Air will ALWAYS uphold the greatest nostalgia for me. It was the first secret weapon ride of the bunch to have been released at the same time as my first visit to Alton towers, when promotion for air was heavy and the park map was themed around it etc. I still have a blue air whistle key ring from the air shop connected to my key chain xD. AT has lost a bit of that 90’s early 20’s magic for me. Granted I don’t go that often now. Not been since the release of the Smiler 🌀
Rita was re-named camilla for a day when the royal wedding happened. All merch, signs and ads changed for that one day. Like how thirteen changed to fourteen for one friday the 13th.
What about the first part of smile. always when two people interview an author/ professor who works for the government agency that created the smiler. After the interview he leaves to make a cup of tea, so the other two decide to have a look around and find some tapes. The camera man then zooms out to show the author stood behind them smiling. If you are interested in watching them it is on the Alton towers UA-cam channel.
Hahaha! Ripsaw is the ONLY ride I've ever been sick on, I had McDonalds in Forbidden Valley then went straight on it... It was the first time I was tall enough for the bigger rides, not a good idea haha!
I hate these adverts because they show parts of the ride that we never got to see or that don't even exist but are marketed as being real (or giving the impression that it is part of the ride). An example of this would be Oblivion in which they clearly show that it was supposed to be MUCH farther down and perhaps a series of other tunnels before going back up to the surface. Heck even Nemesis and The Smiler showed effects in their rides that could have been used but weren't used such the fog effect for nemesis or flashing light effects for The Smiler, there wasn't even a tunnel of lights which was clearly shown in the advert (psychological effects my ***!). Theme Parks should be focusing on not just building rides but providing a unique experience for the customers by having areas that are PROPERLY themed and not just tacked on and actually trying to innovate instead of lie to us of things that weren't included on the attractions but are marketed of having as such. This is why places like PortAventura Park are just so much better because they introduce new rides but also new park areas, themes etc...
