  • Ever worried about your roll out awning on your camper getting damaged in wind or while sleeping overnight?
    These Thule Hold Down Straps (some call them tie down straps) are the perfect solution and keep your awning safe in windy weather.
    These were £24, however there are other makes available too.
    They can be found here: bit.ly/3jXoPwT
    Make sure you have a set of these in your van if you want to use your awning in all weathers.
    Keep a look out for our other new videos coming to the channel soon and a BIG thank you to all of our wonderful subscribers. We can't believe we have now gone past 500 in just over 3 weeks of the channel going live. We're still in shock! We can't wait to share more content with you.

    Thanks Will, this video has just been an absolute lifesaver. On lovely camp site by the sea in North Devon, with awning up and forecast of wind picking up overnight. Watched video, straps sorted! Love the channel, as it makes life with our California so easy! Best, Andrew and Caroline

      Thank you - I almost didn't make / publish this video because I wondered if it was too simple and too straightforward, but I remembered back when we first got a camper and we didn't know what we didn't know!

      Hi there! Thank you for your kind words, much appreciated! It’s a beautiful site we’ve been going to for almost 15 years now, with a tent to start with and then latterly our Cali. There’s a link to the campsite in the description below the video, it’s called New Hall Farm and is at Edingley, nr Southwell (Notts). Keep watching for more ☺️

      Ooops!! Sarah replied after a glass of wine (hic...) and she didn't realise which video you commented on. This video was taken at Sherwood Pines near Mansfield, it is a forestry commission forest with large open grassy spaces and bike trails etc. They are building a campsite there at the moment too, but this was just one of the normal car parking fields/spaces. 👍

    My concern would be the canvas trying to rip itself of the roller???

    • @CampervanTime
      @CampervanTime  2 роки тому

      Yes you'd need to be a bit careful of that for sure. I think the construction of some of the awnings has changed over the years too as some of the earlier Thule ones had a join in the middle of the canvas that used to wear over (a long) time too.

    What is your California classified as on the logbook?
    Thanks Charles

    • @CampervanTime
      @CampervanTime  2 роки тому

      It is classed as a motor caravan (tax class TC11). Does that help?

    • @charlesdickinson7180
      @charlesdickinson7180 2 роки тому +1

      Yes thanks
      I was told there were changes by DVLA and it was a classed as a van with windows because pop top wasn’t recognised as a motor home
      But you’ve clarified this
      Thanks again

    • @CampervanTime
      @CampervanTime  2 роки тому +1

      I think it depends on which Cali model you are considering. The beach tour (with twin sliding doors) is a different tax class to the beach camper, which is the same as the coast and ocean.
