  • March 23, 2017 - Don't you just love when you cringe at the sound of your voice and hear yourself speak in incoherent sentences? Well I do, haha (jk). Nah, but in all seriousness, I thought this would be cool to share with you guys. There will be more stacking videos, but for right now, enjoy the semi-monotone vlog (or whatever you want to call it, lol). And I'm using my dad's laptop, still gotta get a new one. This video was also shot around 3 in the morning, so yeah...
If I do seem discouraged at any point of the video, I'm not. In fact, I embrace every bit of what is shown on the screen. No matter what the results say, I'm still me.
Plus, one thing I forgot to mention was that the kit is $100, so it is kind of expensive. If you're willing to give it a try, you can check it out here: www.ancestry.com/dna
This video is not sponsored. Just a fun idea to show my subscribers. If you enjoyed this video, feel free to give it a like, comment, share with your friends, and subscribe. ;)

Hey man, cool results, I am always intrigued to look at people's results as the human race is so mixed up. I noticed you were talking about your Scandinavian DNA and how its more likely linked to Germany. Have you ever considered that maybe one of your ancestors in Scotland may have lived in the islands of Shetland? My partner did her ancestry DNA test, and she is 100% British English as far as she knows, but she ended up with about 50% Scandinavian ancestry, with the rest being Great Britain (English and probably Celtic, you are more British than her!). Having watched a program that explains British DNA, and also having some deeper looks into her DNA, it seems that a lot of these islands in the north of Scotland have many people who came straight from Norway, as Norse vikings pretty much came and settled in those islands. In fact, they still celebrate vikings and stuff every year. I believe my partner was actually able to trace some ancestry back to the Orkney Islands as she has found out she has Orcadian.
Another thing is that Anglo Saxon people (the English) intermingled with local indigenous British populations. The Anglo Saxons can trace their origin from Denmark and Northern Germany, hence why a lot of DNA researches conclude that Danish DNA and Anglo Saxon DNA is very hard to differentiate. What is strange, is that she had no Western Europe.
I would recommend you watch a program called Blood Of the Vikings which has a look into Britain and the amount of Germanic DNA which makes up the modern British Isles. There is also a Blood of the Celts which I believe looks at Scotland and Ireland specifically. Its all interesting. I do believe you have some German as well.
One thing to note is that I have a friend whom is fully Danish. She came out as 30% Scandinavian with 56% Great Britain and 24% Eastern Europe. I don't know what to make of that one, but perhaps that could also be Danish being mistaken as Anglo Saxon...who knows!
As for me, I took the test and I am 55% Native American, 38% Iberian (Spanish), and 7% West Asian (which I assume has more links to Spain, as there has always been heavy interaction between the Middle East/North Africa and Southern Europe.

Nalfylatino 87 Late reply FTW!! Haha, very informative stuff. I've always been told that my family was mostly Irish. As it turns out, only some of our Irish ancestors might not be as Irish as we thought. It's definitely in us, but according to our research, we had a significant amount of Scottish ancestors and even a good amount of English as well.
We knew about the Scottish and English part, but at the time, we didn't know how much. On my mother's side, I had a great-great grandfather who had an Irish father and a Scottish mother, and would call himself 'Scotch-Irish." So it's not a shock that I have mostly Scottish, Irish, and English on both of my parents' side.
What took me back was the high percentage of Great Britain. I thought I would at least have a third of that and a third of Ireland. I'm waiting back for my parents' results to see what they get back. Hopefully, it'll clear up some answers.
What also took me back was when my co-worker told me I looked English and I kind got offended when she said that, lol. Not to sound like a millennial that's always offended, but the first thing I describe myself when it comes to ancestry, English is not the first thing that comes to mind as Scottish and Irish are. Ain't nothing wrong with being English, just didn't think someone would say that, haha.
I'll check out those documentaries when I get a chance. Thanks for the comment! :)

@@DanKlein1995 well Scotland was founded by Irish people before that it was the Picts right? So that's where you get the term Irish-Scotts and the Mc/Mac names too i think 😊 💪

Human is actually a species, with multiple race genome, and some people actually have Neandertal blood, which is not a part of the human species genetically. Everyone is diverse in their special way, and should be respected. Variety is the spice of life speaking from a Native American stand point.

I've read a lot about melongeons they are a triracial group started with white indentured female servants and black male slaves who were socially equal in colonial Virginia they kept moving west toward Tennessee to escape Jim crow. they would tell their neighbors they were Portuguese to explain their color

I can tell you if your ancestors came from Great Britain and Ireland you are almost certain having Scandinavian DNA. Outside Scandinavia Great Britain score the highest percentages of Scandie-DNA. You know the vikings settled down on the British Isles about 1200 years ago. They were already then related to the Anglo-Saxon. Both were Germanic tribes . After the vikings had settled down they very quickly assimilated with the Saxons and after two or three generation they were Anglo-saxons. I read in a book once that already during the 12 th Century the vikings/Scandinavians had forgotten their Scandie roots. But a huge amount of modern English Words today are basically originated from Norse/viking language. You can google it if you like

Ruth Lee I know that. It's that according to Ancestry, Scottish DNA could also be found in Ireland, so I expected a much higher percentage.

Well, you might still have origins from Turkey. I am myself from Turkey but my maternal grandma has Greek origins. So your Turkish side might be originally Greek (there was a lot of mixture going on back in the Ottoman Empire).

OH!!! The jews is of Middle Eastern origin if that helps you understand a connection for the term Melungeon when it comes to a connection of a Middle Eastern background. Doesn't matter only Food for thought
