Here is my full review of a 2008 Puma Tribute 6000 and it's amazing handle technology that was developed in conjunction with Newbery. Many thanks to @bills_cricket_bats on Instagram for dropping in for a chat and supplying this and the Puma Balistic.
Here was his Ebay ad for the bat.

This video took a fair bit of time to put together as I waited for all the parties to provide the detail. I never contacted Newbery or the Keeley for comment, but there is no need as both companies released the technology.
There is a really good video of Rob Pack demonstrating the handle that you can watch of a Robert Pack cricket bat making talk (credit: fwcampbell52L2L)

I do this as a hobby and I do not make any money doing this or get paid to create the videos. So owners of the bats cover the return freight costs of bats sent in and I do not always accept a bat for a variety of reasons and do not run a bat knocking service as the time it takes to create content is considerable.
All videos are owned by CricketBatInfo. All views are that of the owner and are based on a one-off experience from an individual bat and not a whole range or brand.

Nice little review Marc, these did launch the same time as Newbery in 2006 - still got a couple made up hanging around in my stores - some shafts did break from time to time as like normal cane handles - Professional players tested them too for us and a couple of my ole team mates are still using them - when they ping they certainly do fly 😉🏏💥 such a shame after all the care/time taken to work with the MCC within the laws of our great game and they then banned them after Grays night their out 😕 but hey that’s life, we move on 😉🏏💥
Thanks for the reply Rob. I wasn’t 100% sure of the release date and used a sketchy at best link off the internet that i left in the description. I wish these bats had come to Australia and I no doubt would have purchased and used it, i loved new bat tech. This definitely was not on the gimmick side of cricket bat innovation and should have been allowed. I appreciate you taking the time to clarify this and the performance in the video comments for everyone to read. 👍🍻
Do you have puma same bat?
Really really enjoyed the last two reviews, a break from the norm and appreciate the extra effort in researching these bats 👏👏
Thanks Liam. They take a bit longer but are worth doing and i’m keen now my review bench is almost complete.
Great bat. The first Ballistics in the UK had the same handle. I know because I used one for a number of years. Still have it in my loft. Easily the best ping I’ve had from a bat in all the ones I’d ever owned. Absolutely no vibrations from shots, amazing flex in the handle too. Went like a bullet.
Thanks for this info. I was amazed as I tapped it up how little vibration I felt.
Loving these retro bat reviews, well done Bill and Marc 👍👍
Thanks mate.
yet again you have don another brilliant bat review i love them
Thanks Richard 👍
I have one of these I got from a shop a couple of years ago I don’t know how they still had it in stock 😂, it needs a bit of tlc but the puma stickers from that era are in my opinion some of the best
Thanks Lewis
Great review Marc
Thanks Ben. Hope you are well.
A classic 2000's profile👌😍🏏
💯agree
I was given one of these made by and sourced direct from Rob while my bats were under repair when playing in the cambs league in 2008. I couldn't make sense of it, when you got it out of the middle you'd hit a ma massive ball but off centre they were really unforgiving and felt inconsistent to use. My only regret is not getting a bat direct from Rob when I was there, he made a custom for my team mate and it was the nicest bat i'd ever seen, unfortunately, it was too heavy for me and I had already wasted too much money on 2 news sticks that summer
Thanks David for this really honest account of the playability. I wonder if this is because of the cylinder plug. A carbon fibre tube should tolerate twist and bending. As its part epoxy resin they would have epoxy glued it into the plug and i’m guessing pva glued the plug into the cleft. I imagine unlike a cane handle it wouldn’t play-in or an increase in handle whip. At some point the resin would just collapse or shatter. I personally owned the Fusion for one season and hated it. On the test bench id say the Puma design was superior in feel. But I don’t get to ‘drive the car, only inspect and kick the tires’.
I wonder whether off centre hits felt worse on your hands because the handle twisted less (in comparison to a full cane handle) but in reality more energy was going into the ball?
Pretty cool...had no idea about this plug tech in bats.
I remembered it, but never knew about the Puma link.
@@CricketBatInfo I am partial to a puma bat...used to have one a few years ago in the team kit bag...a puma velocity from memory...it had a cracking good middle & quite light...unfortunately it was not looked after so ended up quite damaged.
Wish the mcc would relax a bit and let some of these good technologies back in so makers can be more creative. Imagine this handle tech in a laminate and low density willow with a 70mm spine 😃
Bahahaha.. chuck some carbon on the back too 😂
This is amazing video and i love thay you went into details of how the handle worked.
Do you know if the same technology is used in grey nicolls nitro bats. I have one for repair and i was wondering. The weight of the bat is 1140 gms and i love the pickup. I am in hawaii and manage the club here if you ever visit
As always love your content.
A like 👍 would be appreciated
The laver and wood C10 handle passes laws at the moment ? Does that technology in your opinion make a difference.
In my original edit I talked a little about laver handles and have seen them all and used a couple. The carbo c10 is literally a traditional handle with a rod inserted at the tip that doesn’t cross the shoulder tabs. It’s plugged too. I actually tested the weight difference between a handle with and without a carbon rod and the difference was negligible. All it does is make the handle much stiffer. This could help reduce power loss, but I personally liked the traditional handle their make for feel. Check my laver playlist for more on those. They are with the appendix b of the laws.
Thank you for this review. I wanna know, what happened to Puma now ? Cause it cannot be seen any international players use Puma bat in these days ? Have they stopped their manufacturing ?
Yep. Stopped a few years back.
@@CricketBatInfo Thank you. Do you have an idea about why they stopped ? i think mccllum was the last player who used Puma bat.
Mark you're doing a great job i mean you're becoming Dr.
Thanks mate. I just want to get to 10000 subscribers soon so i can give that bat away
I'm also waiting 10k subscribers hopefully will be good
I had the Gray Nic fushion 😂 The top of the handle came off exposing the hollow handle. This made the bat sound absolutely awful.
Me too. It as garbage.
Do you use this bat in match or not??
Is it is similar with common bat to play?
Watch my other videos and judge for yourself. Yep its banned due to the handle technology.
Where to buy this bat?
I like it very much

Hey can get this cricket bat. Please
Read the video description.
@@CricketBatInfo I tried but it's showing its been sold out
Kookabura beast banned due to graphite.
Yep, stopped the blade twist and reduced the energy loss. That would have been expensive to make. One day I’d like to do a similar video on that,
