Hi A summary: 8 week - feeding by hand and putting a bit on his bowl so he learns that you give food - learn his name, when feeding is name then reward (food) - yes word, say yes and then reward. - Crate training - Potty training: after food, after a nap, after playing - Extra: teach follow food in your hand. 9 weeks - Supervision is key, they puppy is more comfortable, so you need to reach them to behave. - Same as week 8, reinforcement there. - Follow food to do a circle, make the puppy work, if they work they receive a reward. - Extra: hold the collar and reward. 10- 16 weeks - 1st week. sit, down and stand commands can be teached, better to pick just one: sit. Then way of doing is Command > stimulus > reward. So you said the command, do the movement for them to sit and then reward. - 2nd week: 1. continue with same command but now with the same gesture but without the reward. The reward comes after, this is to teach that not always need a reward. 2. Start bond, like touching them paws, ears, nails...and rewarding if they behave. - Continue teaching through those weeks other commands, 1 command per 1 or 2 weeks. - Important to learn “come” commands with their name. Use a leash to make him come with food & follow your hand with food. Increase challenge with distractions.
19:04 very important! my dog went deaf because my family couldn't recognize the ear infection in time. we did notice the smell but didn't understand though. Make sure to smell the ears
It’s such a great way to mark that moment, so you can still reward with good timing, Jill! Over time, your pups will learn that inflection of the “yes” matters. And it won’t create chaos when the Bears kick a clutch field goal..😁 Maybe that adds to the excitement? Happy Training ~Ken
McCann Dog Training We have to work on the inflection for sure, because we are just as excited for that field goal as we are when our pups do what we ask them. Maybe be should change the excitement for the bears to “OH HELL YES!” LOLOL You and Kayl are great and have taught us so much! Thanks for all you guys do to help our canine citizens through educating “us people.”
Hi so i purchased a puppy when he was first born from breeders. Ohio. Im in jersey. But i cant get him till hes 10 weeks it will be Is that ok? Aren’t those 2 weeks important from when he leaves his mom ?
My puppy is 10 weeks old, he sits, stayes, goes down, stands, heels and sits when I come to stop; all on command. I started his training since his 7th week.
@@indiashante1560 Only need hard work and consistency. It's very hard. Mine also is work in progress. Just remember, get a harness instead of walking him on a collar.
I love how her little baby yoda ears perk up the second you say yes while training without the food. It really is a place keeper she knows means food is coming. I’m using all of your techniques with my 10 week old GSP I’ve had her for only 3 whole days and she’s already heeling, leaving my cats alone, sitting, lying down, turning left and right, sleeping all night in her crate without complaining. She’s a dream dog, I hope I can continue to do this amazing intelligent beauty justice because I work in an animal shelter (where I’ve adopted her from) and it’s heartbreaking to see the potential all the dogs would have but they haven’t had those foundations of good manners and exposure to socialisation opportunities when they were younger.
Week 1 (*relationship building*): Hand feed her breakfast to her, say her name then feed her, build value on yes. Say "yes" then reward them *be sure to use a houseline on them at all times when out of crate 1st day home, teach them to love their crate. House training starts week 1 as well. Take her out before crate, after crate, after every meal and play session and nap.
Your videos are sooo much more valuable than some of the other (not so “revolutionary”) dog training channels that YT’s algorithm gives preference to. Also, thank you for not killing us with a borage of endorsements and ads for the first fifteen minutes of every video.
Can you refrain from using such adorable puppies, when you doing these videos. I had to watch it three times, because the first two times, I was too busy doing the awwwww, to pay attention lol
This video is gold. Honestly. I've been saying for years that UA-cam is the best educational resource that has ever existed. Ken, this video ought to be compulsory viewing for the vast majority of dog owners. I've always had German Shepherds and they've all been fantastic (always reward-based training) - although the last one, from a more 'working' background (I wanted a challenge for Schutzhund) was a little too challenging with crate training at night! After an 8 year gap (children) the time is right and we've a beautiful Border Collie, 8 1/2 weeks old. I found you by searching specifically for Border Collie 'tips' - understanding just how 'interesting' this breed is in particular. I've learned a lot of new methods from your video here and I'd encourage people to be aware of the subtle point when watching it that its us that needs to modify our behaviour to get the most out of value training. So many problems are unwittingly caused by the owners. Our little one is doing a little too well perhaps. It's almost concerning. She's quickly gained confidence and has slept every night without so much of a whimper. Last night (day 6) she slept 2300-0630 and I do love to wake her by getting myself ready rather than wait for her to wake. Jan Fennell's famous methods of ignoring the dog until you're ready are a great help in keeping them calm in these respects. Question: when a dog's doing exceptionally well - do you push on a little ahead with the training or try to keep it steady and allow it to develop naturally as she grows mentally, concentrating instead on reinforcing what they do well? Now to train the kids....!
