MichelZelf What?!? You must be kidding me! The ring around the camera is finally gone! I couldn't stand it anymore! And the camera is now 8mpx vs that old 5mpx junk sensor, finally! The mini 3 is a totally new product, 10/10 would buy...
If you really, really want gold or touch ID on the Mini, then yes. But otherwise no. Personally I would go for the Air 2. Much better internals. Look at the benchmarks in Mike's Air 2 video for proof.

Nikhil Varughese it’s based on your option, if you choose the Wi-Fi only model didn’t contain the SIM card, but if you choose the Wi-Fi + Cellular model contain the SIM card. Both have a different price

I have the first iPad mini. It's an amazing tablet, but it's starting to lack behind. I wouldn't upgrade to the iPad mini 3 however. I would just stick to getting the iPad mini 2 instead.

Yeah maybe they want to stop the ipad mini line therefore they can have another product (ipad 12.2") because they have already made the iphone 6 plus with the tablet-like features and faster processor than ipad mini 3 so no one would like to buy the new ipad mini 3. But i think they should have unless put apple a8 SoC in ipad mini 3.

I bought the iPad Mini 3 for portability reasons. Had it been lighter, it would've been a win for me. Anyways it's my first ever iPad so if those of you who are potentially looking to be a first time iPad owner, this is a no-brainer.

I pad mini 3= WORTH IT!! Especially if you need that extra space. But we all agree that the iPad air 2 is the best choose and in my opinion the way to go.
I love my Ipad mini3 - very versatile, easy to carry around plus has finger print so I do not mind paying US$100 extra which is worth it...because I waited a long time using my Ipad 1st Generation waited for many years to invest on my IPADMINI3.. I LOVE IT

Okay at my school we can bring whatever device we want for school work and class. I have a laptop, but I am seriously, seriously getting sick of carrying it around all day, waiting for it start up and arghhh! So I'm thinking buy an iPad for normal school days, notes, class etc.. but bring my laptop for assessment time. BUT. I want to get the latest iPad, so it can last for as long as possible. I am buying it from Apple. (warranty right??) but they are expensive.. so I want everyone's opinion! Should I save up extra for the iPad Air 2 or buy a mini? Is there much difference apart from the size? TIA !! :) :)
I don't have either, but have spent a lot of time in stores, testing them out. I have tiny hands, and prefer the iPad mini 3 over the Air 2. The Air 2 is pretty much like carrying a laptop screen around. It's fairly big, and I found it to be uncomfortable to use. Whereas the mini 3 was PERFECT in size as far as comfort, and seemed the best in portability. It's easy to just stick in your purse, or carry with your school books. I imagine the Air 2 would be bulky. I'm also struggling with which one to get though, due to the specs comparison. The Air 2 really is much faster, but when I think about how well my iPhone 5s works with its A7 processor, after having it for a year, I don't think you'd care about the difference when using it. I would go for the mini 3 if you're using it moderately, or just for games and simple things, like browsing the Internet and Netflix. But if you don't mind the larger size, and plan on running the hell out of it with high quality games and streaming videos, then the Air 2 would be best. Hope this helps (:

Its kinda weird that the mini has the rotation lock button, while the air 2 doesnt.
Not really because apple fucked us all over and untouched the mini yet put a fucking fingerprint reader for 100 dollars.
I'm surprised they even keep selling the mini 2 for the same thing 100 less.

i have the first gen iPad mini , i honestly don't care about the retina display. I'm not upgrading cause i just got the iPad mini in june, in 2 years ill upgrade my iPad mini to the newest iPad wich might be the iPad mini 4 or the iPad air 3 :)
If you're on the original iPad mini, YES! I have been using the iPhone 6 for a few weeks now and with my line of work the Touch ID is hard to appreciate when my fingers are dirty more Often than not. If I had clean hands Like +DetroitBorg it might be different.
Is it worth the upgrade? I mean, it looks like all Apple did was add new software, a Touch ID home button, and it's a little thinner... but if you have an iPad mini 2, I don't think it is worth the money.

I would like to get either the mini 2 or mini 3. The mini 3 is WAY mor expensive in my country so the mini 2 would be the best choice BUT, as the mini 3 is newer, wouldn't it get more updates than the mini 2? I mean it's not a completely new device so the mini 2 should get the same updates as the mini 3 until Apple forgets about them, right? Please answer!

I have the iPad Mini (1st gen). When the iPad Mini 2 came out, I didn't think it was worth upgrading for a faster processor and a retina display. And the Mini 3 doesn't interest me either. With the only big change being the finger print unlock, I'll just stick with my 1st gen.
I'm pretty disappointed with the iPad mini 3. I've always loved the iPad mini, except with this release apple has neglected to add even a faster chip. Going for the full size ipad by a long shot.

