Good thing it's totally reversible. The neck on the T-60 is just too thin and skinny for some people. This was just a demo to show it can be done. Both guitars are back to stock now

How is the neck the complaint on these things?!?! My '79 T-60 has the most comfortable neck I have ever put my hands on. I've been playing for about 30 years now and still hold that belief. If I was to ever change it, I would go with a EGC aluminum neck.

I remember these new in stores-cool and innovative at the time. All we complained about was the weight.

I know the feeling of owning a guitar with too small of a neck. Years ago I lucked into a killer deal on an original made in the USA 1972 Telecaster Thinline. I jumped at the deal after I confirmed it wasn't a reissue. Once I got some time to really play it my hand would cramp up from the neck being too small. I thought about buying a replacement neck and playing it, but decided to keep it as it was. I still have it and never play it.
If you wanted to keep the T-60 and play it, finding a used Peavey Reactor for a donor guitar might provide you with a suitable neck replacement. I have a Peavey Reactor and I love the neck on that guitar. It might be possible any Peavey neck might have the same pocket shape and dimensions. No idea if any of the modern Peavey necks would fit, but if they did, you'd at least have a correct headstock for the guitar.

I'm surprised by how easy that was. I have a similar Peavey and the thin neck is not for everyone. I have read that tele necks are a very good replacement also! Sounds great!

I thought the biggest complaint was the icepick setting lol which the T25 resolved by simply removing it ;-) bonus is that it's also easier/faster to access the settings you *do* want.
T60 and T40 can sound like literally any other instrument though, except maybe a Wal or anything powered by Darkglass (bass) or anything with EMG or Fishman active pickups (guitar). That's been their forte - but Hartley himself said they used mass in the beginning because they didn't understand yet that it was *where* you put the mass (among things) that mattered and you don't need the rest, resulting in the next generation of Peavey designs losing 25%-40% of the weight.
But you can save yourself about half the cost on an equivalent guitar (minus the icepick setting) by going with a T25.

That's a pleasant surprise that the screw holes on both brands are in exactly the same place. I was assuming you might find it bolted on fine but intonation might be way off as Fender and Peavey chose different distances down the neck to put the screw holes.

These were designed by Chip Todd to be compatible with telecaster necks. I've heard that association was where the T references in the t60. The t60 necks are great and very stable. The initial idea was for peavey to sell these t60 necks to be swapped on telecaster bodies.

Well, all I can say is, I hope you retain all the parts on any changes you make to that guitar, because I think it will become more and more collectable down the road. I think for the most part, people like certain necks based on their hand size, I know not in every single case but generally. I love the neck on this guitar, but I have smaller hands, it feels very comfortable to me. It's a GREAT guitar, unique, and built like a tank.

I've owned most of the T series guitars. I currently have a T-27, T-15 and a T-40. All of the guitars, for better or for worse, have pinner necks. So be it; take it or leave it. As they've never been my main guitars so I'm fine with it. Ironically, the T-40 bass has a pretty chunky neck. Later Peavey guitars have much more conventional neck profiles.

The t-60 is indeed a slim neck... Killer for power chords... weird for other stuff. I do love mine, and I'm not messing with it.

I love the T-60 but the first video I saw years ago about that guitar turned me right off. I have had a couple necks made for fenders and would for sure have to do the same for a T-60. Most fender necks I feel are even too small.

@@boechlerguitarsandrepair I have one of those guitars there is nothing wrong with the stock neck. That’s a lot of effort for .02 mm but if it’s worth it to you knock yourself out. It’s a great guitar stock. My biggest complaint is the weight of the body. But it is balanced there is no neck drop. So it’s a great guitar stock.