I got my puppy Nala 8 weeks ago she’s 16 weeks today. We have been following your methods from day 1 and she’s doing so well . Thank you McCann dogs . I’m so proud of her and your advice Has been invaluable as she was our families first dog so it was new for both us and her .
My puppy knows sit, stay, lay down, come, spin, shake ,so far. Thank you for this video. 😉 My puppy loves to go for walks and her recall training is getting better and better. I use positive reinforcement to train my dogs.😋 I am sooo proud of Zara, my pup.😁
Im getting a puppy tomorow and it's already 2,5 months old and he has get used to beeing 100% free since he was a stray basically. I'll have a lot of work in my hands and i've been binge watching videos and reading a bunch to be ready for him. The people who are taking care of him told me he almost died when someone left him and his 4 siblings in a box out in the wilderness alone and they found them starving and sick. Now out of all of them he is the smallest and the shyest so i imediately wanted to get that dogo out of the bunch and give him the love he needs. Hopefully i'll be a good owner ( meaning i wont spoil him too much xD).
Just got a 8 week old pup 3 days agi, he'll be a gigantic boi so I want to make sure he is friendly, happy and well trained. He's already met a few dogs and people, I take him everywhere I go. This video will surely help get the basics down, thank you!
Oh my gosh! I am so happy to have your your UA-cam channel. We are bringing home our first pup ever, and you have made it seems so much easier than I was expecting. I can not thank you enough for the delight we will have to bring this pup home. I just wish you lived closer. I have started a journal for her with all of your instructions and things we will need. Again Thank you!
I brought mine home on Saturday, she's an absolute joy and I'm convinced this channel's advice has been the main reason it has been so enjoyable! Enjoy your new puppy, and good luck!
Thank you!! This was SO helpful! Love the week-by-week and step-by-step details! We're picking up our 8 week old puppy this weekend and will start using so much of your training in the coming weeks and months.
I love all of your training videos. We are adopting a 6 month old Patterdale Terrier tomorrow so I have to adapt your methods as she has not had any training and has never lived in a house. So we are in for a lot of work but also a lot of fun.
I’m getting my baby Yorkie in 26 days! I am so excited, and I wanted to thank you for your help! I really want to make sure she can be disciplined but also feel the love from my husband and I!
im getting a new puppy soon so ive been watching your free training with great interest, ive stopped letting my 5yr old male feed himself and im doubling down on training with hand feeding only and lately ive been using his name and getting eye contact holding my treat up to my nose and locking eyes before he gets the food, im starting to notice a positive difference with these approaches, thanks for your free youtube content im a disability pensioner so i appreciate free knowledge.
This is what I was looking for. There’s plenty of puppy training videos, but I needed to know what do I do on day 1? How do I know if Am I behind? What should I be accomplishing and when? Thanks a lot!
We didn’t do any of these things the first week we had Maya, now I’m watching the videos and applying the training. I hope that week of too much freedom can be remedied
Great video Ken, we're getting our golden retriever pup in 4 weeks and I'm trying to do my homework before she arrives. Tomorrow I'll watch it again and take notes 👍 thanks again for creating such great videos. Shame I don't live in the US as I'd be signing up to your school. Cheers Nigel
Hi there, Nigel! I love the effort you’re putting into preparation for your new puppy! Even if you lived in the U.S. you’d still have to drive north to Canada to train at our facility. No matter where you are though, we do offer online training and we will have a new product that may be right for you in the VERY near future😉 Happy Training ~Ken
I have to say THANK YOU! I fed my 7 week old puppy by hand. He already knew the sit command so it made it easier. His behavior was almost perfect. No more inhaling his food!
