IMO and as a Kikuyu, I don't think 'Kíríkaníro ní thirí' (A promise is a debt ) applies in our politicking. Guys are just plainly anti Raila. Otherwise, they'd have supported RAO in 2013 for helping Kibaki pass the New Constitution. There's just so many examples of them reneging on their promise when it comes to siasa.
But 2002 was very different. There was no kirikaniro (agreement) then that kikuyus will support raila after kibaki. But for Ruto there was an agreement. Second, Raila had turned to be Kikuyu's main enemy between 2002 and 2013. Third, Raila's support in 2002 was not as important as Ruto's support in 2013. 2002 Raila was a weak candidate and he had no choice other than supporting opposition after Moi chose Uhuru. Raila's votes in the previous election (1997) were very few.
@@mosesgikonyo7929 Granted what you allege is true, the only instance Kikuyus have demonstrated 'Kirikaníro' is the 2017 Uhuru & Ruto agreement. Is that evidence of the voting pattern of a populace that keeps its word? In any case, the turn out in Mt. Kenya wasn't as high as when they've had their own on the seat suggesting a 'betrayal' of some sort on the current President.
On the contrary, there's enough evidence to demonstrate that they will vote with Raila when he is supporting their course (2003 & 2010) and vote quite strongly against him when he's against their 'own'. (2005, 2013, 2017 and to some extent 2022)
I don't agree with the 'Kíríkaníro' part. There isn't enough to demonstrate that.
In the absence of Raila in siasa, we're just as every other Kenyan voter, if not worse.

In 2002, there was an MOU that Kibaki never wanted to be put in writing, and once he was elected and he and his inner circle from mount Kenya region reneged on the MOU, which prompted Raila and Kalonzo to lead a break away from Narc and culminated in the defeat of the Wako draft Constitution in 2006 ,setting the stage for the stolen 2007 presidential election.
Had Raila, Kalonzo, Saitoti, Ntimama, Moody Awori, Nyachae and other heavyweights not quit KANU, it's not clear if Kibaki would have won in 2002.Remember it was Raila who led that mass walkout after Moi unilaterally picked Uhuru ignoring demands from his inner circle to allow for free nominations.
@@ogana_M It is very likely that Kibaki would have defeated Uhuru even without Raila. Remember people were tired with KANU and Moi, which Raila was part of. Second, the MOU between the leaders was not between KIkuyus and anybody, and it was only known between the leaders. Kibaki was the darlin of the Kikuyus and Raila became his main enemy after the 2002 elections. Ruto was loyal to Uhuru and stood with him all thru until Uhuru chose not to be thankful. In 2002, the NAK would definitely win with Kibaki and Wamalwa on the same side before Rainbow came. Also, Ukambani would go with Ngilu, who was in NAK, as Kalonzo was not popular until the walkout and the 2005 referendum. The two larges tribes being on the same side plus Ukambani would be a win against KANU

Second, I repeat that there was no promise by Kikuyu to Raila that they will support him, but there was a public agreement about kumi kumi in 2013. Then, dont judge kikuyus based on when they voted with Raila. Raila was their main enemy since 2003. Even in 2022 there was their own in the ballot, but they chose Ruto, whom they promised. Remember also that low turnout was not only among the Kikuyus, it was in all tribes. Kikuyus were among the few tribes with a higher turnout compared to other tribes. But those who voted represented an enough sample to tell you how those who didnt vote would have voted.

The easiest way for any community to ascend to power is to work with RV & the Luo; they've no natural or eternal hate and they follow ideas.
The Oginga family has always refused to let Luos and Kalenjins unite since 1961. Oginga had the chance to unite with Moi and Masinde Muliro (at that time Luo was number 2 in population followed by Luhya and Kalenjin) but he refused and ran to bootlick Kikuyus who only put him in Manyani prison for years. His stupid son also killed that political alliance with Kalenjins that gave him power in 2008. In 2022 he forced an alliance with Kikuyus where he got his buttocks burnt as usual. Luos will taste power when they focus on working with other nilotes then they can add friendly bantu communities like Luhya, Kisiis, Kambas and the coastal bantus.

@@jjkinuthia - I have called out Khwatenge over his tribal bias and outbursts several times. He likes to attack the Kikuyus through his disorganized monologues. If he is going to talk about others, he should present a fair assessment of what he is trying to say.
Most of whatever he talks about is just basic street information, and not worth to be categorized as intelligence work. He also likes to praise corruption Radden folks like Ruto and those in Ruto’s circle of embezzlement of Kenya’s coffers. I tend to think Khwatenge is looking for a job in Ruto’s corrupt administration in his old age.
I think James has lost the focus of what he initially intended to tell the Kenyan people about the past history. I also have told him to lay off attacks on the late President Mzee Jomo Kenyatta, while praising Museveni, and a few other elements with questionable character.
I felt he needed to give Jomo some credit for his 15 years of leadership upon Kenya attaining its independence.
James has a childish Luhya angle to himself. Maybe some childhood insecurities which he has harbered within him since birth.
Initially I had given him some credit for venturing into Kenya’s untold history but he sooner started veering off the key topics into some crazy nonsense.

Ruto will not win in 2027. The only way he can retain the presidency is stealing the votes like he did in 2022. He probably has been busy printing and stuffing the votes into boxes as we speak! Just look under Rachel’s bed and you will find where the 2027 votes are Hidden!
