Street Running Train Runs Red Light, Rest Of The Story! Front & Back, Industrial Spur Franklin Ohio

- Rare Ohio street running train on Franklin Industrial Spur. Very few videos show this elusive street runner train in Ohio and this is the only video that shows the local switcher at the end of the spur. I show the very end of the line, the small railroad bridge next to the customer switch where they are switching the customer and I show the street running train. Since the first video did so well, I decided to show the rest of the story, as Paul Harvey would say. This section of street running track is supported by only one customer and they are only switched as needed. This is a difficult street runner train to catch and I had quite a few people tell me that they drive down this track all the time and never knew it was still in use. I was documenting the end of the line and showing the rusty rail head when the train just happened to show up. When I first heard it, I thought it was just a train across the river so you can imagine my surprise when I realized how lucky I was that it happened to show up while I was here! For more info on this little Norfolk Southern line, see my other video of it. • Street Running Train R... The customer is R Good Industries Franklin Yards. Trains use 160.980 and this was filmed September 27, 2019. Thanks for watching! Please leave a comment, rate and SUBSCRIBE TO JAWTOOTH!!

Probably just an old design of a switch that worked well enough to keep in production. I think back in the 80's they were still making those checker cabs with the same design they'd used since the 50's. If it works well, no reason to change it. :)
3:55 no I don't say Pure Luck I say "Pure Luck and Irony" DUH DUH TSSSSSSS Thank you and Goodnight!
that wold be cool to have that house and watch the tranes and listen to them on radio good get my man big fan of street run's

Superb Railway Video!👍
👍👍
Thank you!
Jaw Tooth....The Train Chasing Savant!
Those rails have more waves than a Thanksgiving Parade.
Great catch and Thumbs Up.
I would loved to have seen the train going over that trestle over the Great Miami River!
That switch is old, all right- 31 years old. Lol.
👍👍👍👍👍
Great “Live Action” and “More” as always!
Awesome! Live action!
Cool!
Excellent Great catch and video Thanks for sharing your work!
Where's the "But wait, there's mooore?" Love that...always puts a smile on my face!
Nice one Brian!!! I smashed the like-button!!!!
EARTH ANGEL ♥️That was a nice catch of a “little” Black Beauty! 👍🚂 Is the old station being lived in now, as home 🏡? 🤔 Wish I was the one living in it!!!🥰🎃. Love 💕 those horns!!!👍😍🎃🦹🏻♀️
Lived near the nickle plate most my life. Arcadia, fostoria, findlay, mc Comb, mount Corey / rawson, and tiffin area. Used to wach the passenger rail pass near Bascom. (From my aunt's 3 story house) Used to walk to north findlay( Mortimer) then break south to findlay proper. During the cooler months (Christmas) ride to LIma for a fare of $1.62. the nickle plate had a platform. And whistle stopped at arcadia . Circa 1950s ending in 62. Rails for ever. Tks.
Visiting from Tennessee. I find the old buildings gone from my childhood. Near tiffin/Seneca co. Just foundation. A real shame. Victorian(switch) buildings gone. Automation. What can I say? Found some Berry's, (hobo camp) and got some ice cream. Verry good.. enjoy the ohio winter. And snow.
Quite a few viewer have commented about the warped rails. They should go on You Tube & watch the Pentrex video, " Empire Builders to Milwaukee ". It shows Chicago & Northwestern diesels pulling a circus train over some real bad track!
Thanks Man. Another one of your Cool Videos. Happy Railfanning!
Always a good informative video from jaw tooth 👍🏻 Just googled the area 😆 I’ve said before my auntie married a GI from Ohio and I missed many chances to visit. They always told me that they had lots of train running through the town 😄 Keep the great videos coming thanks Stevie 😎🇬🇧
These are my absolute favorite railfan videos. Small branch lines with a ton of cool facets....the bridge, the street running, the dead end.....just the best! Woo!!
My wife wants you to come to Shelby, Ohio where she works and record trains passing through.
If that ain't pure dumb luck, i don't know what is......
Wow, that track is rough !
No kidding! That spur looks like spaghetti!
I can’t believe that they’re using an SD on it instead of a GP.
Great videos man... just one suggestion. Do more Ric Flair wooooooooo!!!!
Love that EMD SD40-2 unit. Read an article on how tremendously reliable and powerful they are for first being produced back in 1972. 3000 hp. A real nice switcher too!!!
nice catch of the switch action and love the company name R. Good , i wonder if they use the slogan of , " we think our products R Good " or similar versions can be thought of.
