I wish they would make the new Z4 a Gt3 car with a similar sound as well because this is one of the best if not the best sounding Gt3 car
the AMG GT3 sounds pretty damn good as well, of course it doesn't rev as high, but it has that deep NA VA grumble
Yes it does along with the calaway corvette Gt3 being my favorite Gt3 car

Every time I see this car in a video is an automatic like. Don't care how little driving content there is, this car is one of a kind. I saw it in person back in 2012 during the Long Beach Grand Prix, I've never forgotten it and will always love this car. Thanks for the upload my friend!

2:34 is probably the best part along with the traction control kicking in.
Guy has a strange driving style though, he really likes to let the car slide into understeer.
I'm not sure that is the TCS, I believe it is the Race ABS system as he is under brakes. Or even driveline chatter due to the locked rear brakes when coming into the corner.
I agree, that's the ABS probably for that timestamp. But there are definitely moments where he's hitting TCS.
1st Person Farm it’s both ABS and the drivetrain you hear, because the wheels want to lock up. Straight cut serquential gearboxes do not like that. TC is that crackling sound in the background when he is going on throttle.
I sometimes do that understeer thing in racing sims. I've taken to calling it "riding the understeer"
You can steer the car with throttle at the absolute edge of available grip and it keeps tires temps from going down on some tracks at the price of wear.
I remember an interview with Claudia Hürtgen from back when this car was competing and she was a BMW works driver at the time. She talked about how you had to throw the car into the corner with way to much steering lock or do this kind of "sawing" motion with the wheel in order to maximize the grip of the tires. Fernando Alonso had a very similiar driving style in the Renault R25 and R26 actually.

@@the-stig-nickname it's based on the S65 from the E92, but pretty significantly changed. The P65B44 in this car has a flat plane crank, which is the biggest change.

@@PimSchouten Well can't complain about my job in those years. :) Yes, we bought two cars new from BMW Motorsport and raced them from 2012 to 2015. We did Brazilian GT and later FIA GT Series and Blancpain GT Series, you can find these races here on UA-cam. In 2017 we sold the car on the video, chassi 1014 to it's current owner, the guy on the video. You can see some pictures on my Instagram @bruno_nazza.

nazzatech I am writing from Dutchieland. (The Netherlands). Pretty sure you have raced in Zandvoort right? I love the Z4. Worked on one as well. (I used to work in motorsport but couldn’t continue due to private situations). But, pretty sure I will go and try to get back again after the virus is gone. I am literally homesick from motorsport. And you? Still live in Brazil? Btw, the stockcar championship is for people who’s testies are bigger then their heads. That is a freakin awesome race series.

Thats the whining of the straight cut teeth in the serquential gearbox. Makes a hell of a lot of noice when you’re in the car.

yes and you can actually buy the z4 gt3 bodywork if you can stomach the 15k us dollar price tag. its based on a late model z4 with the hardtop. they remove all the convertible components and cage the chassis. if you look it up there is a timelapse of bmw building one

What's the high pitched squeal that we hear over the engine rpm on race cars like this? You can hear it in the cockpit but not from afar.

blackbird sr-71 paddle shifters.
blackbird sr-71 pneumatic paddle shift on the steering wheel. The gearbox is serquential, so it means you dont need to use the clutch to go up or go down the gears, you can just keep your foot hard on the throttle pedal, or brake pedal.
