Steel Panther definitely should do a a full album of VH covers. Make a great tribute to their origins, and to Eddie
I was thinking that as well.
Yup,most definitely
I would say they've already started. These videos don't exactly synch up or feel truly live.
@@kitoyobeni1
The majority of the so-called "live" quarantine band vids are pre-recorded. It's wouldn't sound this perfect live. Also, it's pretty hard to play live over a video stream - the timing would be off.
@@dmitryowens Agreed
This cover is 100% better than anything that was on the recent Grammys show.
Agreed!!!
@Nouse Foraname You don't have to be a dick towards people you know.
Absolutely
So true......sad.
Only 100% better?
love these guys can't wait to see them live again
I’m gonna buy the biggest thong made and throw it on the stage. I’m thinking something big enough to fit on the back of a Volkswagen.
Now that you have to get the suicide jab to get tickets, it'll be the last show you ever see...
These guys put on an amazing and fun show! Looking forward to seeing them again!
They’re coming to atl soon !!!!
I've seen them 3 times.. Had a blast every time 🤘 🍻 🎶
Not one but two videos on the same day and it's Van Halen songs. This is awesome.
What's the other video? Because these dudes rock
how does Michael manage to sound exactly like every single vocalist possible
It would be interesting to hear his Udo Dirkschneider impersonation!
He was the vocalist of the atomic punks a VH cover band. They used to call him David Lee Ralph.
@@spiderfan1974 It's true. Back when he was lecturing at University of Arizona.
@@spiderfan1974 that's awesome 😂🤘🏻🤘🏻
ralph saenz (mike starr) & russ parrish (satchel) were in a =v/-/= cover band called atomic punks, so this was 2nd nature for them. diamond dave was a fan & mentioned said band in his autobiography "crazy from the heat".
The best cover of a VH song I have ever heard! This... this right here is lit as fuck!
These guys absolutely nail it!I would pay money to watch these fuckers!
This is great! Check out Jakub Deraps too. He totally nails the guitar of EVH. But this has way better vocals!
They Nail a lot of songs....
@@michaelwerbick and chicks. Lol
Google "russ parrish ralph saenz atomic punks"
I love that Lexi's pick guard is a mirror.
Speaking of mirrors, if he puts on any more covid weight he's going to need a bigger one next time he goes on stage lololol
I love how he doesn’t even play 😂just poses
Yeah you use a mirror to catch the Light and shine it in a girl's eye
Of course Lexi has a mirror. He’s so perfect that the best thing to see on his guitar is his face.
This guitar riff is one of the coolest riffs ever...
Satchel killed it! It was awesome.
The same can be said for quite a few other VH riffs, such as Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love, Mean Street, Unchained, Atomic Punk, On Fire, Romeo Delight, Little Dreamer, Hear About It Later, etc. Eddie Van Halen was known as one of the greatest rock guitarists ever and rightfully so, but he was also a riff master.
@@dmitryowens Sinner's Swing and Dirty Movies are fuckin' killer too.
@@LtJoker1
Definitely.
Those DLR screams are the hardest to pull off. Dude doesnt get enough credit. You got it
And all of them - every single one, were improvised. That's what I love infinitely about DLR. He had stylized vocal that you can bet -Micheal has heard and practiced thousand's of times. He gets every teeny inflection spot on. I'd like to hear secrets - because it's such a different vibe - but still DLR and Little Dreamer - OMFG just beautiful - no embellishments, just Dave. Thing about DLR - as opposed to ahem - others - is hr isn't singing a song - he's singing a story. Usually a dark dangerous one. I don't think David Lee Roth has ever made one regret. The balls it takes to walk away from arguably the biggest rock band in the world.
Ted Templeman, VH producer, said he's pretty confident Dave would have returned to the fold.11 years together starting in their teens - touring non stop. And drugs - lots of drugs. He slipped away and did a probable one off 4 song EP, stuff he wanted to do that was far outside the VH coda.
It was a frighteningly successful project - and "The Brothers" were absolutely livid. Unyeilding and mad
Why! This isn't an unusual scenario. Stevie Nicks successfully created an entire solo career that still performs - but she always was adamant that she was still very much a part of Fleetwood Mac.
Now I think she's a vengeful bitch for orchestrating Lindsey Buckingham firing after 40 years in a band HE was recruited for - and his responce was his girlfriend was part of a package deal. Anyway. Rambling. Y'all give me a break! You know the rest.
☮️
These guys are great. Don't let the fun loving rock "mock" fool you...these guys are seriously good players.
A lot of people forget that Micheal was in the best Van Halen cover band of all time, the Atomic Punks
A bass player i worked w/in LA is in a wicked VH coverband called "fan halen", guys name is Georgre Dubois...he also instructs bass at Musicians Institute. He's a very talented fella.
@@jamesian-allen8725 I’ll have to check em out, thanks man🤘
Satchel was too, wasn't he?
@@brownwrench yea
Oh man, I saw Atomic Punks play at Chillers Bar in Mission Beach back when VH wasn’t really playing any Toth material. What an awesome show!
Nothing screams METAL more than Michael's washing machine...
Steel washer!!
he is a man of many talents, doing VH covers while washing his bed sheets.
He just needs to clean that dirty ass floor up in front of it? LMAO
@@jasonalcorn2637 😁
it is bad ass
Just when you thought Steel Panther couldn't be more awesome...two amazing VH covers in one day.
When they're doing VH covers is the only time they're awesome.
@@dmitryowens I couldn't disagree more - they're amazingly awesome at all times.
@@static2099
I'm not into goofy parody bands, and 80's glam metal sucked hard. Early Van Halen ruled though.
@@dmitryowens 80's glam had plenty of awesome. You're just close minded.
@@ZiddersRooFurry
