As someone who grew up in the area and was taken to wild waves a few times as a kid and my perspective is different than the one presented in the video. Wile climate is arguably a boon nowadays as there are not the cold winters that do a number on ride maintenance that other places have and most days in the warm months are perfect theme park weather global warming has changed the region a lot go back 20-30 years were would get years where you didn't get any days in the summer over 90 and would spend June overcast. I suspect when people talk about climate they are parroting stuff they heard a decade or two ago and have not updated their opinion on the matter because why would they care about something so minor. My memory on the "culture" as a kid was something like going to wild waves was neat but unusual. Even if you liked wild waves "go to theme park" was not in the cultural zeitgeist as it was not "go to theme park" it was "go to wild waves again". From spending time living in other area's in the us that have a large theme park presence I have observed people "rotate" parks to keep them fresh. Since the Seattle area only had wild waves it only took two or three visits to see everything it had to offer and then thats it. What I am trying to say is the lack of options prevented the "itch" to go to theme parks to be cultivated. Without the spice of variety even if you loved parks you could not really go to wild waves often. I had family in South Carolina and they would go to parks regularly every summer, sometimes even going to the favorites twice. No one in the Seattle area would go to a theme park every year because no one would go to Wild Waves, as fun as it is, on an annual rotation. It feels weird to put it like this, but culturally going to theme parks was not present and I would bet money it would not be anywhere close to getting on a top 100 list of things to do in the summer in the pacific northwest and thus even when new places would spring up no one would go to them because no one was interested in parks because there went any parks. I think for them parks to do well in the pacific northwest it is beyond the scope of any one place and instead an ecosystem needs to be cultivated. With global warming making the climate much more conducive to theme park actively I would speculate the chances are greater than ever for something like that to take off. Now, two modern day challenges not listed in the video are land being outrageously expensive and climate change now causing yearly annual fires filling weeks on end in the summer with toxic smog. I'm amazed to hear Wild Waves is still in operation. I would have guess it would have been purchased to be torn down and replaced with condos to be flipped for a fortune do to the worth of dirt being greater than gold nowadays.

It’s not that far of a trip to Disneyland though so it’s cool but the PNW could have great amusement parks, they just need to be primarily indoors.

I'm sorry but your Mack take feels so off base to me. You complain about their older rides mainly being unoriginal wild mice but they were one of the first to build them in the 1950s, then pushed their resurgence in the mid 90s, standardising their modern design. Also in the 90s, they created what was arguably the first "true" water coaster with Escape from Atlantis at SeaWorld, with both that and their recent PowerSplash models being copied by other manufacturers like Intamin. More recently, they basically set the industry standard for modern coaster train design, with Blue Fire introducing the open trains and OTS lap bars that you praised yourself earlier in the video. Yes, B&M's hypers have fairly open seats, and Maurer had been making inverting coasters with lap bars for years, but Mack combined both ideas and arguably perfected them, and it's telling that Intamin essentially copied Mack's design for their recent rides. Then let's not forget some of the insane elements they've added to recent rides, like Hyperia's outerbank roll, Voltron's inverted launch and everything they've done with the extreme spinner model. Mack's risks may be far more calculated than the likes of Intamin, but to act like they're complacent or never innovate is wildly unfair to them. As for the claim about industry trust? They've been hired to build the flagship coaster at Universal's multi-billion dollar new amusement park, in addition to a family spinning coaster. That, on top of all the work they're getting here in Europe is more than enough to clear any worries about that. If you want to talk about their actual weak point, it's the launches. Literally everyone talks about how weak their launches are. Also I know B&Ms have their rattle but to act like they're anywhere near as bad as the average Gerstlauer is insane to me. B&Ms rattle, but the worst Gersts bruise. Enjoyable video otherwise, keep up the good work 👍

Blaming B&M for the rattle, but not for their layout creativity is criminal... However, i see B&M going in the right direction with their latest coasters, even if Iron Menace just follows the old strategy

Would say Mack rides problems are thrill coaster to not be intense with really few exceptions.

I rode my first RMC this week (Twisted Timbers) and I could only ride it twice, because of how BAD the restraints are. They STAPLE your BALLS so goddamn hard it's genuinely painful. (Sorry for the obscene language but I truly couldnt find the words that would emphasize the point I was trying to make.)

i think something important to note with gerstlauer is that the infinity coaster can be configured with up to eight rows of four seats for a total of 32 riders per train, but parks opt against that

If the Mattel Parks roller coasters are successful, Chance rides has a....chance (had to) to edge out Zamperla and Skyline attractions in the industry. Which I would love because Lightning Run is amazing!

I will deffend Intamin always. Park ask for something and intamin dilivers.... but they should have asked for something normal. Universal asked for hagrid's... they got what they wanted XD a nightmare. Top trill dragster..... yeah, they could also have asked for a normal looping coaster. So to blame everything on intamin, no i think thats not fair, also blame the buyers

B&m is the new Boeing

I loved going to Enchanted Village as a kid, grew up in that time where Six Flags had ownership. There was only ever 1 ride that I didn't like, and you can see it several times through out the video, that being the coaster shown at 1:40. Those harsh turns caused so much whiplash, and the cars were very narrow with little to no padding. I remember smacking the side of my face on the side panel during one of the turns. Overall loved that park, lots of memories with my grandparents, but just that one ride.

I think Zamperla’s problem is that they’re trying hard to innovate but they just haven’t quite gotten some of the basics down like track profiling or even having padded seats in some of their models. The fact cedar point went with them to fix up dragster is astounding when they’ve just started putting out prototypes for their launch coasters, that’s what got them into trouble with dragster in the first place Current RMC’s biggest problem is the fact that they need to change up their Raptor seats, i got a joint cramp in my hip last time I sat in one. I also think they need to do a bit more with their elements like they’re starting to have more variety in their elements but they need to step out of their comfort zone more

Mack rides have been innovating a lot as of late. Hyperia is the most unique hyper I have done and Voltron is also innovative

I feel like the complaint of vekoma’s layout is kinda dumb? Saying they are similar to 4 other highly regarded manufacturers. Especially when some are not (F.L..Y for example). Mack, intamin and to some extent b&m all were heavily inspired by the RMC layouts

Intamin: they don't like tall people, in 1.98m tall (78inches) and its almost always a challenge for me to get on their rides.

I don't think the problem is lack of people's wanting to go. Wild waves, and to a lesser extent, great wolf lodge both frequently fill up their parks, despite being two of the worst water/amusement parks in the country. The evergreen state fair, and to a lesser extent for my region the Puyallup fair, both get flocked with visitors every time they're on as well. So I don't buy that. We also see that in areas where weather is prohibitively tough, there are indoor amusement parks or much more frequently indoor water parks that fill up the slack, one need only look at the extensive series of indoor waterparks in germany to see this is the case. I think some proper investments into some actually exciting parks outside of seattle could succeed, and i really hope we get something better soon.

I think rattle is gonna get to every manufacturer because steel quality is not what its used to now that steel is expensive the steel companies are trying to cut corners to give a better deal to the coaster manufacturers. And its making Coasters less smooth

Just ignoring the extreme spinners with Mack is crazy. Also criticizing GCI, RMC and Premier for being good at what they do and not branching out is weird when what they do is good.