I'm saving this playlist. I'm getting a longhaired chihuahua puppy in May (she was just born a week ago). I've been waiting for a puppy for over a year now! Now that she's actually born, my Rory is going to be super spoiled and I can't wait. The next couple of months is going to be absolute torture to me lol
I wish i had started watching your videos when i first got my pups, i can tell there would be a big difference in their behavior if i had all this info when we got them. Working to do my best to backtrack and get their basics down!
Hey Lena, thanks for all the support. The good news is it's never too late! There is no shame in backtracking, you will see the fruit of that decision as you stay consistent with your training. Thank you so much for these amazing videos. I’ve had puppies before but it’s been more challenging since I am older with mobility issues. We had a trainer but due to the covid19 classes were halted after the first one. I thought I remembered everything from 7 yrs. ago but have found myself forgetting and becoming extremely frustrated. These videos are helping me so much and feel much more relaxed about the training. Your training methods are the same as my trainer which makes it easier for all. Thank You again and stay healthy! From California 😷🐾
@Towncrafter Me too. I’m 77 with a new puppy. Training is going great. I’ve only had her for 3 weeks. She knows her name, Come, Sit, Down, and we are working on Stay. Great advice on this channel.
Your a freiken Godsend. Like 4 real. I guess I messed up for the first two days but you are really helping me out here. Ty so much !! Last time I adopted a dog they were an adult already. So this puppy thing is new to me.
I’m trying to adopt a new puppy and I really want to train it well, this will be my first dog ever and I’m so excited but also a little nervous. Thank you for this helpful video!
MØCĦĪ Congrats! I got my puppy this week his name is Iroh and he is so cute and good even though of course it is hard work watching and training him, but I love him so much
@@gabrielacorbettmills9018 I'm so happy 😊 cuz I'm adopting it tommorow morning! 🤗 And I'm going name him Henry. Iroh is a very unique name. And I love it.
Excellent training schedule for all new puppy owners. Clear & concise instructions for immediate training issues & future proofing. Loaded with illuminating insights to help new owners understand how their puppy views the world. Essential viewing. Many thanks
Getting a GSD puppy in a few months and I haven't done the puppy thing in a long while. About 7 years! This video will help me tremendously! Thank you!
Wow, amazing video. That was a lot of valuable lessons in a (much appreciated) organized format. Thank you for that, I've been watching a lot of dog training videos and this one really stands out.
As a first-time dog owner, your channel has been a lifesaver! However, I would really find it helpful to know a schedule or timeline for what skills I can/should be working on at what ages as he gets older. Do you have a document or a video somewhere that has rough ages with what skills they should be able to learn (like a kids’ developmental milestones chart)? Thanks!
McCann Dogs are awesome. I've watched so many of your videos for training my new puppy in lockdown and they are really helpful. The puppy's training is going brilliantly and any problem we've encountered you've had a video with loads of great advice and ideas. Thank you so much, from Kent in UK.
That observation that at 9 weeks old they start having more energy and want to explore more was so spot on! I initially thought I had made some kind of mistake and now my puppy just wants to get into everything.
When my dog was a puppy training sit he would randomly come and sit to get treats 😂 like on the walk sit I got him when I was 7 I’m 20 now he’s an old boy :)
Thank you! I found this really helpful and clear. We are picking up our puppy in 2days and you helped me to feel hopeful that we'll be able to train him. :-)
I'm picking up my 1st puppy in ten days! ^-^ I'm naming her Lovie; she is an American Pitbull cross. Setting her up for success has been my #1 priority in preparing for her arrival; thank you for making this video! I am so grateful for this channel!
Goodness!! I wish I had come across this sooner! I got my first puppy a few weeks ago and I had zero idea of what to do. Potty training was a nightmare, teaching her to not bite felt like it was just taking AGES but then I came across your channel and now I have training set up for the foreseeable future lol I have a lot of work to do! But I’m so thankful to have some kind of direction now❤️❤️
We're behind 14 weeks old and we're struggling. Sits and waits for her food until we say ok but that's about it. Just found your channel - now we play catch-up!
