I came across Emma Lou Diemer's choral works during college. And so you can imagine my pure delight in discovering this! Thank you for a thoughtful, beautiful performance. I must find this piece and learn it now.
Todays, we barely have opportunities to listen hymns played with organs. And people tend to think that organ is old-fashioned. But I like this sound more than modern worship sound even I am young. Am I wrong?
+Chad Lee No You are not.. Its good to appreciate this kind of music which should never die.... But do have some beautiful contemporary worship too.....
Gorgeous!!! Many folks will just be bowled over with the gorgeous playing, and won't know how you took an arpeggiated arrangement of John B Dykes hymn tune, St. Agnes, and: 1) separated out the hymn tune into a solo voice, 2) beautifully built up a crescendo into the second verse, 3) deftly voiced and balanced the instrument so sub and super coupled strings are neither too heavy, nor too screechy (hat's off on that trick!), and 4) added a thumb-down descant on French Horn as the piece closes. Amazing demonstration of organ building, finishing, and playing. 3 master classes in the world of the organ in 3 minutes.
Sublime! (The organ, the performance, and the arrangement!) I will be imitating this recording as much as possible the next time I can work this in as an offertory. Thanks!
I like this composition. The taste, texture, dynamics and fluent sound. Great playing! Touches the heart.

Melody lines and stop selections are so beautiful....Thank you again Doug
I have NEVER heard this played more beautifully. Splendid! You do Virgil proud, Mr. Marshall. And, by the way, the organ is stunning.
It's in volume 2 of "With Praise and Love" by Emma Lou Diemer. Great piece! - Doug

No you are right. The organ is the queen of instruments and the best sound you can wish.
Quite a few churches still use organs.

I like it way more than anything contemporary.

Yes it's a digital organ with 48 speakers, of which 4 sub woofers. Check the M&O website for more info :-)
Who's arrangement is this? I keep thinking I need to buy a ticket and fly east so I can test these organs out.
