I finally got to use this double drop coat method on the Tacoma bedside,it's much better technique than mine by far, i was able to see the difference under my portable sun light. I'm 47 ,who says you can't teach a old dog tricks.you did to me ! thank you again !
+audi4ever haha I'm so glad my friend!!! It worth spending hours editing to see a comment like this one! Thank you!!
Always paint edges and difficult areas first to avoid runs. Your wheel edges as well which you didn’t do. I always change my overlaps sections on each coat. Never the same twice like you did into the fender and quarter panel It helps make sure you get proper mil all across each panel. Hope that tip helps guys out.
Frosty
You should make your own video !!
nice video bro keep moving forward💪
As a suggestion to viewers .... Can you mention how much paint , primer etc , clear was mixed for each repair , ie bumper xx oz used, or door xx base mixed.
Can you also show us how you make let down cards for colour matching tri coats or difficult colours to match during blending
+henri I will try my best 😀😀
You only get stripping or corn rows is PPG, you did a good job btw considering the junk paint..
Thanks for the tip on turning off the booth lights. We sometimes use DC3000. Have you shot that and what are the pros and cons versus the clear you shoot normally? Personally I really like it compared to the other clear we use.
Great video and a precise informative commentary.
Thanks my brother !!
Hey Gabriel I'm a subscriber and really love your videos they've helped me a lot improving my work to a better result, my paint and clear are pretty good I've only got trouble on waterbase colour matching most of the time my colour looks lighter or darker even though it comes up as a 4 or 5 on spectro, I always check the colour before spraying it looks really good and blendable but when I paint most of the time you can see the difference, please I know you're very busy with work and videos but if you do get the chance please make a video of how you choose the colour how you mix and how you choose the colour thanks man
Hey brother thanks! I suck at color matching hahaha I would try to use a different gun and see if that makes a difference. Sometimes the gun sprays in a way that changes the color but I will try my best to do a video
Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
👍 good tips 👌 thx for your time
Great videos learning alot thanks!!!
I know this is an older stream but Im curious on the hood. You masked the hood to the edge of Im guessing a body line but how do you not get a variance in the colors or a tape line? Its awesome how you tend to try and answer all the questions from the viewers.
Hey buddy. Great job making your videos, teaching, explaining and how you live your life with your approach to all of this. Very inspiring.. I see you using this blue paper masking or plastic.. why do you use this instead of the clear bag that comes from the roll? Thanks
Thanks so much!! We are now. It was because I have 5 preppers and they all do things differently
The blender helps as well
How do you make sure you don’t cause the car you’re painting to look seedy after clearing after your drop coat?
Few things is make sure you are reducing the base like factory says. Also painting temp between 75-80 degrees also you can use a wet bed
Thanks I will try that and let you know the results. Currently I tried turning the heat off to do the drops and i got a cleaner results. But I’ll try the 75-80 range.
hi my Friend, how's everything, thanks again for your job, thanks for your time, because in USA Time is very expensive,But you find the time and do these cognitive videos for us.thanks.
bro tell me please, im going to buy iwata ws400 as a told you before, so better to buy 1.3 or 1.4 for clear???
+Sergey Hovhannisyan I would buy a 1.3 my friend.
Thank you so much for your kind words
MOTIVATED PAINTERS thanks again bro.
+Sergey Hovhannisyan my pleasure!!
Thankyou, that was great
+Tosh twentythree I'm so happy that it helped!
Motivated painter, why are you using the Sata 5000.? Didn't you say you like & prefer the Devillbiss base coat gun..because of it's lower psi ability...!!
+Arianamarie Fernandez because I have multiple jobs on the go. So I have different guns I use 😀
I’m spraying solvent base coat on dealer jobs... quick question. I know for water you lower your pressure on the drop coat, but what about solvent??? It’s been a good 6 years since I’ve sprayed solvent and I think we used to RAISE our air pressure for solvent. Do you know???
I believe you are right my friend
Hey man, I’ve heard that if you put the control coat on when it’s flashed you can run into adhesion problems with the clear. Basically you are putting on a mist coat. What’s your opinion as a expert and your experiences?
All paint lines are different. Ppg you are supposed to let it flash off before applying control coat and also clear coat
Thanks
doing a nardo grey soon haven't painted it before. it's a solid should I do a control cost as well. Haven't done a solid colour in a very long time been doing Metallics
+Sahil if there is not mettalics don't control coat but if you are having trouble blending of leave your pressure at 28and pretend you are applying a control coat
Please do u have some idea how can make a clear very very smooth never orange peel
I use clear ec520 thanks for u bro
What is control coat or what to use as control coat please some body answer
Look at the silver playlist. It's the last coat before clear. All paint company call it something else but it's a coat to get the mettalics to stand up properly
How long did u wait in between coats
Does the iwata lph400 work for base with ppg water base, I have the nova for clear I am switching from solvent to waterbase or should I look into getting a sata 5000hvlp for base
What's right pressure on sata 5k hvlp for drop coat 1.2/1.4 ?
18 psi
If you lower the pressure when applying the drop coat, isnt that going to make the particles/metallics larger?
+Brulserz the control coat is supposed to be applied at a lower pressure that is the way to get the Metallics to sit the way they are supposed to 😀 that's what ppg says anyways 😁😁😂
And if you are spraying solvent based, whats the deal then?
+Brulserz I don't spray solvent so I can't pretend to know that my friend
I understand. Thank you.
+Brulserz your welcome! Please forgive me for geeing no help 🤤🤕
hey man, what's the wax and grease remover you're using to wash the panels ?
+Alejandro Magana hello! It's called prime wash and it's made by calsco
When doin your lighter colors do you use 490?
Yes I tend to!
Came out nice How much paint did you use 👍
Haha this was while ago!! No idea
😊 ok 👍👍👍
why are you only masking half of the car? is your spray booth that good???
Luis De Leon we spray mask the rest of the car it protects it from overspray 😀
MOTIVATED PAINTERS oh okay, I never seen that trick before lol
MOTIVATED PAINTERS i have heard of spray masking, but i didnt know anybody actually uses it. I always figured it was quicker just to bag the car.
Hello, what do you use for the control coat?
+nylsson lopez depending on the gun I drop my pressure to 15-18 psi and I move faster. Not sure if that was your question
😍😍😍😍😍
This is ppg solvent base?
+MILE VOJVODA no it's PPG water-based envirobase
Sry my Engl..no metalic particles inside black base?
+MILE VOJVODA neither is mine!! Straight back BMW 668 no Metallics
👍👍👍👍👍👍
really nice video. Can i send you dm?i have a question for you that i really need to talk about so i could understand it.hope i get a reply from you thanks keep it up. nicee 👍⬆️💯
what pressure is your control coat
Can you reply?
18 PSI 😁
@@MOTIVATEDPAINTERS thanks
Durr the way you say blend makes me mad 🥴THUMBS DOWN!
What reducer do you use? I use T494 and I think it dries too fast causing mottling
I use the same but I think ppg has a slower reducer for super dry areas
I think we use it but rarely, other people in the shop recommend it for tri coat
