While the premier set draft videos clearly don't get the viewership numbers of Cube, I for one really enjoy them as a change of pace. Please keep them coming!
47:06 I love the way LSV throws out these little stingers. If you put me in front of a camera against an opponent that tanked 30 seconds every time they had priority, I would probably say some toxic stuff. Instead we get an absolute gem and then return to normal commentary
The thing with MTGO is sometimes people have bad internet. I'm not saying that's definitely the case here, but it's worth remembering that not everyone lives in the US and has a fast connection.
I know the odds of getting one are low, but i drafted a deck with a Terror of the Peaks and 2 Visage Bandits. Its a ridiculous combo. This set feels like a masters set a bit in terms of draft to me, and its been really really fun. Love watching the drafts!
I just finished a draft where I got to cast Great Train Heist on a board with Calamity. Opponent scooped before I got to make the 3rd and 4th copies and attack with the original rider. 😂
I managed to pick up 2 terrors recently, in a green/red deck with lots of plot cards. Going Turn 5 terror into playing a plotted 5/5 and another plotted 5/5 is absolutely insane.
Much, much, much prefer seeing early drafts for a set on MODO as I haven't learned all the cards by heart yet, and being able to see the card text while they are in your hand or in play makes understanding what is going on so much easier!
1:01:00 could someone explain the rulings about the shapeshifter copying the enchant (that is a 3/3), not becoming a 3/3 and then turning a 3/3 at the end of turn please? I googled it, no answer. Thank you
When you become a copy, you only gain the copiable characteristics of the permanent you're copying. Typically, this means you become the card "as printed". For example, say you gave a Llanowar Elves haste from some spell, and then copied it, the copy wouldn't have haste. This is because haste is not one of the copiable characteristics of the card; its copiable characteristics would be its color, mana value, card type, abilities, things like that printed on the card. So in the case of Emergent Haunting, it is an enchantment with two abilities, so the clone enters as a copy of Emergent Haunting (a blue enchantment with its two abilities and no P/T since it is an enchantment), and then gains power/toughness from its own ability (since cards were cast from exile via plot, none were cast from hand thus its activation condition was fulfilled)
47:19 if you're planning to slick sequence the holy cow anyways, is there an argument for casting slick sequence with the highway robbery on the stack to draw your card first and have more info about what to discard? Or is it better to just have all your mana available when you draw your cards?
I drafted a deck the other day with two visage bandits, two Three steps ahead and a Terror of the Peaks. You can do some really fun and disgusting things in this limited environment!
MTGO is definitely the preferred way to watch videos. The screen is much cleaner and getting to see best of 3 games is preferable. The animations that cannot be disabled as well as the messy backgrounds makes Arena frustrating experiment to watch and play for me.
I'm not a big fan of how hit-or-miss the format is. Too many bonus sheets. Some of the cards on there are terrible in limited, and some are insane. Otherwise, the main set is fine. If I could just draft the main set without the bonus sheets, this format would be much better imo.
love to see an OTJ draft but i'm in the camp that finds MTGO videos borderline unwatchable*. avoiding unranked Bo3 is the only real advantage because compared to arena, the viewer experience is garbage and the level of competition for Bo1 is roughly the same. just my 2 cents (though i know many, including several in the comments here) agree. * when the format is available on arena, so vintage cube gets a pass.
I like how LSV says he plays MTGO for the higher competition level and then we watch just some terrible plays from the opponents and struggles using the client
I would love to see drafts that are really difficult - rather than drafts like this where LSV just gets the nuts draft. I hope you're uploading bad drafts too! :)
I get why but it's so painful trying to watch games on mtgo. I end up just watching the drafts and skipipng the games. It's just random clicking and no way to tell what's actually happening.
Agreed. I've commented similarly before. I love the drafts but actual game part is still painful. Even after trying I can watch maybe max game or two but MTGO is just too crappy for watching without having used program yourself. Too bad I guess. :/
Funny, I refuse to watch Arena because I find it to be a terrible viewing experience, whereas mtgo is just paper magic + automatically keeping track of the stack, and various other things.
@@brandonbagley795hard agree. I like arena in a livestream format where they have the plug-ins that let you hover cards to read them but on UA-cam it's unwatchable if you don't already know the cards. With mtgo you can at least read the cards so you're not completely lost in a new set.
Wow - to each their own! Just want to add my voice here that I much prefer mtgo. Arena is very annoying for me if I don't already know every single card
I understand why, but drafting new sets on MTGO is not content I like to watch because it’s very hard to know what the cards do (I don’t follow new sets that much). Arena does a better job showing things and being easier to read/parse.
Thats wild to me. Arena doesnt even show the cards text all the time, which means if you are watching a video and you dont know what a card is or does you have to look it up. MTGO is just paper magic.
@@fuxorfly MTGO is paper magic but you can't pick up the card to read it. Arena at least shows an enlarged picture on every cast that you can clearly read even on mobile. I prefer to watch LSV play on MTGO cause it's bo3 and (from what I've heard) tougher competition but it's a bit disingenuous to act like Arena doesn't have its advantages when it comes to viewing experience.
@@PlushNightingale I dont think its disingenous at all. Not having the cards text be visible at all times is a huge downgrade in viewer experience in my opinion, and I'm honestly shocked that anyone thinks that the arena viewing experience is better. If its a question of being better for viewing on mobile, then i dont really have anything to say about that because i dont watch on mobile.
@@fuxorfly whenever a player hovers over a card or plays it, you get a big zoom on the card. You can pause to read it. But also during gameplay it does an excellent job to convey what the card is doing (giving you a pop up with text for a trigger for example). It’s way easier to read if you don’t know the cards. And yeah, paper Magic new set drafting is also a hard watch when you don’t know the cards…
Call me a pedant, but "visage" doesn't rhyme with "mirage". It's pronounced "vizij". I don't think I've seen any mtg content creator pronounce this word correctly.