My school is right next to this street runner normally this is how they run a few months go by and all of a sudden they will send them by about 3 to 4 times then another few and so on they mostly come through around 1 30 3 30 is and rarely around 7 am
JT, you are the luckiest son of a gun I know of when it comes to getting train video.
I try and try and try wait and wait and wait and never get a thing.
What is your secret?
Patience and luck. Yesterday, I waited 4 and a half hours for a street running train in Elizabeth, Pennsylvania.
I live right by a track, and I can never catch any video when I have free time. its always when I'm in a hurry to go somewhere.
Persistence.
I saw a fairly small engine the past weekend. I noticed it had the old Canadian Pacific livery. Kinda want to know what engine it was.
You have been getting lucky a lot here lately keep it up. Awesome video
Wow that was really cool it went right through the center of town always appreciate your videos you are so lucky to be around so many trains I live in northern Michigan hardly ever see a train:-) peace
How far did the line continue when built originally? Also how long is this line from a connecting line to this customer?
It was a mainline to Cincinnati from northern Ohio at one time. The line to the NS main is probably only about two miles
@Jaw Tooth I could be wrong but after we're the end of the line is I believe this line used to you could be able to see it in the bushes or in the brush their along State Route 73 it would continue South and where where there's an overpass with the same main line that goes in to Middletown it would have connected back into that line which is just North of Middletown or just at the North End of Middletown.
Cool street running. I like that small old bridge, neat bit of history !!
Very Horrible Design of the Tracks yet,
I Love it! ♥️
The Tracks seem so out of place, I actually Love it..&..hopefully no one ever Crashes into the Trains.
Sometimes Odd is Wonderful..&..Enjoyed the Video by the way😎
Hey, you did great catching that action! Never know what you’ll find until you go exploring. 👍🏼💯
You got that right!
I like how the trains come down the middle of the street. But are they always this short? I only see just a few box cars the last couple of videos. Well it makes sense. They DO cross directly in front of houses. Thanks for sharing!
Tinnybird G great question I'm just guessing here but I believe the train in this video is a local or a switch job either way the customer only needs a few freight cars at a given time to do business with the railroad, the city i live in these sort of moves are common I'm a modeller so i treasure these videos that show this type of operations hope i was any kind of help
@@timothybogans3905 Thanks! Your answer was helpful.
@@tinnybird1971 you're very welcome
Yes, they are short on this one because there is only one small customer and then the track ends
@@JawTooth hey thanks man and great video by the way, question what customer got those pd- covered hoppers and any idea what was in them thanks for sharing
American railway infrastructure is pathetic.
So cool!
Awesome video!!!! Love seeing these old spur lines
I’m surprised that there’s not a big wasp nest under the bridge - I guess they’re not rail fans? 😎
awesome Brian, yes this was amazing and yes exit stage left after you thank mom and dad and little furry animals and God and except your Emmy :-)
LIVE ACTION Is coming along.
Looks like that front left arm malfunctioned
Jawtooth, if you look at the date stamped on the rails over that little bridge, it may give you a clue as to just how old that bridge and spur is. Cool video though JT, reminds me of being a kid growing up in NJ when I would see that in nearby Burlington city and Camden NJ that was quite common and still happens today there but not as frequently
Loving your videos here in the UK near to Stonehenge!! What camera do you use. Really nice and crisp shots. Thanks. Stay safe stay well. Colin
Thanks, you too! I use the Iphone 8 . Soon I am going to get the 12
BTW, how could those 6 people hit the dislike button??? I just don't get it.... maybe they are just doing it to get a rise out of me?!?
12 today.
i love you papa jer toof, you make all of my dreams cum true
Love you too son!
that Train Switch was made the Same Year I was Born! although I'm still 30 right now and won't be 31 until neat the end of the Year! Yeah I was Born before Christmas!
TheSegacampGamer and Werecamp we were all born before Christmas.
Some bad looking track.
Great video. I would like to know the interurban history of this town (I saw the sign by the road)
I really like the old Franklin train station, complete with an original freight wagon. Would love to know when it was built and the history of the rail line. If the walls of that place could talk!
The street running on West 6th Street in Franklin, Ohio makes me think of East 15th Street in New Albany, Indiana.
I would love to see street running in New Albany again! One of my faves railfanning spots is at Lannan Park at the south side of the K&I Bridge.
@@dsmith9964 I know what you mean, my friend and I sat at the end of 15th Street and we would watch them come all the way down the street.
