ralph saenz (mike starr) & russ parrish (satchel) were in a =v/-/= cover band called atomic punks, so this was 2nd nature for them. diamond dave was a fan & mentioned said band in his autobiography "crazy from the heat".
And all of them - every single one, were improvised. That's what I love infinitely about DLR. He had stylized vocal that you can bet -Micheal has heard and practiced thousand's of times. He gets every teeny inflection spot on. I'd like to hear secrets - because it's such a different vibe - but still DLR and Little Dreamer - OMFG just beautiful - no embellishments, just Dave. Thing about DLR - as opposed to ahem - others - is hr isn't singing a song - he's singing a story. Usually a dark dangerous one. I don't think David Lee Roth has ever made one regret. The balls it takes to walk away from arguably the biggest rock band in the world. Ted Templeman, VH producer, said he's pretty confident Dave would have returned to the fold.11 years together starting in their teens - touring non stop. And drugs - lots of drugs. He slipped away and did a probable one off 4 song EP, stuff he wanted to do that was far outside the VH coda. It was a frighteningly successful project - and "The Brothers" were absolutely livid. Unyeilding and mad Why! This isn't an unusual scenario. Stevie Nicks successfully created an entire solo career that still performs - but she always was adamant that she was still very much a part of Fleetwood Mac. Now I think she's a vengeful bitch for orchestrating Lindsey Buckingham firing after 40 years in a band HE was recruited for - and his responce was his girlfriend was part of a package deal. Anyway. Rambling. Y'all give me a break! You know the rest. ☮️

I just turned 51, so I am a kid of the 80s. Thank you to these guys for giving us what we want..... which is 80s music, 80s hair, 80s outfits..... I will find a way to see these guys live when they are somewhere near me...... if not, maybe a trip south to socal.

If they sounded good on the Girls Girls Girls tour, I'd be highly suspect of tape playback being the reason. I have friends who went to the Girls, Girls, Girls tour. And said they sounded horrible. So, maybe it wasn't tape playback. And they just had a good night when you saw them. Who knows?

Whatever he became when Sammy Hagar was in the band just wasn't the same person, he lost his voice his hair, his showmanship, his sense of humor. He was absolutely awful when he rejoined after Hagar.
BADASS Van Halen covers as ALWAYS guys! I LOVE how Michael does DLR's classic screams perfect! I wish Dave could have sounded this good in his later years.
It's just incredible how they're completely original yet unbelievably spot on to the mighty VH and honestly, every 80s metal band they cover rolled into one. Like a Voltron of hair metal. It's a testament to how talented they really are. All of the best elements of all of those bands, a complete decade of music and the greatest guitar player to ever live and take it all and make it their own. Steel Panther in my opinion, saved music.
