years of training. he said he got his ass kicked in his first marathon and then spent like a year training everyday and now he can do iron man triathlons, marathons regularly etc.
+ChadWithaJ I don't even have stairs to the fridge... do you have any idea how many times my fiance has yelled at me because I let the microwave beep for five minutes too? I use to be in shape, that's all that matters.
The fact that this was shot on a phone blew me away. The whole time I kept thinking, "how the hell is he running with his DSLR?!" It just goes to show how good cameras have gotten, and how great editing makes everything better. GREAT JOB CASEY! Proud of you man. I used to do cross country running as a kid. Now I'm horribly overweight, but seeing you run is slowly lighting a fire in me to train. I'd love to run a marathon before I die.
I think it's a bit more complicated than most people would like to think. Yes it's "mind over matter," but what they forget to note is that it's your mind that's the matter. It's willpower versus the chemical processes of your brain. Smoking's a perfect analogy.
+MsLindsVlog Try run as long as you comfortable with, even if its half a mile or even less. Try do that like 5 days a week. Start with easier pace since it's going to be less intimidating. I used to run only 5 minutes a day and now I am doing 10k (6.2 mi) almost everyday. Run is fun and it makes you feel (and look) good!
Saulim Lam There's not much you can do to change it. It's just the phone's hardware. That being said, it's not bad. It's still really good. You're also rocking the 6+, which really counts in your favour. iPhones have great camera quality in general and the 6+ comes with the added benefit of OIS (which will be useful shortly) But if you're into filmmaking or know cameras or have just watched a lot of stuff, you can tell it's a phone and not a DSLR, it's just something about the way the footage looks which is a product of the differences between lenses and sensors and just the sheer size between phones and cameras and the differences between their primary uses... If you want to get the best out of your footage though I'd try to get it as stabilized as possible. Your OIS (Optical Image Stabilisation) helps you out here. But find if maybe there are one or two other ways both while you're filming or in post to get it smoother. Then (if you're not time bound, like in a daily vlog), once you're done with your edit add a touch of colour-grading. It immediately makes the film look of a much higher quality. I'd really love to see more of Honolulu, especially from the streets and surroundings on a down on the ground level, city photographs never seem to provide, so once you've uploaded your flick, be sure to send me a link :)
Definitely going to copy the underpants thing on the start of my next race! Will confuse the sh*t out of folks here in the UK :) Nice job on the run, so hard not to push hard early on!
ok so I'm watching this vid in quarantine and everything about it seems wrong. everyone is SO close together haha idk why it makes me feel uncomfortable
I think this was my favorite vlog. I feel like i will not have an experience of hearing someones thoughts almost every mile of a run that i think is incredible. Thank you Casey.
Awesome. That brought back so many good (and bad memories) for me. My first ever marathon was NYC in 2006, flew over from the UK on the Friday, spent Saturday sight seeing and by race day I was shattered! Broke my foot at halfway (didnt know that at the time!) and finally finished in 5hrs 45 as the foot made me go slower and slower and sllooooowwwer. Wouldn't change anything about that experience for anything, not sure I would do it again mind you!! :)
You inspire me Casey. Finding out yesterday that you were gunna do a 26 mile run then just doing it in such a upbeat way. You make me want to do spontaneous things like that. Huge respect man, love the videos
This is officially what I miss most about quarantine, and I don't even run much. I live in California and have never been to NYC too. It's just the idea of a bunch of people sticking something through that's both fun and hard, all in really close quarters, together.
I cannot believe that two weeks I will be flying to NYC from the UK to run the marathon. We ran our first in London back in April... I swear, if we hadn’t found Casey in UA-cam we wouldn’t have pushed ourselves outside of our comfort zone to do this! 🗽🙏
That slow-mo of all the cups being kicked around and stomped on under his feet are one the most recognizable and memorable images you have on race day.
I have watched over and over Neve saying at 4:14 "Whew, I feel Good!" as he's about to start a marathon. My daughter is running in City Finals for cross country today
Just signed up for my first half-marathon, taking place on May 11, 2019. I'm as ready as I've ever been. Lost 23 pounds in the last 8 months and worked my legs up to marathon level. I'm so excited 😊
LOVED THIS VANTAGE POINT! Having run many races, however only 1 marathon when I had turned 40 I truly loved all of this, ahhh the Portopotties...thank you for sharing much better than watching it on TV.
What a true adventure. I fell empathy and sympathy for this Casey for I have been to those levels, very much not the same adventure but I can get where you are coming from. Good stuff.
+Thunder Chicken Thighs Hey, TCT! Question for you. Since you're knowledgeable about all things Casey (or can make something up if you don't know), how do you think he carried the camera when he wasn't using it? I'd had to think he carried it in his hand the whole time (would make for a very difficult running experience). Maybe strapped it on his back? Any thoughts?
+nrgins Oh wait, just saw the last bit of the video. He used his cell phone. Guess he put it in his pocket when he wasn't using it. Duh. (Thought he was using a regular camera and a selfie stick, since the quality was so good. LOL)
It makes me extremely happy that random strangers are hyping casey up. He gets recognized more often now when going out. His vlogs are getting popular every day!
Watching in 2021 having just today received confirmation that I will be running the London Marathon in 9 weeks! ...a little late in the day but BRING IT! After the past 15 months it will be great to do something positive whilst raising money for a great charity :)
This was the best vlog ever. I felt like I ran along with someone for a full marathon but actually I was sitting on my ass and it only took a few minutes. It was phenomenal.
Casey's starts training for a Marathon like a month ago? I start running 1 year ago and can still barely run up the stairs without getting out of breath?
Its so cool to see what its like before a marathon. I never actually knew the process of bringing all those runners to the start. Thanks for that Casey!
I’m about 5 years too late, but the salt is to replenish all of the sodium lost through sweat (without enough, fatigue can set in/cramps are more common). This is why Gatorade has salt
Awesome video! Thanks for sharing. I've run 5 marathons (LA x 2, Guadalajara, Miami, and Chicago). NY is on my list. Will apply for the 1st time next year.
Not everybody gets to be in the VIP tent where it’s warm and cozy I had a chance wants to get in the VIP tent I knew someone who knew someone and I got into the marathon for free and was going to get into the VIP tent but the friendship did not last so I did not get into the VIP tent I still had a great race in 2009 it was a 40th anniversary of the marathon and I had my best time in about 8 yrs bc I have been downsides out of a job so all I did all summer long is training plus weight training & swimming. It was great🗽🥰
Those are usually used to protect your clothes or not get contaminated with something, but in this case i guess they're used to kept the people a little warmer
I see people who meet Casey in these blogs and they are so chill. Like that guy who saw him on the way to the marathon, if I saw him I would be like asking for a selfie and probably showing it off to my friends.
I don't think us viewers quite understand what this man just did. He not only ran a marathon. He also vlogged himself running the damn marathon.
I once ran a marathon with my cellphone in my hand to make pictures along the way. It wasn't that distracting really.
anyone can run a marathon
Well he vlogged 8 minutes lol. He ran for hours.
ChrisG- no, unless you are a trained runner, or your fitness and especially stamina is great, you cannot run a marathon.
ChrisG- boi
How did Casey just make a marathon look like a jog in the park wth
+JANA VLOGS ikr! i think running relies lots on mental strength and Casey is mentally strong!
The power of editing.
+JR Alli it requires lots of practice too man.. and casey i think has been doing marathons and long runs since he was young so..

+BySixa He can do iron man triathlons???
Watching this made marathon running not look so bad. 8 minutes....
