  • Of all the watch collecting niches, few are more curious (and potentially divisive) than watches that are completely (or almost completely) without any markers and branding. In this video, Zach Weiss and Zach Kazan look at a number of watches that prioritize the artistic vision of the maker by eschewing traditional markers, or other dial indicators that make it easy to precisely note the time at a glance.

Huh, I basically adore 80% of these watches and they're on my 'attainable grail' pieces. I didn't realise one of the common factors between them was the lack of markers. Now I do, I found out something about myself from your video, that's pretty cool.

Great vid! Thanks. The last watch I bought is a markers less one : the redentore ultrablack from Venezianico. And it is just stunning.

I love the Oris Artelier S. So minimal. Zen dial. Very discreet hour and minute marks.

Marker less watches are for pure flex. No body is buying it for precision or legibility rather a variety in a collectors watch box.

I find the comments about a watch that has no index markings and question can you tell the time or having trouble reading it to be silly.. especially if you've been an avid watch collector and have owned many watches.
Hell, even if you havent, i think all of us since as early as we could start reading an analog clock should be very familiar with how to tell the time, if not a close enough approximation of it, just by looking at the relative positions of the hour and minute hands. Just that basic experience of watch ownership and simply reading the time off a clock on the wall in school or at work should be enough to recognize what time it is showing by just the minute and hour hand positions.
That being said, I do prefer watches with full set of index markings as I am a bit anal on setting my watches accurately and being able to more accurately record their performances on a timekeeping app.
I can appreciate a marker-less dial and admiring the quality and/or art of the dial. But, they're not for me these days.. i think I left that part of me behind when I was more consistently collecting Swatch watches back in the 80s-early 2000s.

I wish I could, but I can’t get behind dials with no markers. Don’t call it a Watch , call it something else.

Dials need markers. Otherwise, the point of the precision movement is lost.

Watches have minimal utility in todays day and age and the“precision” is debatable, might as well enjoy the aesthetics

I can't bring myself to buy a watch with no markers on the dial. I wish I could, cause there's some cool looking ones out there.
