Could go down the route of commenting about how this is real music, but that is too obvious. What this is, is the music of agitation; fed-up, fucked off, and proudly working class. If there is one thing good knows about how many years of tory rule that beckons it is that maybe, just maybe, we get more bands and artists that will be of similar suit emerging. It was said in another comment but it is so true - we need more "scaring folk with hubris" that comes from working class stock in guitar music. Sleaford Mods are the only thing that comes close, but aren't really guitar music in its traditional form. We need that traditional four or five piece who *are* a bit bored, edgy and perhaps even self-indulgent to inspire; bands who just churn it out and care not for appearing on Jonathon Ross, reaching the masses with commercial friendly tat, or what-fucking-ever.
@dreszczu Couldn't agree more! I wasn't too crazy about IMPERIAL WAX SOLVENT really, a shame too as there is some great songs on it but on a whole..less for me than other recent albums. This is an ace version here of "latch Key Kid" though
It's Twin Peaks you're thinking of. You know - that series with the dream sequences that had a dwarf with an unnaturally broad cranium, a furrowed brow and a very weathered complexion who spoke gnomic riddles in gibberish - And you know what? That's him on vocals here.
It’s great, the band are tight and everything, but not MES’s finest work....give me the raw power of Live at the Witch Trials and Grotesque ATG any day....I fucking worshipped the Fall back then.
I liked the bass particularly on this one. Smith kind of spoiled the good music but it does make me wonder how they come up with it. Does Smith say he wants this tune or that sound or what? or do the band sort it and then wait for him to come and stagger around moaning. I love him really.
I always wondered what their song writing process was like. I think it probably changed a bit after a while, since their later albums sound quite different from the early stuff
I was just thinking the same, they all use to be on UA-cam at one time and there was four tracks altogether. 1- Is This New. 2- Wolf Kidult Man. 3- 50 Year Old Man 4- Latch Key Kid. Luckily I managed to downloaded them all as MP3 `s but I`ve lost, " Is This New ". Shame as the quality is superb and the bass on this track makes me balls tingle