Glam is weak af. Those bands were an embarrassment to the genre of metal, prancing around in pink spandex and half-shirts with more makeup than a porn star. And most of the singers were terrible with high whiny nasal voices.
Definitely one of the best and perhaps overlooked VH songs.
I know it would be like the washed up glam rock meme but Steel Panter should absolutely make an album of Van Halen covers, or even do a tribute concert
They started out as a Vegas Van Halen tribute band, the atomic punks. EDIT: I'm half wrong. Thanks to @webgazda for clearing it up.
wasnt aware
X2 on the VH cover album!!! Good Stuff!!
@@Panhead49EL no they didnt. Steel panther started out as metal shop in 2000.
Ralph and Russ were in the Atomic Punks 1994-2008, Travis and Darren were never in atomic punks :)
@@webgazda And Michael Anthony guested on bass at one Atomic Punks show.
SP never disappoints and now I have to rearrange my laundry room to rock status.
The laundry room in the background is a killer touch.😂
Sounds great guys.👍
His kids' stuff too and also I spotted some stage outfits.
I just turned 51, so I am a kid of the 80s. Thank you to these guys for giving us what we want..... which is 80s music, 80s hair, 80s outfits..... I will find a way to see these guys live when they are somewhere near me...... if not, maybe a trip south to socal.
Same here bro😅🤘. Over 50 yrs. This is awesome.
I second the "Mean Street" request. Best VH song.
Motley Crew hated them on tour because they can play and troll and still blow the doors off almost every band.
Perhaps they hated them because these guys can play AND sing?
@@mottahead6464 Exactly! I always heard rumors going back to the 80's. From people who went to see Motley Crue in concert. They ALL told me that they sucked live. I really didn't want to believe them. Because I was such a huge Motley Crue fan. Then... I went to their concert myself. Holy molly! They suck straight ass live! And now, I couldn't care less about the Crue!
@@shane8915 I only saw Girls Girls girls and they were pretty tight .That show i got(took) VIP seating too , 3 or 4 feet behind the nasty habits .
@@engineerinhickorystripehat I think, (If my memory serves me correct) I went to the Carnival of Sins tour. And It was horrible. If they sounded good on the Girls Girls Girls tour, I'd be highly suspect of tape playback being the reason. I have friends who went to the Girls, Girls, Girls tour. And said they sounded horrible. So, maybe it wasn't tape playback. And they just had a good night when you saw them. Who knows?
@@shane8915 or i coulda just been awestruck at the spectacle , it WUZZ 1987 after all.
I did not know if everyone noticed but the 80’s is coming back and Steel Panther is leading the way.
You're right man!!! The new guitars look? '80, new single of John Mayer? Eighties. New fashion trend? Eighties. I fucking love it!
Michael sounds more like David Lee Roth than David Lee Roth does.
Dave was and is the original, the one and only! Ralp (Michael) for sure sounds awesome and does Dave's 'things' as a pro, i agree!
DLR hasn’t been able to sound like the record since ... well ... the recording of the record. He’s always been more of a showman than a voice.
That is exactly what I was saying!!!
Yeah he does
@@phinsxiii He sounded good live until he left the band the first time tbh, he was ok live during the 1984 tour. Whatever he became when Sammy Hagar was in the band just wasn't the same person, he lost his voice his hair, his showmanship, his sense of humor. He was absolutely awful when he rejoined after Hagar.
I love that your guys' jam rooms are the garage, a spare bedroom, and the laundry room. Real people.
You guys are the epítome of how metal should sound like... And your Van Halen covers... Speechless. Best tribute ever
WHAT a fuckin day! Two Van Halen covers from Steel fuckin Panther at the same time. We also joined this Van Halen cover party last week :)
And that, my friends, is how it's done. Period! Steel Panther Rules.
Awesome Dave imitation even the harmonic scream … satchels tone and touch. Dead on !
Gotta say that was damn good. Never heard anyone do the Dave screams so spot on. Guitar, everything was on point!!
Ralph and Russ were in a popular Van Halen tribute band (Atomic Punks) for years before Steel Panther existed, and also an 80's hard rock/cover band called Metal School.
Dude Michael simply doesn't age, keeps his voice like the first day, and manages to make the laundry room look damn rocking. Perhaps that part took it from Rush, when Geedy Lee would put some washing machines on the stage lol lol
Most underrated band in the world! The talent is off the charts not to mention the showmanship. Total entertainment package. Keep jammin guys!!!!
I was expecting them to drop the ball on the vocals, nobody I've ever heard can do it, but holy God he nailed it! Not an easy task to sing this one.
What a band
Now that’s how you pay tribute to the greatest guitarists that ever walked the planet. I can’t believe the Grammys shit on his legacy like that, fuck ‘em!
Amen Brother!
True brother !
AHHHHHHHHHHH, I needed that!
I came to hate, but I am sold. You all just out did VH on this. This takes me back to my teen years cranking VH2 in my truck....windows down driving to the beach. Simply awesome!! Brilliant cover.
Love that song...
When I listen to Van Halen II, so do my neighbors! Great cover boys!
Damn!! Michael's got that DLR rasp sounding wicked! Awesome cover boys! Pretty sure Ed's looking down, smiling and saying "These damn punks can play."
you were just born out of a era of metal by 10 years or so such a talented bunch Headliners all the way
Got my Friday off to a great start
Sounds exactly like VH. One of the best riffs ever. Strong men have died, listening to this riff.
Request: Take Your Whiskey Home!
You knocked this one outa the park - THANKS STEAL PANTHER!!!
Every now and then I just have to come back here and listen to this again. This is so....fucking....good.
This was the first Van Halen song I learned to play. Well done!!!

