    thanks bro, i have a 13 year old son who started wrestling last year and his lack of experience shows. just like you said he is always reaching, just not as bait. i have subscribed because your style of videos are perfect for learning simple steps and moves. just wanted to say thanks, i think my son will benefit greatly from your videos. he recently decided to join the wrestling club and dive head first into it, so i think these short, simple videos will help. thanks bro

    First of all, great high % tehniques (my Coach swears by the same wrist control methods over neck clinching) and secondly, brilliant coaching. Progressions are superb and easy to follow- Thanks!

    Hand control and my visual helped me beat and control stronger and more explosive guys on the Matt, this is the most important tool to acquire In wrestling in my opinion.

    actually you want your hands down and you also want head position with your Russian other wise you're gonna have a really hard time controlling it and using it.

      From a Russian you must have head position if you don't have it any decent wrestler will score on you. Pop your shoulder then stick stick your head in his ear.

    coach can i ask what are the things to take note when you said you are giving up head position on the russian tie. What is the reason and what are the vulenrabilities to take note?

    • @JasonLayton
      @JasonLayton  Рік тому +1

      Mostly it's because the opponent won't allow it, so it's an easier position to achieve. By giving up head position, your shoulder ends up in better position, allowing you to put pressure on their shoulder.

    • @TalesIncs
      @TalesIncs Рік тому +2

      @@JasonLayton OK! so it also means dont keep trying to fight for it, and just get a good outside position and move on to go for the still available attacks!

    For the third one, how do we get their collar tie off of us? It seems a lot less simple than just grabbing with both wrists and grabbing a Russian. Is there more details?

    • @JasonLayton
      @JasonLayton  7 років тому

      SlickNick no. It's that easy.

    • @nelson1954
      @nelson1954 6 років тому

      What actually breaks the tie seems to be rotating my shoulder into his wrist while simultaneously gripping his wrist. Steve Mocco doesn't believe in exaggerating the shoulder rotation but I find it helps a lot.

  • @edwardoehlers2759

    Why do you post to the head with your lead leg arm?

    • @JasonLayton
      @JasonLayton  8 років тому +1

      It's unlikely for a guy to be able to take a good shot on my lead leg from the distance I do the reaching at. My hand will be directly in their way, like a stiff arm, and even if they get past my hand, my leg is still pretty far away. They will most likely end up in on a bad shot.

      +Edward Oehlers I'm just demonstrating it in rapid succession in this video, in real wrestling it looks a bit different. Sorry about that.