Got my puppy at 7 weeks he is now 12 weeks hes doing awesome. He is bot having very many accidents. Goes potty on command. Sits, lays down, shakes hand, rolls over, spins, and leaves it. He listens when he gets distracted. Walks in a leash and harness very well. Ive been working with him daily at least 2 hours per day. He is doing so well! Lots of dedication.
I HAVE to know: have you guys ever received a comment saying that the barking at the beginning of every video (knowing that the person watching is likely a puppy/dog owner) makes our dogs act out before we've even begun to watch/learn??? I just can't understand why you would leave that in the intros! Honestly! On the positive side, although I haven't watched many of your videos -for this exact reason, the few I have watched have been helpful. Thanks!
Our family is in eagerly awaiting a rottweiler puppy in June. Your videos are quite informational and we plan on using your tutorials for training. Can't wait to start this journey as a dog mommy. 🤗
Great video! Will you be doing one for older puppies? Our 6 month old bull terrier doing quite well at home but distractions are tough and recall is really tough with their very inquisitive brains.
I am following your video to get ready to train my lab.. he will be 8weeks next month.. wish me luck so that i can train him well and keep him happy and healthy 😊
Okay, so I've read and watched so much on puppy training and thought I was pretty much there. SO many things you mentioned other people haven't, such great little tips people would just forget! The constant name use in a positive way is something I never even thought about, instead would've been using the name to tell him off instead. Time to watch ALL your videos now. Thank you so so much for helping train owners better 😂🎉
I wish I knew this earlier, my puppy is 4 months old and is super hyper and active, I got her when she was 3 months. Training her has been a big task, especially since she is accustomed to a few things. She also nibbles and bites a lot which is not good at all since 6/10 times she can bite a bit too hard. Hope I can train her to be calm and obey commands soon, but it's starting to feel hopeless.
Thank you, this is excellent advice. So many people (trainers included) forget the importance of meal time. Once I've completed hand feeding and basic obedience, I like to scatter some kibble across the floor, first one way then the other. This makes meals a game to gain a bit of coordination in hunting and, pointing to missed kibbles, seems to train human hand signals as important. Dogs love the game and it slows food intake.
Could you please do a video outlining an example of a whole day. Such as wake up,take them outside to go potty, then [xyz] We are really stuck on what to do when our puppy is really hyped up in the morning but too young to go for a walk. Yet our family has to get ready for the day, eat breakfast etc so don’t have every moment of the day to follow the puppy and train it.
Shanna Hay I’m in the same situation. What’s been working for us is to take puppy outside to potty for about 10 mins and then he has breakfast. I have a leash on him and bring him wherever I am in the morning to get ready. This seems to calm him down a lot because he’s near us the whole time. Waking up earlier and playing with your pup after breakfast to tire home out while you are getting ready is really helpful too.
My Mom and i havent had a puppy in 18 years but since recently losing our two 15 year old dogs 2 weeks apart, she's decided to get a puppy. We pick her up later today actually and asked me to watch this video.

I am looking very specifically for a trainer! I would like you shadow someone and learn different approaches to handle different situations. I have very good training skills, just want to add to my repitois.
Great!!!! vid, very informative and an enjoy to watch those little pups lol!!….. I always find useful tips even though my dogs are adults now and to carry on training is fun, not just for me but for the dogs too. x
We adopted our puppy from a shelter yesterday and they don't know how old he is, but we're treating "8 weeks old" like "Week 1" and carrying on from there. So far he's very comfortable with his crate! That is our #1 success so far! No whining, crying, pacing or anything- he sleeps very soundly. He's pretty good getting handles but tries to be mouthy- fortunately he loves his bone and we can always give that to him to distract those teeth. Potty training is pretty good too. I think our weakest area is "YES!" and his name. He doesn't quite know what those mean yet. Thank you so so much for all of your videos! I've been binge-watching them for 2 months now in preparation for this little fella.
What do you do when puppy goes straight for plants or grass and pulls it out every time she goes outside. She knows leave it, and responds 100% however goes right back to the plant when she is done.
LOVE these videos- my husband even likes them and even though we are seasoned dog owners, with MOSTLY well behaved dogs- we are learning LOTS about what we will do with our incoming goldendoodle!
