I tried to make this video as viewer-friendly as possible - making my cursor the largest possible size and explaining the logic more slowly to make it easier to follow along. Let me know what you think!
You always do a good job so keep up the good work!
Very nice
Hexagons are the bestagons
It is quite beautiful. Thanks for the video!
i think that there is a bit too much explanation at times, but very well done
Picross plus minesweeper but with hexagons instead of squares is a very odd genre that works a lot better than you'd expect.
@The Almighty Ninja Always loved Nonograms, so the idea of implementing it with one of my fav 2D shapes AND Minesweeper is just perfect
Exactly what I was thinking
Oh yeah
Picross plus Minesweeper? You mean Voltorb Flip?
Actually id expect it to work alot better than a square grid.
4 sides on square 6 sides on hex.

Misclicking like this is my most hated part of playing Hexcells. I am such a perfectionist that if getting 1 mistake like that means I don't get all points for the level, I will make myself do it over again. I have to pay just as much attention to not misclicking as I do to logically deducing these puzzles.
I think it allows a certain number of miss-clicks, before lowering the score from “perfect” to “completed”. So if your own goal is “only” a perfect score on the game’s level overview, you can afford a few misses per level. If your _own_ OCD or whatever forces you to have a zero in the mistakes counter when completing a levxel, you are on your own.
@@luziferius3687 Tametsi doesn't even have that allowance like Hexcells does, so it's even worse for people's OCD lol
I'm so glad you finally picked this up. I've been playing Hexcells since 2014 and it remains my favorite 5m timewaster game on my laptop.
NEW GAME! Excited to see how it goes!!
Edit: HOLY SHIT I am in love!!! I have to get this game now!! As someone obsessed with nonograms, this game is so good! This is also really good as a viewer, as I can solve the puzzle (to an extent) in my brain while I'm watching, and see how long it takes you to notice it! Overall, killer video! Love it!!
Yeah it's the latest in a series, Hexcells, Hexcells Plus, and Hexcells Infinite. There's two more subsequent logic games from the dev but they're based on squares. Can definitely recommend them though especially infinite since it has a random gen, daily, and user made puzzles.
@@cericat yea i bought hexcells infinite right after this video
@@Yokozai NP, for some reason YT finally put the video on my notifications today for some reason.
As someone who taught himself minesweeper (and pretty well imo) I was still barely able to keep up with you lol. Still, looks like a super fun game!
taught yourself as opposed to getting minesweeper lessons? doesn't everyone teach themselves minesweeper...
He messed up the nine logic at the end (with the extra cell ("these six have 2" there were seven)) but got lucky(might not have mattered) (me: first time seeing this game)
@@mydood9675 taught myself as in just figuring out all the little tricks you can do by myself. It’s nothing special and I wrote this as a sleep deprived idiot so please excuse me lol.

"so this is moderately more difficult than what we're used to"
oh my gosh my sides hurt
0:23 I really love the sounds they make.
I didn't understand any of this but GOD was it relaxing to just listen to you work it out. It's like watching Sudoku in a way. I don't understand that either but it's so soothing to watch someone smarter than you at puzzles figure it out.
5:17 you've all heard of wide tyler, now get ready for:
*tiny tyler*
I like how the act of solving the puzzle adds music
I swear to god, I have had this on steam for about a year and decided to play through the 3 hexcell games just this weekend. I thought, this game would be perfect for aliensrock, maybe I should suggest it to him. but decided against it not knowing any way to suggest a game to you.
Just a couple days later and you play it, wack man.
I vaguely remember him actually playing this like a year ago
Nevermind, different game, still hexagon minesweeper tho
he simply read your mind
@@wdf_skar hey guys its Tyler and today we are trying this new puzzle game where you read people's minds
@@JHG_1 lol
I love this game! I've had it for years and not seen anyone talk about it! THANK YOU!
I never understood how minesweeper worked until I started watching this man going thru his logic. Now it clicks
Thanks for getting me into this game!!! I bought it in the first 4 minutes of your video... my favorite thing is the sound design- p.s. subscribed!
this is the most perfect combination of sudoku and minesweeper and its beautiful
Every time I watch you play something I completely understand what is happening while also not understanding anything
as someone who learned how to play minesweeper a month ago I am loving this
This music is so nice combined with the dinging of the tiles
I'm genuinely surprised you've never covered hexcells before - and very happy! It's onw of my favourite puzzle games of all time (even though I'm not that good at harder generated/user made levels)
I love these games! Played and replayed them many times, happy to see you play them!
Hell yeah, hexcells is sick, I've been repping this game for a while so it's great to see Tyler play it.
I actually loved this video format. I could 'play' along and use the same logic to see if what I'm thinking is correct. You should definitely make a least a couple more of these
I have played this quite a bit, its really chill. Somehow i just assumed that you have already played it since it seemed right up your alley, but it's nice to see that you found it now. Great game.
I didn’t know how much I needed this in my life.
