My father is deaf and I am from Nepal where the resources for deaf community is so limited. Everytime there's a movie or a show that tells the story of deaf people it just makes my heart full, the inclusion and the representation that is so rare. And it's beautiful how this trailer was released today on International Sign Language Day.

It is because AGBell foundation has purposely been working to ban ASL from our people since the 1800s, after publishing a eugenics paper saying he feared us becoming a powerful inferior Deaf race. That is why Deaf schools are dilapidated and public schools are well funded but do not teach deaf kids about their language and culture. That is why pediatricians urge hearing parents to use Baby ASL with hearing babies to increase their bonds and develop their brains and language skills, but BAN the hearing parents from using Deaf’s own language on their deaf and hard of hearing babies. Colonization. Eradication. They will urge to abort us if they find a gene in a test. In the UK they banned a Deaf couple from choosing a tested Deaf embryo when trying to get pregnant. We are not called by our identity Deaf, but “hearing impaired” by the hearing, who want us to think we are defective hearing people rather than a Deaf variety of the human race. Subhuman, our taxes go to hearing people to have access to goverment, but we get no interpreters, no real captions, no Congressmen or women, not even public school teachers are ASL Deaf unless subject is ASL for the hearing.
THIS is what he is talking abut. Ad yeah...kinda emotional.

This is just one aspect of the deaf community, which is at Gally U. Unfortunately Gally U is full of cancerous personalities in a toxic environment. Think of it as millennials but with proficiency in sign language. I've been to Gally before and wow... it was an eye opening experience because I've never experience something so toxic coming from a large group of deaf people. L R Fr the media is pushing Dark-Skin woman out of the picture by replacing us with half-breeds. That identify as black woman I can’t remember that last time a Netflix Cast had a dark-skin woman as a cast member. I see since they put all White girls as cast members the dark-skin men are going to get up with the white girls “Interracial relationship” I’m not saying that’s an issue there are just so much interracial examples of black men dating white girls on Netflix and social media out weighing Dark-skin woman dating white men.

This saddened me. Not sure why the negative sticks more than the positive. I’m happy that Deaf Culture is more on spotlight. But at 1:19, the dude asking girl “why mouthing”. And her response “not deaf enough”. That’s the story of my life for the last 10 years. I’m late deafened. Don’t fit in with hearing and Deaf made sure I knew that I’m not welcomed there. So yes, though I’m around folk, I still feel alone.
