Thanks for doing the test and sharing. I've used Citrosolve in the past and had fabulous outcomes, lots of variety. I don't believe it was the concentrate and it was a spray, but not foamy. I sprayed one side of the spread and then folded the other down, so less per page. I only used the colorful pages though and just love them all. You've inspired me to make some more, even though I have some left and copies too. Amazing to see what comes out.
I've done a bit of research here in Canada as I'm unable to find CitraSolv here. Amazon lists degeasers with d-limonene in them which may be an option. You can also get d-limonone to mix with water or vinegar to make your own degreaser, but it's not cheap in this form either. Local cleaning chemical stores may have d-limonene in your area. Something to consider. My local thrift store has stacks of NatGeos for pennies yet not one drop of CitraSolv to be found! I'm determined to find a solution (pardon the pun).
Fantastic! Pls let me know when you do 👍🏼 because I get asked all the time! I have not yet found an alternative to citrasolve but it must be out there! Cheers Froyle
Also in Canada- there is a product in our local pet shop that works like Citrasolve. It's for cleaning up pet mistakes. Unfortunately I don't remember what it is called. It's not a usual name. Perhaps some one knows it.
I think the foam will put too much air(and maybe other components) in the mix, and not a lot of the d-limonene will actually contact the ink layer on the page.the pages may also have a separate coating to get through before the ink print layer. Maybe one could spray the foam in a dish, and see if it settles to a liquid, and paint that on!
Thank you very much. I appreciate your generosity! I can get the citrisolve, just hard to find National Geographics magazines even at second hand stores. I'll keep searching!

I understand that the year of the print makes all the difference. This just may have to do with the Citrasolve concentration. The stronger concentration should work on the newer editions.
I've noticed that this works best with old Nat Geos. Didn't work well with current ones but worked really well with older ones 1960s 1970s. Has anyone else noticed this?
From what I've understood, it is the special clay coated papers that work and those are not used in the front advertising section. They probably have changed the inks, too. I know that the newer soy ink printed newspapers do not make windows shine like they used to.

Have you ever tried putting a 2nd layer of CitraSolv on pages that didn’t work out quite as you wanted? I’ve saved some pages for a repeat application, thinking I may not have originally used enough of the product. Which makes me wonder what would happen if you put CitriSolv over the disappointing WD-40 pages: might you get the results you were hoping for? Inquiring minds want to know!
Haha! Well the problem with this week was that the citrasolve didn't dry properly. So I don't think adding any more degreaser to those pages will not work. But next week I am experimenting with what to do with dull & boring pages, hope you join me! Cheers Froyle
Citrisolve is easy to get. I can’t find National Geographic. But wow does that work cleaning the cooktop hood and the inside of the glass toaster oven door.
Hi Froyle, I have used citrasolv on two NG so far and neither of them worked. They were both from 1990, do you use old ones or more recent ones. I don’t know if I should keep working through my pile or maybe wait till summer and see if that makes a difference🤣🤣 Thanks for sharing 🌺
I haven't been able to access National Geographic magazines, but I purchased a book from the op shop which has beautiful glossy paper and very colourful photographs. It's called Living World published by Dorling Kindersley, and has lots of nature photographs. Do you think this would work? I have repurposed the cover to make a travel journal, so just have the book block.
I don’t think so. I have only found National Geographic magazines to work with the citrasolve, all the best with your creative adventure 👍🏼 cheers Froyle
You are so brave! WD 40 and CitriSolve fumes both kill me! I do use Citrisolve in the backyard with a mask. But, I wonder if Goop oFF would work on any of the pages? Anything with fumes of death might work. Just a thought. I wear a full respirator often. I like my last brain cell. Big wink and hug!
Maybe the magazines? What date are they? What temperature is it where you live? I fine the cold weather affects the outcome. It doesn’t work as good, you need the warmth. Cheers Froyle
I've tried Citrasolv concentrate on 3 Nat Geo Mags and no results yet. My Citrasolv results are the same as the WD here. Not sure what I'm not doing right.
