@@Icelandair_B767it definitely will be. Boeing still produces the 767F so those will be flying for another 20-30 years. Also, in addition to the freighter, the 767 will live on as the KC-46 Pegasus, which is partially replacing older KC-135s.

The Airbus A350 has developed an envious reputation for quality, performance and efficiency, launching a freighter version of this relatively new but proven aircraft is almost a no brainer. This time around the Airbus seems to have the beating of the Boeing although with fewer orders thus far although 34 of the 777XF orders are from Qatar, possibly in a fit of pique during their disagreement with Airbus. If I was a betting man I would put money on Airbus with the A350F outselling Boeing’s 777XF.

The results from the Haneda incident have not been finalised. It is likely the design of the aircraft contributed to that accident.

Given that the 777X passenger variant is way way behind schedule, Will this impede the production of a freighter?
Will the FAA restrict their activities in order that Boeing concentrate on solving the problems of the FrankenMax ?
If customers can’t trust Boeing to deliver, it could harm their prospects.

With all the issues at Boeing and the 777X delays, I'm thinking some airlines are thinking it's worth taking a punt on the A350F.

777XF still has an edge in payload range and cargo space as it seems, but safe to say A350F is very close. THY and Cathay's endorsement is an act of trust to A350F, as both of them are some of the biggest cargo airlines in the world.

I would say, it depends on the out come of Boeings troubles with the MAX. I know its a completely different aircraft but the management at Boeing has a remit, that wont change across aircraft. People are asking which aircraft is next? That implies the 777x and its freighter version. Personally, I would go for the 350F. I am not sure, what others might do, given Boeings bad image.

With those "undisclosed customer" airframes, I'm guessing Airbus is probably the customer.
Airbus has some very large aircraft to deliver components for manufacturing, which is good for large components like wings and sections of the body. But not every component needs such a large aircraft to deliver it. So this A350F could be used to deliver components that aren't so big and help the manufacturer with it's production.

    • @MrSchwabentier

Well, the real Question is, how Boeing is doing in the near to middle future regarding 777-8F. If Boeing´s Problems continue with 737MAX, 787 and 777X certification, they could fall behind Airbus und maybe some Order of 777-8F will be canceled and could be converted to A350F´s. But who reallly knows what the future brings...
