time I’d listened to it properly on headphones. It’s a mini-masterpiece of pop. I just read that Paul McCartney was initially dismissive of it as a Beatles pastiche, but it is in fact more of an homage. Excellent work with the scrolling lyrics 👍
“ An End To Need, And The Politics Of Greed, With Love..” Why is the world so much worst in 2023 since these powerful words were released to the world in 1989? When will people have love in their heart for all the people of the world and not put materialism and politics over God and love for mankind?
Since 1989 love the song, in 2022 I reflect the Shanghai lockdown and Russo Ukraine war, people need to wake up, as nothing has been changed in a dystopian country!
This song has nothing but good ups all about it❤️ there never a dull moment about it a All! Best song ever! Thankyou tear's for fear's! You are the best!
these guys are a mini orchestra, complete musicians. And ACTIVISTS. They know what their country does. It's too bad that most activists are rendered useless tho.. once they get all that money. Money is black MAGIC... how else do you explain a piece of paper, or a number on a screen, and consider it more valuable then family, community, humanity. but it's so.
I was only 8 or 9 yrs old when I saw this video on my(then!) God of channels:MTV remember it was a hit then and now~I see lyrics for the first time....Funny and so true when ppl say"children have different view"~without knowing lyrics I liked this video....but not like Madonnas or Michael Jacksons➡️❤️👑👑💙⬅️they were my favs but..Here I am now!Wish u all Have a great day!💕
I took on the essence of every great boxer I could think of , back in 1988 , so that when l am reincarnated into this world again , l will prove to be a champion boxer , l will never lose a fight and win by knockout every time. ( Cher " heart of stone." ' ten rounds in the ring with Love.' ' knocked out of the ring by Love.') Saint Michael.
So introspective of TFF, as it’s some of these comments have well defined. With Roland’s awesome voice defining the human condition and an aural assault of music behind it, where could you go wrong?! Masterpiece of music!
Beautiful lyrics that are so related to what’s happening in the USA 2024 Presidential race as President Biden resigns. I think the political climate in the world is divisive. This 1989 song expresses the need for Love and Oneness to heal this rift.
Interesting you say that, I’m 45 and I often go back to songs of the 80s that I used to hear and read the lyrics. I’m not sure why I chose this band , this song, but your comment reflected what it made me feel. These are not the lyrics I remembered, but what well written song! Like these guys say, I believe in love power, you and your loved ones take care.
"There's egg on your face and mud on your shoes And one of these days you're going to call it abuse." The lyricist is peaking to the victim. The lyrics on screen say "call it the blues"
my first MTV experience. I think I was 10. Since I started growing up I've had to reexamine all my heroes and found them not mine but an expression of time and station. They're not even deep. And I really thought they were. These guys are incredibly talented and well deserving of fortune and fame. I just wish they didn't make my unsoiled little mind think that freedom wasn't just a bunch of chicken shit made up for vampires to lick up what leaks out of my heart nowadays. These guys are great and they knew exactly what they were doing.
Essence of every great boxer. Sowing the seeds which will bloom in my reincarnated life. Which will mean l will be the best boxer walking the planet , for a 1000 years. St michael

An excellent job of deciphering the lyrics and scrolling them. A véy complex song but incredibly entertaining. Mega props!
The perfect song to bid farewells to my beloved 80's.
And I'll say this for the last time
GOOD EVENING PASADENAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!
They sowed the seed of loving their songs in my heart, with the sounds, voices, and lyrics of pure hearts.

Released 32 years ago .Timeless-
With tears in their eyes they look to the skies
I always thought that they are really showing their Beatles influence in this instant 80's classic.
I was 13 lived in Mexico and loooove it, even at that time didn't understand anything

Adoro esta canción y su significado aún más. Ojala fuera un himno mundial 😍😘💯
This song really lefts my spirit 😊
roland & curt channeling the beatles.the most beatley song i ever heard from them.
Since 1989 love the song, in 2022 I reflect the Shanghai lockdown and Russo Ukraine war, people need to wake up, as nothing has been changed in a dystopian country!
They ruled the world on the 80s. So beautiful.

The music video had so many great visuals, you might miss the powerful lyrics. Such a great song!
I always felt like they channeled The Beetles with this classic
Damn the lyrics hit me hard today

This song is hauntingly relevant at this time. Sunflowers Love Power Ukraine

Sun Flowers , a sign from heaven.
it's 'call in the ruse' not 'call it the blues' lol. Which makes a lot more sense too in the context of the lyrics
Pride. " what more in the name of love." U2.
The song never really takes off. A few good lyrics.
Toda vez que escuto essa música, lembro de 'I am the walrus' dos Beatles.
In 1989 people accused them of trying to sound like the Beatles.
its been 2022 since breakfast and we are sowing the seeds of love
Yes!
relevant lyrics
"There's egg on your face and mud on your shoes
And one of these days you're going to call it abuse."
The lyricist is peaking to the victim.
The lyrics on screen say "call it the blues"