Make sure it’s the concentrate citrasolve. Do you brush it on or spray it? What about temperature? This week was just too cold & it didn’t dry properly, it’s so annoying when it doesn’t work! Cheers Froyle
@@FroyleArt It was concentrate and I sprayed it. The weather wasn't cold. Maybe an errant bottle of Citrisolv. I'll keep trying because I love the results you got.
@@barbarakangas3255 that is so weird? You did everything right, definitely try another bottle, it is worth the effort. When it works the papers are amazing! 😄 cheers! 😘
WD-40 is a lubricant to keep things from squeaking. You use it for office chairs that have squeaky parts. Or to lubricate rusting parts that need to move together. Does that make sense?
It will be difficult to find another product with such a high concentration of D.Limonen. I did some research and in France, these are products for professional use in the industry. Moreover, citrasolv is not found in France because it is declared toxic for the skin, eyes ... I tested with a few drops of citrus essential oil. the cheapest (400 euros per liter 😮). It seems to work but I don't want to sell my house 🤣😂
I tell ya what I'm thinking (for what it's worth...not alot🧐) The WD40 was so wet that it leeched through to your CS pages when you closed the book and interfered with the process preventing Froyling! ❣️Hugs Lisha
Oh yes great theory! 👍🏼 I like it! But the horrible cold winter is taking it’s toll! I think it was too cold & the citrasolve just didn’t dry properly, so I’m doing the next experiment when it is warmer again, I’m going to test magazines from different years 👍🏼 cheers

Bahahahaha! Sausage sizzle is where there is a pop up BBQ cooking sausages & putting them on bread with onions & sauce! Right out the front of Bunnings! It smells amazing & cost $2 raising money for a charity! It’s a classic! 👍🏼🤣
I understand that only certain years of nat geo issues work with the citra solv. It’s the ink they use to print them.
I think that would make a great experiment! I might try the different years! Cheers Froyle
Citrisolve is easy to get. I can’t find National Geographic. But wow does that work cleaning the cooktop hood and the inside of the glass toaster oven door.
Haha! Well at least you put it to good use! Cheers Froyle
omgosh your breathing that stuff for such a long period of time...dont do that anymore♥its killing you
Haha! It probably is! Thanks for joining me! Cheers Froyle
I see a tall door in a rock wall in the last image! ; )
Haha! You’re funny! 😆
Hi try a beautiful salon for the oil
Thanks for the tip! 😘 cheers!
Hey Froyle, does Citrasolv work with any other magazine pages that you know of?
Not that I have found! Cheers Froyle
Fun! Where can I buy that bubbly circle stencil and also the nest stencils from another of your lessons ? Thank you !!
PMArtist studio.com love it! 👍🏼😍
I think the oil in the Citrasolv is also critical!
I think you could be right! 👍🏼 it was a good experiment & I can say with certainty they nothing else works! 😆
LorriMarie Jenkins recommends 1976 and older NatGeo mags. ❤️
I'm going to test that theory!! Cheers Froyle
I think I’m going to experiment with the different years, but definitely more towards summer! It’s very cold & wet here right now! 😍
National Geographic After 2000
Your Skillshare is great!
Thank you so much! 😘 cheers Froyle
The longer they sit the better, for me at least. I let mine sit for a week or more in a plastic bag. ❤️👍🏼
Oh wow!! I’ve never let mine sit for that long! 😯 maybe I should try it! 😘 cheers Froyle
Do you have a link to the stencils you used? I love the circle one. Thank you.
I think I got it from here, although it was a v dry long time ago, cheers Froyle store.thecraftersworkshop.com/product-category/stencils/
You are so freakin funy! ♥
Haha! 😂 😘 cheers Froyle
Haha! Oh yes I agree! You try Goop off! 🤣 haha! I have tried so many! Let me know if it works! 👍🏼😘 cheers Froyle
Have you tried Brake Clean?
No! Have you? I haven't found anything else to work like citrasolve, but I keep looking! Cheers
so I tried ordering Citra Solve in Belgium but shipping is almost same as product so it wil be a no no
Yep shipping is so painful! 😫
Darn it! But thanks for making me 😂
Haha! Oh I’m glad my agony was good for something! 🤣🤣🤣
I also had less results using on at cooler temperatures
Oh yes!!! I think the weather does matter! 👍🏼 cheers
From Australia....have you tried citrus shower power?
