Big disagree with the guy in chat calling the lyrics cringe; they were honestly one of my favorite aspects of the song. Needs to eat more pineapple, clearly
I agree
Because toxic masculinity doesn't let "men" enjoy anything feminine
I'm not against these lyrics specifically but they are par for contemporary "sexy song" lyrics which aren't super creative or inspired. I'll say in her defense though, she only gets a single verse, a pre-chorus and a chorus to work with.
Sexy isn’t really a prominent vibe I got from it personally though I can understand why others might believe so.
@@jleighwolfe ''toxic masculinity'' ? You should get kicked in the butt for even using that embarrassing term
this song gave me the same feeling I got from eating pineapple the first time.
jokes aside though, might be one of my favorite polyphia songs ever. people are saying "oh it's just a pop song," but pop songs were my favorite growing up until I became a metalhead a couple years back. this is my jam!
"Brennan Chlebos" Same. Though my favourite era of mainstream music is mostly around 1997-2003 (If you can see my pfp) coming from a 17 year old Gen Z male as it had a lot of genres getting airplay on Pop Radio such as Electronica, Pop, Nu Metal, Post Grunge, Trip Hop, Hip Hop, Pop Punk etc although I would argue that the 90s was a diverse decade imho
I’m a huge metalhead since I was a kid and love pop music. I didn’t know metalheads were so against pop until I got older. 😂
Agree so much my man, Pop is way harder to make good then people realize, the song writing is key and mixing with the mathiness of Polyphia is a match made in heaven imo, this album is gonna be there best for sure! PINEAPPLE
Whoever thought math rock, Ariana Grande, and J-Pop would ever be blended in a single song about fucking and the alphabet? 😂
According to another comment I read, the song happened because Tim played the main riff to Sophia, and she counted the notes so she could keep the rhythm in mind as she wrote the lyrics. She noticed the downward arpeggio had exactly 26 notes, thought of the alphabet, and thus these lyrics were born.
this song grows on you. I was weirded out at first but now I even listen to this at the GYM LMFAO
fr, i used to hate this song, but after a while it became one of my favs from the album, specially this part 2:15
You have one of the more positive reactions to this song which is refreshing. Most people say they aren't into it but it's so poppy while still being very Polyphia. Sophia is crazy talented too
Can we give her props for keeping up with Tim's guitar work
Pineapple.
This song blew my mind!! At first.. I thought Sophia Black was going to be a guest guitarist. Yet since I knew Polyphia has had Cuco as a feature vocalist, I suspected she was a vocalist. This song introduced me to her and I am further blown away from her own work of music!! My musical background goes as follows: hip hop/r&b/rap in childhood. Rock/some pop/alt early teenage. Metalcore/EDM/math rock and everything that's exciting bc pop to me is boring teenage years to now.
Pop has always been too easy and unimpressive to me (unless it's underground. Even then it did not catch my ears) yet Sophia Black and Polyphia changed my mind on pop music as a whole!! Pop used to be a guilty pleasure, now I am accepting and willing to enjoy pop music open mindedly. Not all pop is boring and Sophia Black is my gateway towards the pop music I've desired to find yet has been unwilling to search for.
This song is the catalyst. For the impact it has on me, this is a 10/10 song. In terms of a Polyphia song, this is a 8.5/10. It reminded me too much of their last album so I was thrown off. Yet terms of this being a Polyphia song with vocals, this is an 11/10 insane!!
Final score for me, 9.5/10 near perfect had it not reminded me too much of their last album
actually my new fav polyphia song by far
To us Japanese this sounds 'natural' in a way, somehow, since our local songs go busier and busier these days. That might be Sophia's input I guess.
I'm pretty sure Polyphia is going to become part of the metal to Jpop/Kpop pipeline. A ton of metalheads are into this song and they're missing out big time if they don't check those genres out.
My fiancé thought that this was an Ariana Grande song and I had to tell her that it wasn't and showed her the music video and earlier today I found her listening to polyphia's older stuff and I was so excited to see her enjoying it and she was telling me how excited she was for their new music and I honestly can't wait for their new album and more specifically that Chino Moreno feature that they have because I kow it's going to be good. But overall this song was so damn catchy and fun to listen to
I normally listen to mostly deathcore/slam, my usual go to pallet cleanser is Dance Gavin Dance when I need a break from heavy, also some J.I.D, that being said this is pretty awesome! Yeah I miss the original Polyphia but getting to watch the journey that lead us too this point has been pretty exciting. Some people need to lighten the F up and just enjoy things sometimes lol
What do you mean by original polyphia?
@@theirishpotato6588 I'm a Resurrect and Inspire age fan and back then their sound had more emphasis on a Djent sound and song structure, which I throughly enjoyed. Since Muse they've gone to a more math type sound and song structure. Drumming styles are vastly different from the days of old too. Obviously having different drummers over time will influence that. All that too say they still kick ass.
@@Admiral_Potato41 ah ok. I don't miss the original polyphia because they've improved album after album since. In my opinion.
@@theirishpotato6588 hey brother that's your opinion, I respect that! I'm not here too tell you its wrong
@Madden 07 Soundtrack Fan Account [Norma Jean AOTY] The Forever Story is my Hip Hop AOTY. Sorry Kendrick lol
I need more hyperpop polyphia in my life
I love heavy, metal or core, crazy lows and bass make me lose my mind. This song, however, did not make me lose my mind. I lost my whole head with this, I think this is my favorite release for the new album. I am so happy I preordered it.
Honestly this song really does make me want to listen to more pop, I love metal so much and I think this is a good bridge for both sides of the spectrum in music🙂
Pineapple! Incredible song and a unique one in awhile. I've never heard a pop song with this kind of technical precision and a math rock flare to it as well
This might be Polyphia's final form, haha. Nice touch with the japanese vowels near the end by Sophia.