this format is great - so many players making so many different kinds of decks, awesome to see this much depth and variety
Love to see a standard format draft on MTGO! Thanks for the quality content.

Terror of the peaks and calamity would also be amazing
One of my Prerelease sealed had a Terror of the Peaks, Oko the ringleader, and a visage bandit. Fun deck.

Great draft, thanks for the OTJ, definitely interested in seeing more if you're liking the format.

Seems like a mire interesting draft format than the last few. Wouldn't mind seeing more!
Thank you SO much for the MTGO content!
The pace of the second opponent is the main drawback of playing on MTGO, but great content as always
@@wardbaker but the rope actually saves you from the really long pauses.

Really like that you are putting other formats in LSV. I like your cube, but getting some masterclasses in other formats never goes astray.
love to see you draft on MTGO! i find it way clearer and easier to follow than arena
Wow. As an arena player I’m so impressed by the level of play from the first two opponents XDD

Love the best of three :)
at 07:05 there is 2x Jailbreak Scheme (foil and non-foil) and 2x Highway Robbery. That shouldn't be possible...
Thank you so much for drafting on Magic Online.
Thanks for drafting on MTGO. As bad as the interface is, it's far better than the slanty 'tabletop' skewview of arena.
Nice, I know what I'm gonna be watching before bed tonight.

Fun one. Enjoyed the Bo3.
Wait isn't this Odyssey/Torment/Judgment-draft???Thats what OTJ means to old fart like me😂😂
I hear you, whenever I see someone order an IPA I get excited for an invasion planechase apocalypse draft
I like MTGO. Thanks!
When are we going to see those vintage cube updates on cobra?? 😉
Nimble Brigand is gonna teach some youngins’ how good Thieving Magpie was. If you can’t block, it’s just a personal
Howling Mine
Giving them a treasure counts as a crime 😂
Wait until standard realises that plunderer ability counts as a crime every turn…. 😊

11 of the 50 top rares are green ??
Are you saying 1/5 of the rares belong to 1 of the 5 colors ??? WHAT ?
Hee-luh! Lol
I honestly like MODO content but. Are we *sure* it's better competition at this point?
Yes, especially for best of 3.
Haha, normally it’s better competition. Some of his opponents this draft were unusually uncompetitive.
I'll like the vid, but I can't watch. I'll be back if you do an arena draft.