Most probably! 😂 I haven’t found any other product to work! 😘 cheers!
I tried it and nothing happened -figured out I ordered the un concentrate - then ordered the concetrate - still nothing happened. Any ideas?
😄 cheers! 😘
Have you tried a hairdryer? Would that help?
Maybe? I might try that next time! I’ll let you know! 😘 cheers Froyle
Will current issues of National Geographic work? I have heard it takes older ones (10 years ago or older)?
I will have to do further experiments! I have heard conflicting results! 😆 some say pre 1970 & some say post! So to be continued! 👍🏼 cheers Froyle
WD-40 is a lubricant to keep things from squeaking. You use it for office chairs that have squeaky parts. Or to lubricate rusting parts that need to move together. Does that make sense?
Yes for sure! 👍🏼 cheers Froyle
Oh no that’s not good, about being toxic!!! Maybe it’s good that you can’t get it! 😆 let me know how your essential oil works out! 😘 cheers Froyle
thanks for your trial and error
Haha! So much fun! I'll show you how to fix those bad pages next week! Cheers Froyle
Is there somewhere in nz you can get citrasolve?
I have bought it from Cleaning Specialist Supplies 👍🏼 cheers
it did not worl for me. Not sure why...
It could be the magazine dates? Temperature? You need the citrasolve concentrate, cheers
Amazon ships here free. Will it in your country?
No it's very expensive to ship to NZ, cheers Froyle
Does it have to b national geographic mags?
Yes for this particular technique 👍🏼
What is it about National Geographic magazine that causes this reaction?
I tell ya what I'm thinking (for what it's worth...not alot🧐) The WD40 was so wet that it leeched through to your CS pages when you closed the book and interfered with the process preventing Froyling! ❣️Hugs Lisha
Oh yes great theory! 👍🏼 I like it! But the horrible cold winter is taking it’s toll! I think it was too cold & the citrasolve just didn’t dry properly, so I’m doing the next experiment when it is warmer again, I’m going to test magazines from different years 👍🏼 cheers
Fantástico!!!
Thank you! 😘
Isn't there something about using the older Nat Geo's?..The ink of the newer ones isn't as responsive?
I heard the opposite! 🤣 I’m going to have to experiment with the different years! 👍🏼 cheers Froyle
I tried WD40 a while ago, it didn't work fir me either, it wasn't the citrus one though. I wonder if it's the limonene that moves the ink.
Isn't it just so annoying! Cheers Froyle
Does it work on any magazines? or just Nat Geos?
Just National Geographic, it’s something to do with the clay based ink 👍🏼
Have you tried the Citrasolve successfully on other glossy magazine pages?
No I haven’t! Have you? I tried once but it didn’t do anything & I didn’t want to waste my expensive citrasolve! 😆 cheers Froyle
@@FroyleArt No, I haven't. :)
I live in the U.S and you cant find it here either . ..
BLICK but only on line.
It's the only thing that works well, cheers Froyle
Did you ever try turpentine?
No I haven’t, I hate the smell! I don’t mind this citrus smell! Cheers Froyle
I've used turpentine and it works but not as well as CitraSolve- it takes a lot longer and is messy and doesn't smell like oranges!! Also, I get the OLD Nat Geo mags- like before 1973??? Hope this helps....... thanks for the video.
Thankyou! 😆 oh that would smell terrible! But always good to experiment 👍🏼 cheers Froyle
You never know if something works unless you try it.
That’s exactly right!! 😘👍🏼
I HAVE SEEN ACETONE USED TO ALTER MAG PAGES. COULD YOU DO ONE OF YOUR EXPERIMENTS WITH THIS??? PLEASE!
I don’t think it would work! But if you try it let me know! Cheers Froyle
Is it possible that National Geographic has changed their ink? The magazines themselves feel different. Maybe… Thanks for doing the experiments.
Yes I have heard that! 👍🏼 another experiment needed! 😊