I got a 8 week old puppy rn and she is crate trained, can sit and I’m working on her name and stay cus that’s what I need most but I’ll definitely use a lot of these methods and plan for the more advanced stuff

Hi Ken wow never knew this and I think u r probably the first to explain this so conscience and clear thank you so much for taking your time to do this
So helpful . My dog is going to be 12 weeks old, Should I just start at the 8 week point and move from there? I am thinking that you shouldn't skip the acculturation stage.
Only three more sleeps and our cockapoo puppy will arrive. I have been very busy watching your videos. I love the way you train and will be using your training guides from day one.
Great video. Picking up my puppy in a couple of days, and really looking forward to it. I have a question. How often should we do these training sessions? If every day, how long for each session? Again, massive thanks for putting these amazing resources on the net. Really really valuable.
I have just found your site. I am based in the UK. My 7 year old son and I are planning to get a goldador in a few months - it is our first dog and I have been feeling worried about knowing what I need to do to train it and have fun too ... all is here and your videos are so clear and I already feel more confident with my choice to get a pup in our family... looking forward to learning more with your videos!! thank you! 🙂
I rescued a German shepherd from the side of the road he's only a month old now was a week or two old when I found him and I don't know how to start getting him to listen 😅 help
i have a 12 week yorkie, I tried to put a harness yesterday and she became evil. She starting snapping and growling. This is the first time that she did that. She was doing so well with all kinds of tricks and training but that episode scared me a bit.
I seen a video on getting a puppy used to a color / harness and they suggested leaving it around them for a while so they get used to it and while luring them to put a treat on the other end of the harness so she’ll put it through on her own...everything I’ve seen so far has included treats...tiny pieces but lots and lots of treats lol hope this helped :)
What is a little confusing is the morning time with feeding and taking them to pee. In your video you stated that to take them out after they have been in their crate and after meals. So how will this work for breakfast? Do I take her out after she is out of her crate then come back and feed her, and then take her out again. For lunch and dinner it makes sense to take her out after. And then take her out again before in her crate for the night. It’s the breakfast past the confuses me. Side note: I keep her in a play pen with her crate attached.
I’m getting my first puppy!! My first pet, my first American Staffordshire Terrier! I’m beyond excited! I’m getting my sweet girl on the 13th of June! I’m watching all sorts of videos and taking notes about puppies and what’s it like to be an owner of a dog! Please if you have any tips about anything that deals with dogs it can be food, exercise, necessities, training, basic knowledge, etc I will more than willing to take you into consideration! 💛
That’s really exciting, Hailey Lo! I like your attitude to learn as much as you can even before your pup comes home. That’s a great recipe for success. Enjoy the process, Happy Training! ~Ken
I got my 7 month old miniature poodle 🐩 he is very trimmed and shakes is not housebroken I don’t think he was worked with I just want to give him the best life 🐩
Hi this is Bonnie again. I picked my 9 week old poodle puppy Willow yesterday. She weighs about 3 lbs. I made a huge mistake 9f putting her in her private bathroom BEFORE wearing her out. She howled and cried until I closed the bathroom door instead of her being able to see thru gate. She immediately stopped. After 15 minutes I found her in her bed. So I picked her up praised her and played, worked at potty training her. It worked. So I had to get her to relax in bedtime small crate. Dud this by putting crate in bed with me at eye level she dud well. BUT MY BIGGEST CONCERN IS SHE'S STARTED CHEWING AND SCRATCHING AT HERSELF. I SEE NO EVIDENCE OF FLEES OR HOT SPOTS. ABOVE HER TAIL, INSIDE OF LEFT THIGH AND LICKING HER LEFT PAW AND SCRATCHING HER LEFT EAR!!! She didn't start this until after eating same food breeder has had her on and a lot of toy playing and running etc. Her toys are crackle soft, tiny rawhide chew bone, tug toy. The toys are made in China but the breeder used same. At first (3 hours) I kept her confined to her bathroom (guest) but then I let her have access to living room (carpet) and hallway (tile) she LOVES chasing me down hallway and into living room back and forth about 5 times as fast as she can. She fetches and retrieves!!! But the CHEWING I'm concerned about. I will contact breeder to see if chewing is something she'd observed. I'm wondering about crackle toys or my carpet (Should shampoo it) ?) as being culprits? PLEASE ADVISE! Your site IS appreciated! Willow will appreciate you, too. Thanks
We are getting an older puppy on Sunday (5.5 months old). Are these tips still good for us? She’s a rescue. Her first family accidentally ran her over and took her to the vet to be euthanized, but the vet convinced them to surrender her to the rescue so they could find her a new home. She’s been with a foster family for the last 2.5 months recovering from her injuries. She’s a Border Collie mix and she will be coming home to live with my husband and our Beagle mix (also a rescue).
