I have a question because I have never been in band, but have a child going into it. These instruments cost a lot of money (I cannot stress A LOT). For as much as these costs, why don’t they come assembled? They should have cases for them to go fit in already assembled also. We don’t want to take it apart every single time. Is that even necessary?? Just want to make sure I understand how all this works because I truly don’t know.
I cringe when someone puts the mouthpiece on the clarinet without it connected to the barrel. I play Clarinet and I want to say that I put the mouthpiece on the barrel and then the reed

Really late but there are a multitude of reasons that include it fitting better, easier to clean, and less likely to break
