- Megadeth's Kiko Loureiro has essentially officially confirmed that he is out of Megadeth after appearing on the Canal Amplifica podcast hosted by his former Angra bandmate, Rafael Bittencourt, with his replacement Teemu Mäntysaari staying in the band with Dave Mustaine and co. Let's discuss.

Maybe one of Kiko's child has a medical condition that prevents him to go around the globe most of the year. If your family needs you, then you stay close to home.
During the podcast he said his son needs him close now. But he didn’t clearly say why. However he said that there is no medical condition with his family members that he has to deal with at the moment. Seems to be just a matter of being around playing his role as a present father. 👍🏻
Dave didn't "kick" Kiko out like many trolls been saying.
Kiko made his money and boosted his name. His solo stuff is amazing. He doesn't need Dave.
He lived the dream already, he knows when to stop. He is Brazilian, and South Americans value family more than money, fame and anything else. Dude got the recognition he needed, now he is free to create his own band, release his album and manage his own schedules. American bands slave themselves to the grind. Did you see the craiziness of Guns N´ Roses non stop tour the past 2 years? You need balance in life.
According to Kiko, his son needed him more than Megadeth. Respect.
Kiko was in another podcast here in Brazil yesterday and he said that mustaine pretty much offered him anything money could buy for him to stay in the band (bring his family along to the tours; renting a house in the US; things like that), but that would not be good for his kids so he decided to prioritize his family wellbeing
I could see Dave doing that because he knows how much attraction Kiko has brought to megadeth. I have always liked Megadeth off and on, but Kiko has injected a new energy into the band for sure. He has I think close to a half million Subs on UA-cam and that is all directed over to Megadeth so bonus for dave.
Kiko had no control on Megadeth’s Agenda. The man clearly wants to be with his family now. With the busy 2024 schedule there was no other option than leave the band. Of course, the mysterious statements were really strange, so there might be some contractual thing going on.

Unless this is a step towards Marty Friedman's return to Megadeth. This seems to have gotten strange right after Marty's jam with the band in Japan this year. Maybe Kiko overheard something or actually knows something we don't yet about the possibility of Marry Friedman returning to the band. I'm not that big of a Megadeth fan after Marty Friedman's departure, so I don't have a lot of knowledge of what it is Mustaine does, or is about, unless it makes the headlines.
If you say this started in June, funny it’s kinda the same time that Marty played with the band. I wonder if there were talks about him coming back to the band and Teemu is filling in til then

as a brazilian who watched the whole podcast, i know almost 6 hours lol. i have to say your transcriptions are a bit off. but ur theory is kinda the same way everybody is thinking right now. anyway thats my 2 cents on the subject.
Hi there. Yes, he is. I am from Brazil and watched the full podcast. He was careful treating the matter, explained all was agreed with Mustaine (since June). There was no fight all was treated carefully with due respect. Cutting short He said he chose to be around his family, because they need him more than Megadeth needs him at the moment. There is no health issue as people think. It is matter of understanding that Megadeth’s agenda is active, there are too many people depending on the shows to make a living and he is on the other end, looking for more time with his family. This is why he decided to leave. Dave himself said he understands because he paid the price for not staying back when his son and daughter were kids (he didn’t elaborate on the paid price part). Maybe in one year or a bit more, he is back to Megadeth, if it makes sense for him and Dave, obviously. For the moment, he will move forward with his own agenda of solo gigs, workshops and so on. Nice podcast, by the way. Good job. 😀🤘🏻
É, mas ele mais uma vez não deixou claro que saiu de vez. Só falou que estava muito preso e que devido a ele precisar de mais tempo pra se dedicar à vida pessoal dele, ele "decidiu não estar no Megadeth", mas em nenhuma parte das quase 6 horas de conversa, ele disse; SAÍ DO MEGADETH. E na real eu achei que talvez tivesse interpretado mal as falas, e outras pessoas que conheço interpretaram como eu interpretei, que ele deixou dúvida no ar.
This is quite a shock. I knew something was up when I didn't see any new videos on Kiko's channel for a while. As for Teemu, I'm sure he plays great but "...perhaps they can play some songs that they couldn't with Kiko..." makes no sense. Kiko is a phenomenal guitar player. He could play anything Dave needed him to in Megadeth, surely. This whole thing is too cryptic... I wish Kiko all the best and sincerely hope things are going to be OK with his family. If something serious is going on, imagine how heavily that will weigh on his mind and heart 😔 I love his guitar playing and hope to see/hear him soon #kikoloureirorocks

On another podcast, Kiko said he had asked Dave to not tour for the whole year, bc of his family, and Dave even tried to book hotels for his whole family, but his kids had school classes and couldn't just leave their home and travel the world. My personal guess is: Kiko stopped making weekly videos about the backstage of Megadeth after people started to talk about Friedman's comeback. This might have hurt him, because of his dedication to this new line up and feeling disposable would be the ignition to this departure. So, you can see few of his videos after that show in Japan, and not much excitement coming from him, you know. I think Dave likes him but he is a business man, and at the end of the day Kiko is just his employee. Surely, he is an outstanding musician, as good as Marty imo, but Dave only needs a guitar soloist, not a composer.

The last two albums are pretty great and I think it’s because of Kiko. I think a lot of people are downplaying the fact that he actually is composing stuff with Dave or was anyway.