Deborah Maliaman I hadn’t received her medical records at the time that I made that comment, so my comment was based on information I had been given by the rescue. It turns out that they took her to the vet after they ran over her to see what needed to be done to heal her, and they couldn’t afford the surgery she would need, so that’s why they opted for euthanasia. When she was hit, it broke the right side of her pelvis and shattered her left femur. The vet gave them the option of surrendering her to the rescue, and they agreed. The rescue was able to get her to a surgeon who was able to save her leg. Her leg has so much hardware in it that her post-op X-rays look like something out of the Terminator movies! Saving her leg would have cost her first family over $6k, and I can’t fault them for not having that kind of money laying around to spend on a puppy. And I doubt they spent much (if any) money getting her. Her foster parents did a DNA test on her, and she’s 62.5% Border Collie, 12.5% German Shepherd, and 25% a mix of other working and sporting breeds. So she’s a beautiful, sweet, and intelligent mutt.

Can you make a video on training dogs that you get at 4 months old?
🎉I would also like a training video for dogs that you get at 4 months and already have some really bad habits.
Hi
A summary:
8 week
- feeding by hand and putting a bit on his bowl so he learns that you give food
- learn his name, when feeding is name then reward (food)
- yes word, say yes and then reward.
- Crate training
- Potty training: after food, after a nap, after playing
- Extra: teach follow food in your hand.
9 weeks
- Supervision is key, they puppy is more comfortable, so you need to reach them to behave.
- Same as week 8, reinforcement there.
- Follow food to do a circle, make the puppy work, if they work they receive a reward.
- Extra: hold the collar and reward.
10- 16 weeks
- 1st week. sit, down and stand commands can be teached, better to pick just one: sit.

“Yes!” has so much value at our house that when the Bears score and we yell “YES!!” All our dogs come running for a reward! LOL
Say "yes" then reward them
*be sure to use a houseline on them at all times when out of crate
1st day home, teach them to love their crate.
House training starts week 1 as well. Take her out before crate, after crate, after every meal and play session and nap.
Coming up to 9 weeks- recapping the video ready for the next stage. Thanks so much for making my first days with my new puppy such a joy!
I can't put a price on the helpful tips I've gotten from this channel! So much appreciated by a first-time dog (puppy) owner!
Your videos are sooo much more valuable than some of the other (not so “revolutionary”) dog training channels that YT’s algorithm gives preference to. Also, thank you for not killing us with a borage of endorsements and ads for the first fifteen minutes of every video.
*cough cough* Zac George *cough cough*

Can you refrain from using such adorable puppies, when you doing these videos. I had to watch it three times, because the first two times, I was too busy doing the awwwww, to pay attention lol
Every puppy is cute as hell
Great name.
I have a nala too
This is the most thorough explanation I've heard for bringing a new puppy home.
Well done sir 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
My puppy knows sit, stay, lay down, come, spin, shake ,so far. Thank you for this video. 😉
My puppy loves to go for walks and her recall training is getting better and better. I use positive reinforcement to train my dogs.😋
I am sooo proud of Zara, my pup.😁
You will be! I hope it's going well 🙂
Yaaaaas!
How’s your doggie now?
I love all of your training videos. We are adopting a 6 month old Patterdale Terrier tomorrow so I have to adapt your methods as she has not had any training and has never lived in a house. So we are in for a lot of work but also a lot of fun.
I’m getting my baby Yorkie in 26 days! I am so excited, and I wanted to thank you for your help! I really want to make sure she can be disciplined but also feel the love from my husband and I!
That’s really exciting! Congratulations, Belen! Glad you’re enjoying our videos ~Ken
Wow! I'm getting my Yorkie, Bella, in 5 weeks! I can barely wait, I'm so glad I finally found the best little girl for me!
I’m getting a corgi in 8 weeks❤️ she was born two days ago!!
