Thanks, found the kit in a wad of junk in the back of our new to us class A.. had no idea what I was looking at until scrolling past this video. My brain slammed on brakes as i realized I had just seen the trampoline springs 😂
I'm so glad I watched this video!! We have been struggling with our straps because we couldn't seem to get them tight enough (they would always slip loose just a tad) & it was super frustrating. Turns out, we were just feeding it into the clip the wrong way 🤦♀️ thank you for this demo!!
I followed your instruction & success! About the pool noodles, great idea! Need one for the gigantic hitch on the RV. I almost knocked myself out on that thing! I wrapped the tiedowns with x-mas tree garlands of gold shiny wire. The shine alerts you to them.
Great! you'll not be sorry..... they worked out really well..... I actually had a pretty strong storm come through and I lowered the awning and kept those things screwed into the ground and they worked really well. you might be able to find that video... it was last 4th of July then the storms hit the RV and it still held it
Good advice! I had something similar to my awning..here in europe we almost always use bag awnings..mine also had three wall that you mount with zippers.
Ronny Stormo I had bag awnings on my Pop-up campers.. We looked at "add-a-rooms" for this awning but are going to hold off until we are sure we are stick with this RV.. Plus Heidi wouldn't have a place to stay dry while she smoked... Maybe that will get her to break the habit😁
If this thing goes together one way, why couldn’t Camco have the straps installed thru the buckle? My strap was a PAIN to fish thru the buckle because the strap end was all messed up. All installed. Seems solid. I wish they could have made the strap longer tho.
Hi. I have an electric awning (without a wind control). What do you do with the tie downs when you retract the awning? Do you unstrap from the roller or take the end off by the tension Springs?
I would unhook it from the roller. I wouldn't Trust the strap to stay in place as the awning rolled up because there's no tension really to speak of on it and it may get wrapped up in the arms somehow as they were folding back in. It's very easy to unhook from the roller tube. Other than what I would suspect is the height and being able to reach it without a step being an issue oh, it's design makes it really easy to unhook from the roller tube.
Wow Mr. Dreamer! That is a very useful kit! I wish Wander Dano had seen this before his Awning was torn off! He has re-installed it since. Do you follow him? It sure would be cool if you could share this with him. Cheers! Thumbs Up!
We used to carry around old empty windshield washer fluid bottles that we had filled with sand that works great but traveling full time and having everything with us on the road we really don't have room for two 5 gallon buckets even empty ones LOL
I have awning deflapers, they clamp on the fabric and attach to the top rail between the rv and tube. Wife got excited i took rv for a half hr ride on friday, But I keep getting hammered with projects i cant put off :(
I have the deflappers also and use them religiously. They really help when there is a strong breeze or if a storm blows up while you are away and the awning is out. If I suspect a storm may come, I do shorten up my awning to about 50%. Of course, when I know for sure that bad weather is coming, I roll it up. That is the best protection.

Glad to be able to help 😁
I have a set, work great especially near the beaches. I also put some of the pool noodles on the straps after I walked into them a dozen times.
Good Idea, I am sure one of us will trip ourselves up at some point..lol

What do you do if you have gravel instead if grass?
Buy different ground anchors they can be hammered in.
