My Grandfather would take me to Oaks park every Sunday for the skating in the late 70s. He unfortunately was skating one night and passed away there. I believe his skates are on display there.
I worked here for a season as a ride op and had no idea about it being a trolley park. 🤯
Also, hearing my former boss talk about how important ride safety is gave me a GREAT laugh, thank you.

I was the odd kid in my class in that I never enjoyed going to Oaks Park or other amusement parks (like Disneyland and California Adventure, the only other ones I ever went to). I remember going to Oaks Park with my class for a field trip and being excited about going to an "oak park", because I was (still am) very into nature and hiking. My disappointment when I saw it was an asphalt parking lot and rides was immeasurable! I was bored sick. My favorite part about Oaks Park, funny enough, was the picnic/park area beside the park by the river where we had lunch or something. But in the end, I didn't do any of the rides as a kid because I was not into rides or anything of the sort. My favorite field trips were those out in nature, like the ones we did to Mt St Helens and the coast.
Would love to have seen more Historic vintage photos and history of the park....

I used to work at Oaks Park and worked with Arturo! Fun job as a ride operator, nice people, fun place.
Crazy I think just recently that blue Ride showing got stuck upside down loaded with customers... I hope everyone made it off safely..
It did, the atmosFEAR got stuck upside down for 25-30 minutes (sorces vary) with 28 people on it. Everyone was fine, though one rider with a pre-existing condition went to the hospital for safely. The ride has since reopened, but is only running on its 180 degree mode, instead of the 360 degree mode it got stuck on.
I went to Oaks Park a few times as a kid, but wen to just the rollerskating maybe a dozen times. I haven't been back in a decade now. I often wonder how its doing...but just don't have a motivation to visit despite the nostalgia.
My two favorite rides were the squirrel cages and the sea dragon and they are both gone. They have some cool new rides now but it’s just not the same for me
THE SQUIRREL CAGES ARE GONE??? THANK GOD. they almost killed people during the season I worked there…

@@theGingerAutistmaybe we’re talking about two different rides. The one I’m referring to was by the Ferris wheel and it kind of looked like one on its side and it had cages that fit 2 people you could rock and lock and make spin
