This week we head back down to the town of Dover In Kent in search of more lost history from the Napoleonic Fortifications of The Western Heights.
Mostly constructed between the early to mid 19th century the Western Heights was at the time the largest and most elaborate Fortification in Great Britain consisting of several separate forts and bastions linked together by miles of deep fortified ditches.
Today we take you in search of the hidden tunnels which lead from the main forts down into the deep ditches via defended drawer bridges and gates, often known as Sally Ports.
    Hope you enjoy 😀

There's so much hidden away in Dover! I didn't realise there were so many of these entrances, well done for braving the weather

I believe there was a few more if these dotted around the Heights although we're only aware of 3 now that remain, would love to go searching for more in the future. Dover is an incredible place for history. Thanks for watching 👍😊

Absolutely fascinating to look around the interior. This isn't somewhere I would ever go, so great to come along with you.

We love exploring places like this especially as we weren't exactly sure where they were so had to go hunting which turned out to be more than eventful! 😆

Great video really enjoyed your explore. Amazing the doors and gate are still intact. Given the lack of graffiti I guess it's a tricky place to get too, certainly seemed like it from the video.

Thanks Richard, it's was certainly tricky that day with all the rain turning the whole of Dover into a mud slide! 😄 It's one of those places that you'll probably only find if you know where to look and then it's not always that easy to get to.. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment 👍

I think the tag PIKE is a reference to Pike on dad's army. 🤔

Lol I don't have a clue but we found it in almost every abandoned place we visited that weekend around Dover, it appears to have been there for a good few years.. 🤔