Brittany Harris Im getting a frug (french bulldog X pug) in 2 weeks she will be 8 week old :)
How is she doing?? Yorkie’s were the breed I had the hardest time pee pad and obedience training!
im getting a new puppy soon so ive been watching your free training with great interest, ive stopped letting my 5yr old male feed himself and im doubling down on training with hand feeding only and lately ive been using his name and getting eye contact holding my treat up to my nose and locking eyes before he gets the food, im starting to notice a positive difference with these approaches, thanks for your free youtube content im a disability pensioner so i appreciate free knowledge.
This is what I was looking for. There’s plenty of puppy training videos, but I needed to know what do I do on day 1? How do I know if Am I behind? What should I be accomplishing and when? Thanks a lot!
Haha I’m subscribed to your channel on my second account. I used to watch your videos EVERYDAY! Crazy seeing you here!!!
I'm never disappointed when I watch one of your videos. Thank you for the great and detailed content.
Glad you are enjoying our content, K M! I certainly enjoy creating it! Thanks for watching~Ken
How are you doing with your pup?
Training a chihuahua.. good luck haha ive never heard of that yet
Beautiful dogs! I love the long hair😍😍😍
So glad you’re finding our videos helpful, Townecrafter! Thanks for watching ~Ken
Oh my goodness that little border collie is so precious. What a sweet baby.
Thank you so much for this advice! my puppy came when he was already 10 weeks but it's been just 6 days and we've had such great progress
Mine is 10 weeks so it's affirming to see I can start now! 😊❤
aww thank you, my puppy is almost ten weeks too and I was afraid about how to train her!
Picking up my 8-weak-old puppy, Abbott, tomorrow! Thank you so much for making this video, it will definitely help! :)

Yeah me too I'm going to adopt it tomorrow
MØCĦĪ Congrats! I got my puppy this week his name is Iroh and he is so cute and good even though of course it is hard work watching and training him, but I love him so much

Thank you!
Glad you found it helpful, Iyana! Happy Training ~Ken
I’ve been watching tons of dog training videos and this is by FAR the best! I love all the information in one video! Amazing! Thank you!
Wow, amazing video. That was a lot of valuable lessons in a (much appreciated) organized format. Thank you for that, I've been watching a lot of dog training videos and this one really stands out.
Thank you, Wagasez! Glad you found it so helpful! Happy Training! ~Ken
OMG Our Coton de Tulear Maggie will be here in 63 hours!! I am so happy that I have your videos to CALM me and educate me!
WOW your the first guy I have heard that actually made sense to me for training
You two are amazing! I cannot thank you enough for teaching us these things. I really appreciate you guys!
Thank you so much for this info! My pup is 9 weeks and has already started to understand the sit command. 🐶
This is the most thorough explanation I've heard for bringing a new puppy home.
Well done sir
The way Biggie's two front legs move when he walks (21:24) is ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE! 😍
He is adorable isn’t he, TNTV CRAFTS! Glad you enjoyed the video. Happy Training! ~Ken
@@McCannDogs What breed is Biggie? So adorable and those cute ears!!!
@@LesTurla Looks like a Papillon or Papillon x Chihuahua, could be wrong though! 😂
Best videos I've seen! No great long waffle but straight into it! As someone completely new and struggling already this is great to have things to try
Thanks!
I believe when you reach the age he covers at the end of the video, the dog is ready for any other training that you have
Dogs aren’t children. They should be able to pick up anything you yourself are working hard to teach
"Brain is fully developed at 7 weeks" this means that they are able to learn anything
Thanks to McCann dogs for all the imformatikn video's!!!!! They ar sooo usefull. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Aww, how adorable
I’m working on sit with my puppy now and he does the same thing!!
I taught my Brittany to play dead and he's the most dramatic actor 😂 he's a hunting dog, and I got him when I was 9. He's 11 now
Getting my baby tomorrow! Watched part of this video a little while ago, decided to come back today to watch it all!
Hey! How is she?
Wow thanks I have a 7week Doberman I was gonna start training at 10 weeks but I’ll get on it
Got my puppy at 7 weeks he is now 12 weeks hes doing awesome.
Taking notes! Love the playing on your phone clip - getting our puppy in 2 weeks!
