Reed cams helped me so much, back when they were in business. They helped determine that my gear drive, (not their cam) was off by ten degrees after I dialed it in.
I just bought a whole selection of parts for my truck. Switching it from TBI to Carb. First time tackling a project like this ever, being 16 and all. Anxious to hear how the Xtreme Energy cam will sound in that 318.
@TheMrMarshmallow Too many youngster's like yourself get carried away with how something sounds. My advice is select your use first, ie for the street then, Torque is king along with a modicum of HP. Drag you want a balance between Torque and HP and so on. Look at your wants and needs and then use that as a basis to select parts to use and you should be on the right path.
@mozzmann I have been, and I've landed on a stretched timing chain and probably a new set of plugs. It was a farm truck so it all kinda makes sense. When I have the money to get the block machined i'll take more time to check things over inside.
@mozzmann I get what you say completely , but I didn't get carried away with sound, my friend. My truck as of now has a bad miss every so often and just could really use a good wake up. I good mild cam would really open her up a bit, well I hope. It's just going to be nice to hear the thing run on all 8 like a pro again.
@TheMrMarshmallow I'd be looking for and diagnoising the cause of the missing before I looked at anything else. I have come across Cams that have a lobe ground down by the bottom of a lifter due to a blocked oil hole and the valve wasn't even opening ,
Just saying thanks again . I called ya guys . knew what I wanted. Biggest for sbc with stock converter. . Cost extra . But they got to grinding. Delivered . And awesome came in a box . 👍
@OIFbaqubah We have a few ideas, but we'll need some more info about your Camaro. Your best bet is to to fill out our cam recommendation form at compcams.com
Dear CompCams. I have a stock 350 with the 3890462 Heads. I am interested in a camshaft that works full potential on HP with these heads. If i am correct the valves are 1.94/1.50 2.02/1.60. which cam should i get for these heads is my question? I would like to make this stock motor faster then anyone in my neighborhood. Street rods rock!
Which cam would work best for my 2012 sierra 5.3 4 door daily driver and vacation vehicle. Want more power and definitely want the sound. And if maintenance is required what does that consist of if need be. Just don't want to devalue my truck. What's your advice? Thanks
Hi Travis, thanks so much for your question. It sounds like a cam from our Thumpr line would work well, but your best option is to call our CAM HELP line at 1.800.999.0853 or email camhelp@compcams.com. Our techs will have a few questions and will then be able to help you pick out the best cam for your Sierra. Thanks again!
I have a 5.3 2013 GMC Sierra with K&N intake long tube headers size 1 7/8. Y-pipe no cats. and Borla catbak side dual tips. So, what is the type of cam should I take if I want to use it daily and 100 MPH long trip. What if I want to add a supercharger later? thanks
+ALOOSH M. Hello, your best option is to contact our CAM HELP line at 1.800.999.0853 or email camhelp@compcams.com. Those guys will have a few questions about your engine and overall setup, and will then be able to help you pick out the best cam for your Sierra. Thank you.
@@mozzmann In my opinion some things has changed for the better. Eric Thompson from Crane is doing BBC cams in conjunction with Kip over at Cam Motion. Lunati and Howards have aquired most of the talent that put Comp on the map. Brian Tooley is doing wonderful things for the LS guys, and so is Kip. Isky is still Isky and I get all my lifters there. The Jesels still make kick ass rockers and belt drives. C'mon man, it's not all doom and gloom.

@TheMrMarshmallow Yeah well a stretched chain certainly isn't going to be doing you any favours, good luck with your rebuild Sir.
Will do thanks for the reply

comp cams i recommend all your cams i shall design your new line!
When I worked in a performance workshop, there were only 2 Cams we ever recommended Comp being one of them and another also starting with C
And boy has that changed.
Crane is gone which is a shame, and Comp and their lack of support is a joke.
@@AB-80X Yes it is Sad that the pool of GOOD gear we once enjoy'd is getting smaller and the support AND reliability is getting lower too.