Ok they did a crappy job with mini 3, 100 bucks more for gold aluminium and touch id ? amazing pure brilliance, they did wonderful on ipad air 2, i mean they added a A8 chip, ipad air has best graphics out of all ipads, mini 3 still has A7, and mini does not have the 8 MP camera, it ain't worth it

I have an iPhone 5S and I love the touch ID. I'd really like to get the mini 3 with 64GB when I get the money since I would like a tablet I can hold in one hand. I would get an iPhone 6+ but there isn't a huge difference between the 5S and 6+ to me and I used my upgrade in April to get the 5S.
I've always considered a tablet but sold mine because I couldn't make that much use out of it because I have a phone and laptop already. Is there something you have in mind to do with the tablet that makes you really want it? I'm curious to know if I'm missing out on anything.
Charles Tiu I am a small mobile DJ and high school, almost college student and I need a system I can be productive on that I can rely on for a long time. I already have a macbook pro with retina display and a school-issued iPad 2 that I can keep when I graduate but it's outdated and I need something better. I thought the mini was a stupid idea when it came out but after my cousins and sister got them, I started liking it better than the regular size. I linked my iPad, Mac, and iPhone all to the same iCloud account so all my important school documents are synched in case I have a problem and all my contacts, calendars, and reminders are synched so I get them on any of my devices.
I've owned my iPad mini (1) for one or two years, and it's such a perfect size that my brother's regular iPad looks like a TV display. Definitely do get your hands on one to own, because I heard Apple may kill the line off.

I have the original and retina iPad mini and was looking forward to the third generation. When Apple updated the iPad Air I was hoping to get the same features in the mini and disappointingly it isn't any different than the second generation. So this year rather than getting a new iPad mini I plan on getting the gold iPad Air 2. I always likes the form factor of the mini, being almost pocketable but I haven't had a full iPad since the iPad third gen. So it will be nice to get a new 9.7 inch version.
The mini 2 and mini 3 are literally identical in specs. The only difference between the two is that the mini 3 has a a 128gb model and fingerprint ID scanner, which isn't worth the $100+ more difference. I ordered the 2 instead and saved $100 in which I purchased accessories for it.

Im returning my Ipad Mini 3 today! A couple of quirks that i found is, the text on facebook/youtube and apple app reviews is so tiny i cant read it. Ive tried everything to make the fonts/text bigger even on the accessibility view. The zoom feature is horrible. I guess the apps are not optimized for the ipad mini? My HTC provides bigger font/text on all apps and I don't have to squint to read anything and of course its half the size of the mini.

Definitely not! They should have given the mini 3 the same upgrades as the ipad air 2, but apple wants the next version to be a monumental upgrade. Pfft.

I think there is no iPad Mini 3, it is just iPad mini 2 over stock units that had been equipped with the touch ID and a slight change on the camera design. Too many iPad minis 2 on stock, that's why we didn't get iPad Air specs.
I wouldn't upgrade from an iPad Mini 2 to this, and personally i would wait until one comes out with an A8 chip. But that's just my opinion

I truly think the Mini 3 should drop the price by at least $50. There's not much more to offer. I LOVE touch ID, however In mine as well as many people's eyes, it's not worth paying $100 simply to have a fingerprint scanner. However I love the design of the clear button, but I chose the iPad mini 2. There isn't much more to offer on the iPad mini 3, however if they dropped the price, I'm almost 100% positive that Apple's sales would become higher and I would buy the iPad mini 3 instead of the 2, which would still have them gain money, yet I wouldn't have to clear my wallet.
Had to choose today between a iPad air 2 gold wifi only at 64 gigs for 700 bucks at bestbuy or a ipad mini 3 gold 128 gig wifi and cell on sale for 580 bucks. I knew the iPad mini was smaller with a A7 chip instead of airs A8x but I needed the 128 gig and getting cell with it as a bonus and not just wifi only. So I said mini instead. Its still on bestbuy.com they price match to 580 bucks for iPad mini 3 wifi and cell 128 gig. Get it while its cheap. It reads near 800 bucks on apple.com for what I bought today. Sold my iPad mini 32 gig to help buy this one today, worth the upgrade on the memory alone.

Apple products are excellent and it depends on the users preference. Samsung or any android pads come with 1001 apps already running on the device. I button controls everything along with your thumb. Once you go red everything else is dead. Team Apple. Samsung tablets can cost just as much as a iPad so why not get a iPad
ipad mini 3 is just another branch to provide more option to the tablet marker of apple; forcing costumers who consider to buy apple table to buy it, due to its reputation, colour choice, and touch ID. So, this product is conceptually part of apple's "trick" to make more money, same thing they have done on the iPhone 5c.
