Metroid: Dread doesn't have the first stealth game play in franchise history, almost the entire zerosuit section of Metroid Zero Mission was a stealth section as were some of the SA-X sections of Metroid Fusion. Otherwise great list!

I think they are referring to the phantom cloak which is the first time you can activate a "stealth mode" in a metroid game
I think they’re talking bout Dread’s selling point being the stealth, and it being the only game to have abilities based solely around the stealth sections.
Zero mission/fusion don't have stealth gameplay, they have an altered gameplay with poorly scripted (because of limitations) events that try to convey a tense Atmosphere.
It's a 6 of one, half a dozen of the other kinda thing, you're not wrong it's just this is more in depth with its stealth aspects
17:23 Hmm, Samus had to hide and outrun the SA-X in Fusion, and the Space Pirates without her suit in Zero Mission; think one of the early worries about Dread was that the "hunted" theme's been used a couple of times before (luckily the EMMI sections feels different enough to be its own thing)
I finished Dread and didn't even think about that.
also, grapplebeam was a thing before, it's utilized more in Dread than in other entries, but still a false fact.
Um, stealth mechanics have been in the Metroid series for a long time, with sections of most games requiring some amount of stealth, particularly parts of Fusion and an entire chapter of Zero Mission, the origin of the zero suit.
But none had any stealth ability outright.
@@zettovii1367 That statement doesn't make alot of sense. What else would you call it when she is shown to hide from her enemies and sneak past them but stealth?

But it isnt any specific ability, as in power or upgrade used. In previous games the only type of stealth you had, was by moving out of enemies sight, but in Dread you have the ability to go invisible. That's a clear difference there
@@zettovii1367 It's actually entirely irrelevant to my point, which was to refute a statement made in the video. Invisibility can be useful for stealth, but it is one tiny aspect of a very broad spectrum of game mechanics, and to suggest that a character must have Invisibility to be considered to be using stealth is ridiculous.

It's not entirely irrelevant, because the main point about that stealth mechanics statement, is point out the differences between Dread and the previous games.
And while I dont disagree in the it is ridiculous to only count invisibility as stealth mechanics, I still just wanted to point out what Dread did different from previous games, which again, is the purpose of that "fact".
So in prime, the weapon symbols are actually the hands shape.🤔

Those are some crazy cool bits of info! I love this series so much. I forgot that the "Metroid" creatures in MP: Hunters are actually called Quadtroids...I guess technically they aren't the same (no similarities in DNA), though clearly we see they're riffing off Metroids. Also, the Grapple hook definitely is not a new gameplay mechanic in Dread.

Other M is a VERY good game. Fans are being too harsh on Samus's portrayal but gameplay-wise, it is very action-packed and fun with many puzzles and upgrades to find.

I first discovered that samus was a woman in super smash bros brawl (me and my brother used to think samus was a man the whole time until she shed off her armor after doing her final smash and revealed to us that the he was actually a she underneath that cool armor)
This was a huge shocker when it was revealed in super metroid on snes.

100: first time stealth... What? Hiding from the X in Fusion and boarding the pirate ship in Zero Mission don't count? How do you just forget that stealth has been in the series for a long time now?
102: Another confusing one. if "grapple hook" is the ledge grab one, then again that was a fusion ability and I think it's in Samus Returns. If it's the grapple beam then obviously that's in Super Metroid.
But not bad. 2/107 mistakes is a passing grade. This was very informative and did nicely to avoid spoiling Dread. Good list!
I'm quite sure they meant the "Spider Magnet" Ability, which indeed let Samus climb walls (though only certain ones).

Well Metroid Prime 4 is still being developed so its kinda a weird answer for Nintendo to give. Or leaderboard forgot about the update trailer they gave last year I think
@@maddogkilla1 the prime games are kinda set in their own timeline. trying to wedge them into the main timeline leads to some issues, mainly with ridley and his ever reviving ass.
@@pulsefel9210 I don’t think that’s to big of a problem. He already gets revived like 5 times without the prime games so it isn’t to big of a deal.
I don't mind waiting a few years before hearing of a new number in the franchise. But in the meantime we have Prime 4 and Prime Trilogy port (or remake?) to look forward to, and hopefully we see a port of Samus Returns, and maybe a spinoff?

What do you mean Metroid Prime Pinball was the first spinoff series? I thought everyone considered Metroid Prime as a whole to be a spinoff series.
Eh, it's kinda fuzzy
For the longest time, Metroid Prime was considered not a spin-off, per se, (same protagonist), but it was considered non-canon. However, the Proteus Ridley canonized Metroid Prime (as Ridley is still healing from its presence in Metroid Prime). By the time Super Metroid came out, it was fully healed and no longer had the cybernetic enhancements. Proteus Ridley was still somewhat enhanced with Cybernetics but they were coming off and Ridley was somewhat healed. Within the Metroid timeline, the Metroid Prime series would fit between the first Metroid and Metroid II (as most Metroids were supposedly wiped out in Metroid II, but were still present in the Metroid Prime series).

Here something obscure: In Super Metroid is also first ever introduction of Shinespark who is inspired by Getter Robo G and havr a similar execution as the Getter Robo G.
I love Metroid Prime 2 echoes it's my favorite it was difficult but fair wasn't impossible like dark souls level of difficulty this is why even though I love Metroid Prime 3 corruption interns of story but overall the game was extremely easy not balance use hyper mode as much as you practically want I I avoided the hyper mode unless I had to use it like in final level.
Dark Souls is so broken though, like it's so easy to abuse the dumb AI.

It is... Bounty hunters is a way to say mercenaries... Which also collect bounties for a mission... What?
The difference is in that a mercenary is paid in order to be more of a military soldier for hire whereas a bounty hunter is paid per contract fulfilled, whatever that may be.
My favourite 2d metroids are Super, Fusion, Dread, Zero Mission, Samus Returns, Metroid 2 and Metroid. In that order
Skip fact 104 if you have not played Dread. It actually spoils a significant detail in the ending. Yes the events of Fusion can lead a person to the conclusion, but Dread solidifies it and it’s much more surprising to find out on your own.

samus was always planned as a women. it wasn't a "hey wouldn't it be cool thing". the idea was shot down at the initial pitch. even the manual refers to samus as "him". there are conflicting reports as to whether or not they snuck in the idea of if her being revealed a woman at the end under a certain time was a compromise.

Federation Force is...an ok game. It's basically "so ok it's average". If you get it cheap, it's good enough for 1 playthrough, the story is somewhat interesting. The problem was releasing a spinoff, years after the last game (Other M, which was an insult to the series). That was NOT the right time to release a spinoff. If it had been released along with Samus Returns, it wouldn't have gotten as much hate. I mean, noone complained about Prime Pinball. Federation Force, as mediocre as it is, is an absolute 10/10 masterpiece compared to Other M, which is one of the worst games I have EVER played on any system. The only "worse" games are broken unfinished glitch fests or lazy Steam asset flips. Other M is 2/10, give me an entertainingly bad "so bad it's good" game like Ride to Hell over Other M any day. Other M is just, terrible. The gameplay is simplistic as hell, boring, and uncomfortable due to using the worst controller ever made. And the story is as bad as the gameplay, ridiculous OOC "bad fanfic" level nonsense.