AMAZING!!
Need to come to Evansville, Indiana please please please 🙏 😫
Do "i ll wait" and "dance the night away"! ..Pleeeease🙂
BADASS Van Halen covers as ALWAYS guys! I LOVE how Michael does DLR's classic screams perfect! I wish Dave could have sounded this good in his later years.
Cheers!! from Greece
This is f’n amazing! They absolutely nailed it!

Such an underrated band.

You all do realize that Steel Panther started out as a Van Halen cover group.
DLR can't do screams like that anymore and Sammy never could.
He could scream but not like David Lee Roth. Because Sammy can actually sing
@@shredacuda True. But Michael Starr can ALSO sing. He makes it look easy but believe me its NOT especially if you're trying to cover another band note for note.
Ralph is a great singer. The whole band is great
@@shredacuda so could Dave. They had different styles. Sammy has a real unique voice. Anyone that covers him sing at a really high pitch to mimic him...
Sammy is a singer first, frontman second. Dave was a frontman first, singer probably third or fourth
I was smiling the entire time watching this. Thank you Steel Panther for channeling VH so well. Edward would've liked this I think.
one of my favorite VH songs thank you for covering it..............properly
Damn Satchel nailed that solo like a split hog
David Lee Ralph never left...
Well done as usual ..

@@HutcheyBoi You do realize I am talking about former singer and frontman of the Premier Van Halen tribute band " The Atomic Punks." Who by the way is singer this song in the video...
David Lee Ralph ...

These guys are just F*****G awesome

What a great band!!!!!
One of my fav EVH riffs. I play VH 1 and 2 almost every day on guitar just for fun.
Ralph just tears the asshole out of the Halen Songs. The whole band does too... mad respect but shit.. Ralph just fucking kills it. Best metal singer out there hands down.

Ha these guys should invite DLR to concert and give him a singing lesson.
the vocals are insane
Spot on!
Haven't seen another great live act with a washing machine since Rush
Why does Michael look like he's about go to a well in the basement and tell some Steel Panther groupie to put the lotion on or it gets the hose again?

LOVE Steel Panther!
Just sounds like Van Halen, dudes. Maybe a little better. You guys should just go ahead and cover the entire Diver Down album. (I think that's my favorite Van Dave album.)
VH1, 2 for sure.... but i love all if i'm honest. also the Hagar era
You know you’ve made it when your singing in your mom’s laundry room....
It’s great to see that Ralph has kept his vox in great shape after all of these years. Excellent tune!
His Roth vocals are unmatchable. So good.
