This week we take you back to North Wales, this time to the lake side town of Llanberis where we visit the National Slate Museum at the foot of the mighty Dinorwic Quarry, once home to the maintenance and production workshops for the Quarry it now offers a fascinating insight into the past to discover how the industry shaped the area from the mid 19th century.
We then take you for a ride down some of the original Quarry railway which took
the finished slate down to the nearby port.
The journey takes you past the 13th century Dolbadarn Castle, across possibly Britain's shortest river and past Llanberis' twin lakes. From Llanberis the train runs non-stop through the Padarn Country Park, joining the 1845 slate railway route to run along the shores of Lake Padarn to Penllyn, and giving stunning views of Snowdon, the highest peak in England and Wales.

Another pleasant video this day. I really look forward to them every week. My physical condition makes it impossible to accomplish on my own. Appreciate them! See you Em, and Stu on the next! Cheers Em and Stu! ❤❤😊😊
Thanks Martin, glad you enjoy watching our little adventures, plenty more where they came from lol 😊👍
Huge memory recall for me. I visited when I was a teen, staying at the end of the line with the loop back in the late 70's. Actually saw the line from a canoe on the lake 😂 It looks great and I need to find an excuse to visit again. Thanks for the reminder!
It's a great area to visit with so much history to see as well as the beautiful scenery. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment 👍
This was so good loved every minute the train ride could not take in how beautiful it was thanks Em and Stu.
It really is stunning! It almost doesn't look real lol. Can't wait to get back there again 😀
@@ExploringWithEmAndStu To be honest did not want it to end Stu i will look forward to it thanks stu all the best mate.
Excellent video very interesting I went there about 10 years ago. Love it there ❤
It really turned out to be such a good day, definitely underestimated how much there was to see, a return visit is certainly needed! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment 👍 😊
Lovely area around there, it still looks the same as it did when we visited about 20years ago
Wales is so beautiful, we can't wait to return. Hope you're keeping well, it's nice to hear from you 😊👍
Beautiful
Thanks you.. Wales is such a beautiful country 😍
You do find some superb places. That waterwheel was massive!
It's a great place to visit and gives you a real insight into the industry even if you didn't think you would be that interested, it certainly opened our eyes up. Thanks for watching, hope your keeping well 😊👍
I've been here once but didn't get a chance to have a good look around, so thank you for sharing this video. It's not too far from us, so we might return here soon. Great video 😊❤.
Definitely worth a day out, so much to see and even more if you take a walk off the beaten track.. we're hoping to return ourselves in the near future as we barely scratched the surface.. Thanks for watching 👍
Great vid , what a lovely place ,
Thanks for watching, it's such a beautiful and interesting place to visit, we'll definitely be back! 😊👍
Another great video, looks like you all enjoyed yourselves 😊
Thanks, definitely highly recommend a visit! We really enjoyed it 😊👍
What great scenery. It looks like Finley had a great time. Please correct me if I spelt his name wrong as it niggles me when someone spells my daughters name wrong. Thank you all for a wonderful video.
Thanks for watching! Really glad you enjoyed it, we had a lovely day out. Yes his name is spelt Finley but he often gets it spelt with 'ay' at the end.. His Dad was Scottish so he wanted a strong Scottish name and Finley is what he got lol. Thanks again for watching and taking the time to comment, it's very much appreciated 😊 👍
Hi - we are looking at going here in the holidays - what would you say the space in the carriages was like? I'm very tall but have mobility issues so often need to "stretch out". Loved the video - thanks for sharing!
I would say they are quite spacious and you should have room to stretch out, Stu is 6'3 and had plenty of room. You should get a compartment to yourselves but be aware from my memory the journey was a little bumpy especially on the wooden seats but your not really in them for long periods of time..
We had a lovely afternoon with beautiful views and plenty of history to find around the area.. Definitely worth the money. We're actually back in the area again in 2 weeks for more exploring and can't wait! 😊
@@ExploringWithEmAndStu Thank you very much for the reply - it's something I think we will be able to do as a family (4 adults 2 kids)