Big fan of this one. Cracking the Cryptic type vibes.... def would like to see more of these
This sort of feels like a mix of nonograms, and minesweeper.
Interesting to see Sandwich Sudoku style logic in minesweeper.
Anyone else ticked seeing that triangle in the bottom so easily solvable for half the game just sitting there
I'm getting cracking the cryptic vibes and I love it
Man, the sound design in this game was so satisfying! Would totally be down for more of it lol
fantastic video. loved your "walk-through" of this. would definitely watch more of this.
YES I was really hoping you'd play this!!
I see aliensrock continued to ascend while I was gone, that's great
The speed at which he solves is stupid fast
Yes! I have always wamted you to play this game, as it is my absolute favorite puzzle game. The game might not be too viewer friendly, but i think the music, and sounds make up for it. Keep up the great content!
The Hexcells are my absolute fav puzzle games
Never heard of this game but just stumbled across this video and this game looks really cool! Found it pretty easy to follow your explanations so thanks for that!
I love the soundtrack for this
This gave me a new sense of appreciation for Tylers brain.
This is like a wonderful mix of picross and minesweeper I love it
minesweeper + nonogramm = puzzle heaven
I remember this browser game some years ago that was a minesweeper puzzle game with these kind of features, I hope you can find and play some day
This is a really cool game and is fun to watch you play. I don't think I could ever play it as it hurts my brain a little but it's really neat to watch your thought process figuring out the puzzle
5:08
so this is moderately more difficult than what we're used to
me: excuse me MODERATELY
Tyler: I was doing it slowly
Me hardly able to keep up
Minesweeper: Bestagons edition
Tyler, you are the reason why I learn how to play minesweeper in less than a day
I always turn to this game for a quick 5 minute puzzle since there is an infinite mode. Can't go wrong with randomly generated goodness
It scares me how fast you able to figure these things out
Hot damn the sound design is perfect
me watching him solve that last main campaign level: ngl this looks kinda tough
me watching him solve that massive wall of hex: goddamn bro leave some brain cells for the rest of us
Hexcells and Hexcells+ are great but bit on the easy side, Hexcells infinity on the other hand has some really great levels later on.
I think maybe Cracking The Cryptic should have a go at this one.
Its always the games thats great and also looks like a game for phones but is ALWAYS only for pc and pc only
If they added hexagons that when you click them you lose, it would add a lot to the gameplay.
Still good video Tyler
This game looks super super fun!!
CGP Grey is loving this
“I was doing it slowly” he says 😂
I just watched the entire 25 minutes of someone popping hexagons with satysfying sound.
No regrets :v
Less intimidated on his skill of completing the level so easily, and *w a y* more intimidated by the guy who made it.
one of my favorite minesweeper apps had a hexagon mode and i found it WAY more fun (and easier sometimes) i played all the levels LOL
A wise man once said “Hexagons are the bestagons”
You melted my brain in a satisfying way
Hexagons are the bestagons
Hope this does well on yt, love to see more!
I'm surprised at your commentary skills; full-focus on the game yet still understandable just-right-speed explanation.
i wonder if there is a special system in this game checking if player-made levels can be finished without guessing
As a wise man once said, “Hexagons are the bestagons!”
Very fun to watch!
Probably one of my favorite videos so far you should definitely make another video
I loved this, more please!
Great, new picross addiction found
We need a yt series on this
holy crap this is incredible
Hexagons are the Bestagons! *CPG Grey Intensifies*
People want far cry 7, people want silksong, man just wanted hexagonal minesweeper...
protip: you should be able to just click on a cell if you've marked all the mines around it, and it clears the rest around it. hopefully that should work on columns as well. i haven't played hexcells but that's standard minesweeper, surely this game supports that?
CGP grey liked this
As they say, hexagons are the bestagons.
Am i the only one what wished my brain worked as quick as Tylers. Seesh
"Hexagons are the bestagons"
- Some youtube guy I forgot the name of
Holy crap, the prophecy has been foretold! Tyler found the world's perfect game
Reminder that hexagons are the bestagons!
Ya beat me to it
I recently started playing demoncrawler (again), heh... need more minesweeper games.
There's a game called Tametsi that's pretty similar to this, it's way harder though.
You should do more of this
This is exactly what it feels like when your math teacher helps you😀
You got my mom into games because of this lol
Holy cow i am intimitaded xD are u a logic genius or what oO i didnt understand not even half of what you did xD
I'd love more hexcells
Dude, you’re amazing lol
Someone could totally make a picture in the costom level maker
I love it
Looks like a wonderful game. It sounds like a game I might enjoy although it seems a bit limiting if there isn't any good auto-generation of hard puzzles as user made levels are hard to depend on for gameplay
Another video would be great!
This game is magical~
Surly I can't be the only one that thought of sudoku while watching this.
Dope video, plz more
Do you play "Bombe"? It's automatic minesweeper) If you like it)