That song just becomes addictive even if ur not into pop it just works with polyphia but got damnneeds more Mashups like this it bring other people into the rock world
Pineapple on pizza. Pop music in my math rock. Birb with my metal. Sign me up for all of it.
This album is going to be amazing.
it's my favorite song of the year so far. and she is cute as hell.. 😍
I feel like Polyphia want to try with vocals now since they literally done the technical stuff for like a while now so doing vocal while being technical is now a actual challenge for them I think
They have had vocals in songs before: "Look but Don't Touch" and So "Strange"
Yo, the track list for the new album is crazy.... Chino Moreno? ❤️🤘🏽
I'm really hoping they do a soundscape-y, layered, 8 string song for chino but either way that's the track I'm most excited for
Pineapple should be the name of their next single
🍍Great track, great reaction!🤘
pineapple=best apple= apple pen cause who doesn't love dead memes
Its so funny how you can see all those super salty elitists in the comments around this Song. They don't Seem to realize how much Skill it Takes To make this Shit.
I am actually Putting that on my list of Things to learn on the Drums. Great Reaction.
I can only describe the style as clingy, and so were the lyrics
I've heard there are pineapples in the comments? Where can I get one?
Just gotta say I love your openness to other music, its refreshing to see it in other metalheads. Gotta get back to some Arch Echo! Or maybe some Sithu Aye! But either way pineapple is good for your health.
Please give Parkway Drive - Soul Bleach a shot. There new album dropped and that song was the highlight. Also a dirty breakdown in there
He did. But he likes this shit over parkway drive 🤣
GET THIS SONG OUT OF MY HEAD!
*pineapple* is actually a berry...
thought I was capable of anything with my guitar and song writing. This kind of music is HARD to write let alone perform with completely aligned synergy... I doubt there are many feelings like it.
Question: is she saying coherent sentences; sentences that lead to any specific idea?
song is about being left... "speechless."
in bed.
Cons:
- I have no cons
Same here
Where have you been… this man’s channel is a whole vibe… im invested🫡
I dug it.
Who lives in a PINEAPPLE under the sea?
Unprocessed Berlin please
Pineapple
My dream is always was Ariana Grande ft. Polyphia
pineapple,
just please, not on my pizza
🍍🎸 💫
Pinya. Because I made it 'till the end if the video. 😎
This song has grown on me. I'm not normally down for the super chaotic parts that prog bands love to throw around, so it was off-putting at first. Pineapple.
GlintingBeetle 🤓
Song bangs. Almost as much as pineapple on pizza
pineapple
🍍?
There’s nothing to hate on this song. It’s so crisp.👌🏽
🍍
Real men listens to abc
WTF is this future progressive pop.
Obviously polyphia itself is talented but this vocal as well.
She could catch up with Tim's riff and so on.
Polyphia isn’t math rock
Autotune is a wonderful thing
sofia black is not a big pop artist. shes very under the radar
its meta? umm what
I'm sorry but this wasn't it , not my thing
Remove the vocals and it's literally the same basic Polyphia sound and formula, which is cool...I just kinda wish with all that talent, the boys might step a bit further away from this "genre" they are creating. With no vocals or kpop video, it really is just a sped up revamp of most everything else they have done....it's fine.
I mean, bands kind of need a style that they can ground themselves with, give me a single band that don't have a "formula". Also, "with no vocals this is just a polyphia song"...? Yeah? It's a polyphia song featuring a vocalist. Does what it says on the tin really lmao.
@@Djitterbug of course, and like I said, I like their formula, it's different and engaging. I play guitar, I've been following them a while, and nearly every reaction I've seen mentions how unique this song is. The song is not unique...having the vocalist is. The song is really good, a really good Polyphia song. Perfect. I just thought it might be cool to hear something completely off their path, they're certainly talented enough...that's all.
Polyphia: Makes a song and music video based so heavily on J-pop that half the lyrics are literally hiragana.
A million lazy commenters: Yeah the K-pop influence is too strong.
@@dmckenna I know so little about pop sub-genres that I had know idea there was a J-pop, nothing lazing about it. I don't read Japanese, so didn't recognize that, and I don't listen to awful pop music written for twelve year old little girls, and that's by choice. So not lazy, just purposely ignorant...
@@johnjohn37371 "I had no idea there was a J-pop" I mean, you are aware there is this country called Japan, yeah? And they, like every other developed nation in the world, have pop music. As for "I don't read Japanese", not sure what that has to do with listening to the song. I don't speak French or Russian, but I would never confuse a person speaking French for a person speaking Russian. Ignorant is right...
If I never hear this garbage again, I’ll die happy
Joyless much?
Polyphia continues to be too much of a gimmicky sounding band IMO, tho im personally biased, saw them open for Chon and they were prob the most annoying live band i've ever had the displeasure of watching.
im sorry man, its not bad because its a pop song, its bad because its not a good song. lyrics ARE cringe, way too busy, and feels like polyphia forced it just to "make another pop song". not a fan at all, but we're all entitled to our tastes i guess
Still dont get it all these reactions to a band that is not even metal lol
It's crazy how there's other genres, try growing up
We all know that he mostly reacts to hardcore or metal songs but he can react to everything related to rock music. YOu know? Hardcore and metal are rock genres. You are aware of that, right?
What part don't you understand bro? I'll guide you through it; are you confused that there are other genres that aren't metal? Or were you maybe under the impression that everyone on the planet only liked metal?... Is it the quantity of reactions? I'll try and help, I just need a leg to stand on here.
I’ve covered jazz, pop, r&b, rap, edm as well. I also plan on doing reactions to more genres when I can
