I can now walk again after these massages and instructions along with your older videos related with the calf muscles. Thanks. I had calf muscle tear after doing an intense session of standing calf raises and could barely walk.
    How I healed myself:
I injured it on Thursday, sore on friday, could barely walk on Saturday. I found these guys on Sunday and by late Monday I was good to go.
+The massage at 3:40 This is a MUST do and what jump started the healing faster. 2:54 he explains why this massage is critical to do.
+Walking lightly on toes until I can walk with calf muscle support. Walking was so important for recovery for me as laying down too much did not help me heal faster.
+Frozen water bottle and/or Rolling Pin and massage and roll it on the injured calf muscles (gastrocnemius for me with the medial in bigger pain)
+Stretching lightly without causing too much sharp pain. If in pain when stretching go back to massages/ice like they said
+Extras: bought Icy Patch cream but by that time I was already feeling better due to the other methods above and the other instructions they said. I did not use the tape method but try it if you can.

@@dsvdv-7349 Yes, I healed very quickly! The first and second day I could barely walk however I found this video on the second day. The third day I was still in a lot of pain but I could move around more. By the fourth day I could put my heels on the floor and actually walk without my crutches (with a sligt limp though) however I was still in a little pain. The massages are what really helped me the most. My calf muscle was so tight and they really helped relax it and I noticed a huge difference after just one day. I also did some very light stretches like pointing and flexing my toes which really helped. As soon as you can walk without much difficulty, walk around a little, it really helps. After 5 days I could walk with little pain and by the end of the week everything seemed completely fine 🙂 hope this helps!

The taping technique at about 8:35 worked wonderfully for me! I have had recurring calf strains when I increase my running and it had became very frustrating. After an interval workout one day, I felt a painful strain in my calf. I tried this taping technique and felt absolutely no pain the next time I ran! Now I tape up before every run (using sports tape, not KT). It's been more than a month, and no more calf pain. Anyway, my two cents. Thanks guys!

Great advise as usual guys! Specially on the massage, as it really improves recovery. I have one tipo to share regarding the massage, I ended up using a gel icepack that I made sure was rounded befor freezing it. Then you just place the icepack on top of a pillow to rest the calf on top of it (I do it while sitting on my desk chair and placing the pillow on my desk) that way you need to elevate the leg and this gives you the opportunity to rock your leg sideways while resting on the icepack, that way you get the benefit of the cold, while also doing the "across the muscle" massage. That way you can do it for longer period of times and you can play with your leg placement to hit different spots.

It took a long time to go away but the aftermath still lingered. So for a few days I'm walking fine, then the next thing I realize is that it began to slightly ache, and the pain increased by each day that past. 3ish days later after not walking on it at all bc putting pressure down on it felt like ripping and just too much pain (it didn't occur to me to put ice however, but was elevated) so now I can limp around a bit w my leg at a right angle and using my tippy toes to make steps. This has never happened to me before I didn't know that a Charley horse could be so sevier! Thank for the advise I hope I will be pain free SOON!! : )

Without a doubt the piece under the heel made a dramatic difference in quality of life. I used leather scrap. Right healed up in three weeks a year ago, now I'm dealing with the left, ugh. Thanks for the video.

I dread to think what damage I have done. I have spent the last two days stretching it out as I thought it was cramp. It sure feels like cramp. I have been massaging it too. Thanks for the advice guys.

Thank goodness I found this video, while running it felt like a rubber band stretched then snapped in my calf muscle, and retracted like a worm or something, felt so gross, I limped for the day, next day was walking better, but really want to get back to running, so I will start this tonight! Thank you

Thank you Doctors! Three weeks ago I tore my left calf muscle, playing pickleball, in the exact place you were talking about, about midway up on the inside. I didn’t know any of the things you talked about so all I did was baby it. Well today I thought it was feeling pretty good so I met my brother in law to play pickleball. You know what happened. Yep! I did it again. As soon as I felt that pop I knew it. Now I know what to do with my calf muscle.

You know, 2 is better than one. I love how you two keep each other from being stuck in 1 answer. You both have a great way of helping and with a little different opinion from both. A great way to treat. I dislike arrogant docs...you two are anything but arrogant. Great job boys! I recommend your vids to my whole family. U might think the beginning is cheesy but its catchy. I like it. Keep up the great advice while thos Corona virus is going on

    Greetings from Saudi Arabia
First I would like to thank you for these informative videos.
I'm 35 years and one time before one year I had along walk for 12 KM with bad shoes and in the middle of my walking I got some liquid under my bigger toe and I limped all the way. after the finish I felt a pain in the middle of leg at the back. After two days, I resumed my walking but I noticed a pain in the outerside of the knee going toward the calf and also I felt my leg was heavy to raise. After continuing my exercises, I had different areas of pain mostly at outer and inner side of right knee and sometime at the back of the knee. I visited many ortho doctors but all of them conclude that I have nothing unusual. but based on your video my symptoms seems to be a tennis leg injury. Your help would be highly appreciated.

I am in construction as a MEP Inspector...i walk alot to and from the job site....then walk the job site of a nine story building...usually one or two of the elevators will be used as "construction elevators". However, several weeks ago the elevators went down "out of order" so, if i have to inspect each floor under construction i walk up nine stories...that would've been fine when i was 20 or 30 something...now at 64, i have to rest at fifth floor....now, after three weeks my left calf hurts just as you described....i feel like a lame horse something. Thanks for the tip on stretching. HC Clark-ENC U.S. Navy Retired CPO (1973-1993)