@@razrramonel4077 15th Street in New Albany or 15th Street in Louisville? If you go behind the motorcycle shop at 15th and Portland Ave in Louisville, there's a pretty good view of the Clagg Tower and the trains coming off the 14th Street Bridge!
I like train videos on UA-cam jawtooth 👍
Man, love watching your videos...you always find something interesting to film...that spur is freaking cool...I wonder how long they’ve been using it that way
play the video sun great shots.
Great video as always Jawtooth.
Nice old station there ,can not be many in that condition now. I love these old wavy spurs you find, way more interesting than main line fast stuff.
They are my favorite also but they are difficult to catch trains on.
Nice catch, sometimes we get lucky. I was able to catch the local short line in my area doing a Rare switching job and it was just pure luck that I caught it.. Thanks again for the video.
Just love street running trains !
This is absolutely sick!
Jaw tooth another good video I just got back from the Cajon Pass watching Union pacific big boy 4014 i’ve already seen myself onone video shot from that drone I was pacing it in my jeep I consider myself very fortunate I can honestly say now that I have witnessed and paced all of UP’s steam locomotives 844.3985,&4014
But wait there’s more I still have Saturday Sunday in the Cajon Pass then Tuesday he leaves on the sun set route soooonn
Jaw Tooth my granddaughter is showing me how to post videos So please bear with me I’m new to this
Through truss bridge.
Awesome video! I enjoyed it.
That was totally awesome!
Always good to see an Ohio town.
Those were really cool. But, 1988? Old? Geez, you youngsters can be irritating. BTW, what the heck are you going to do with all that expensive dirt in your yard?
I am filling in a swampy area. In the spring there was water there for over a month and I had to mow right through it. I hope I fixed it
@@JawTooth I hope you did, too; otherwise, you might have to track down its source on top of everything else.
Great catch son. Time the MOW crew did some work on that siding, it's a wonder that the loco could even stay upright on it.
Like Your Videos
I remeber that
Awesome! I finnaly caught that same street runner today last time a saw him was almost 9 years ago! I so happened to at the end of school hear the horn of him and I so happened to be picked up and we headed down to exactly where you where! Lol and got him 20 mins later fun fact they stopped for ice cream too! Lol
Wow, that is awesome! What time did they stop for ice cream?
They actually did stop for ice cream Lol! Around 3:30 is when I got him.
Awesome video!
😀😀Awesome🇮🇳 Video🌻 Jaw Tooth🌷🌷 Thanks👍👍 for🌼 Share 🎈🎈
Fascinating
Excellent!
Sweet 😀
Road hog.
Superb close ups Jawtooth -another superb live action video ! Love the end of the line features !
Dang lucky if only trains showed up in California because it’s so rare to see freight trains pass in Los Angeles California
What is the name of the intro song?
Heavy by Huma Huma but I added one of my roosters to it
In the 60ene there was trains on the streets in down town Copenhagen
I remember in 1969 I saw a locomotive run down the streets in downtown Cincinnati
The other side of the river at the train tressle is a Rd that takes you back to RT 4. That bridge is a low underpass like 12 ft tall.
It has took out more than one truck. They miss the turn into Atlas roofing.
I wonder if the bullets are still nearby, or if the Police already bagged and tagged them? This would make a nice scene to add to one’s model railroad; some nice trees, a turnout, and a customer spur to switch out! Yay 😁❤️
When was this filmed? 10/9 in NJ 55 degrees!! And you in summer shirt!! Love the video!! 👍😁
That is some pretty awful looking track sure could use some TLC from the MOW
Do you know what the original owner of this line was? Maybe Nickel Plate Road or Wabash?
Nice video, however I felt like I was playing a first person shoot em up game from 9:30-10:30ish. Lol
More A++ quality content JT!
Nice catch JT. Also liked the close ups of that little bridge on the siding!
WHOOO!!!
Also, were any of the crossing signals working?? Didn't seem like it.
Yes, they were working
nice,Ohio Red white Blue Dutch flag colors.yes yes.
Fantastic capture. G'day from Australia mate. 🇦🇺
This is legit gonna be me when I grow up
Jaw tooth you're always horsing around with Norfolk Southern
Back in 1970, when Burlington Northern absorbed the Great Northern - it got my goat!
Start the video son
Great lucky catch.
It sure was. Thanks for watching!
Surprise! Thank you for filming this operation.
Nice catch!
Do love the 40-2 "Longhood". Not a fan of his horn. LOL
JT you're the luckiest guy, you always get awesome video.
Thanks for another great street running video, that was pure luck nice kovr it
The way those tracks have sagged it will be pure luck that it makes it out of there.
