Here is my review of a Laver and Wood PP01 Signature sent in by Hope from Wollongong. Purchased for his birthday it's a custom made bat requested in 2'10 cane handle in pp01/thicker special profile.
To directly quote from the website:
    www.laverwood....
"Signature represents some of the rarest and finest (top 1%) of the Grade 1 English willow available.
A Signature blade will have 7 or more good, straight, and even grains with very minor blemishes in the playing area and sometimes contain colour (heartwood) on one side. These bats simply look beautiful and in the 22 years since 1999, when L&W was established in New Zealand, James has only made 380 of these blades. Each Signature is made and tested personally by James. We have a unique pressing system that is more traditional and tends to give the bat a longer than average life whilst still holding a good performance."
    "PP01
This is the modern day players profile, offering a forgiving hitting zone with a substantial toe with a slight duckbill shape to balance the bat nicely in your hands. This is based on a profile the majority of professional cricketers are currently using.
The pressing offers large and sligtly rounded edges throughout the blade with a slight duck bill toe to promote a vastly superior pick up.
Weights start at 2lb 8oz (1130g) and go through to 3lbs (1360g). This bat is very well suited to all playing conditions where you need the power to hit over the top but also need good bat speed for the technical shots and good toe strength."

I do this as a hobby and I do not make any money doing this or get paid to create the videos. So owners of the bats cover the return freight costs of bats sent in and I do not always accept a bat for a variety of reasons and do not run a bat knocking service as the time it takes to create content is considerable.

I've had 5 Signatures from L&W and all have been monster pingers! I can't believe I sold them all on...

Another wonderful and detailed bat review. The bat itself is top class. I like how Laverwood tries to get the bat made as close to the customer's specs as possible. I think there was a slight editing issue at 10:08 on the video

Yep, i trimmed out a boring bit about bat covers. I noticed it but couldn’t be stuffed fixing it again. Long edit today.

Wow what a beautiful bat. I've had a laver and wood reserve in the past and I totally agree that they are pressed really hard. They do take a while to play in imo, but once they do they really fly. Because of the stiff handle they can be quite "jarring" though if you go for a hack and don't middle it

I wonder how these compare to a top end ss like kohli etc use.

    • @CricketBatInfo
      @CricketBatInfo  2 роки тому +2

Totally different. A SS would probably fail at the handle eventually with the same shots David is mentioning, but still feel okay without going as far. Much more twist at the handle and splice.

Great review👍🏻 I thought the GN comparison video is on its way. In one of your reviews, I guess you mentioned about a GN comparison video of all the GNs reviewed recently 🤔

1487 plus knocking in and shipping if you don't want to wait long for it so in the end bout 1600aud maybe more depending on handle choice. I'm sure it's a better bat than my malik zulfi legend but it was only 700 and I doubt it's much better performing than my malik. Better craftsmanship on the LandW without a doubt. Great review mate love seeing something truly top end getting the once over.

Top end bat's are never the most cost effective choices, people pay that price for GN Legend Gold and MRF top end

@@CricketBatInfo I'm not sure i understand your question. I think these bat companies have locked onto a market trend and are selling their "prettiest" willows under the guise of players willow at ridiculous prices. I have seen a couple bats used by shiv chanderpaul and Sarwan and while they looked good you wouldn't call them player willow but they pinged something ridiculous. Look if you have the money feel free I owned a laver and wood back in the day it was on sale online. It was ok probably used it 3 times and have no idea what became of it. I know people who love em to death. These prices tho....

Nice bat....not the lightest of clefts though, underwhelming specs seems to ping though well, great review as always 👏 👍

Edges rounded so it would have been close to 40mm with 66mm spine and 30mm toe under 2.10 is on the light side mate.

@@stevenroger2554 no mate you don't know what your on about you would not lose 4mm on the edge due to rounding, 1-2 mm yes not 4mm. As i said before not the lightest of clefts, but the key is the ping!

Not sure you will like it if your into TK now, closer to a GM in bat response, but the handle shape on the Laver is medium by default.
      get a Milli shape

Great bat but probably wasted in the hands of our English test team…

    • @CricketBatInfo

Doesn't matter how expensive you bat is if your confidence is low. Doesn't appear to be hostile, just relentless. I am guessing most of their pressure is in their dressing room and once the series is lost the players will relax.
We have all had seasons that just don't work.