Congratulations on your new puppy! Happy Training ~Ken
Wow just got 2 of them at 8 weeks 🎉how’s it going over there?
The 10 to 16 week training was particularly helpful 11:29 So much thanks!!!❤❤❤
Great video! Will you be doing one for older puppies? Our 6 month old bull terrier doing quite well at home but distractions are tough and recall is really tough with their very inquisitive brains.
I am following your video to get ready to train my lab.. he will be 8weeks next month.. wish me luck so that i can train him well and keep him happy and healthy 😊
Love your videos. You explain the steps in a wonderful manner. I’m bringing my puppy home in a few days and your video has given me more confidence.
How’s the pup
Is she better now?? I'm in the same situation we rescued our puppy at 3 months and he's 4 months now! We have an issue with the biting too
Thank you, this is excellent advice.
Good luck, Madison! I hope this puppy is a blessing for your mom and yourself.

I have very good training skills, just want to add to my repitois.
We have a Bolognese 5months old. She has been with us 3 days. We do not have a crate. She sleeps with us. I need help with potty training please
I've watchea a lot of training videos and have been to trainers and this channel is by far the best I've come across. Thank you!
Great!!!! vid, very informative and an enjoy to watch those little pups lol!!….. I always find useful tips even though my dogs are adults now and to carry on training is fun, not just for me but for the dogs too. x
Glad you enjoyed it, Cass! Thanks for watching! ~Ken
She knows leave it, and responds 100% however goes right back to the plant when she is done.
i been training my 8 month old puppy wrong for the past 3 days, thanks for this. This was really helpful.
Love your channel great content with no fluff !! 👍
Hi there, James! I’m glad you’re enjoying the channel so much. Thanks for watching! ~Ken
LOVE these videos- my husband even likes them and even though we are seasoned dog owners, with MOSTLY well behaved dogs- we are learning LOTS about what we will do with our incoming goldendoodle!
Also when saying yes you want to make it sound exciting so that they know that they did a good job!
I got a 8 week old puppy rn and she is crate trained, can sit and I’m working on her name and stay cus that’s what I need most but I’ll definitely use a lot of these methods and plan for the more advanced stuff

Biggie is so amazing!
Getting my French bulldog tomorrow and she is 20 weeks old. Not sure that she has had much training so far so this video is helping. Thank you.
Hi Ken wow never knew this and I think u r probably the first to explain this so conscience and clear thank you so much for taking your time to do this
Glad you found it so helpful, Lina! Thanks for watching ~Ken
Biggie’s personality and little trot is everything 😂😂😂❤️❤️❤️
So helpful . My dog is going to be 12 weeks old, Should I just start at the 8 week point and move from there? I am thinking that you shouldn't skip the acculturation stage.
I have the same question!
I need to know as well. I got my puppy at 5 months old
Only three more sleeps and our cockapoo puppy will arrive.
I've just started watching your 24 hour schedule video...it's all there! Thanks so much!
Egx Beauty I’m getting two labs on June 15th!! I don’t have any advice, but congrats on your sweet girl!

I got my 7 month old miniature poodle 🐩 he is very trimmed and shakes is not housebroken I don’t think he was worked with I just want to give him the best life 🐩
Wow!!! You are an excellent teacher! Bringing home a new puppy in 2 days and your information is a game changer thank you :)
Glad you enjoyed it, CHICK CHICK! Congratulations on your new four-legged family member! Happy Training ~Ken
I'm wondering about crackle toys or my carpet (Should shampoo it)
?) as being culprits?
PLEASE ADVISE!
Your site IS appreciated! Willow will appreciate you, too. Thanks
We are getting an older puppy on Sunday (5.5 months old). Are these tips still good for us? She’s a rescue. Her first family accidentally ran her over and took her to the vet to be euthanized, but the vet convinced them to surrender her to the rescue so they could find her a new home.
She’s been with a foster family for the last 2.5 months recovering from her injuries. She’s a Border Collie mix and she will be coming home to live with my husband and our Beagle mix (also a rescue).
They are so young why they need to euthanize the poor dog? It's their fault that they bought one and has no patience to raise one.
@@ColorsofHopeCraftsASMR nice! Yes that is such a big bill. Maybe even I will just surrender the dog if that happened to me. I don't have $6k.
