The best thing to do with these, and the GS300/Aristo, is to do a twin turbo supra engine rebuild mated to a BMW ZF auto. It's a straight swap with adapter plate and gives you a reliable 500-700bhp!

eeeeh, should be fine if you keep it NA, but not for a turbo build... the j160 isn't that strong, it ususally came with either the 3sge beams in the altezza rs200 or with the 1g-fe in the is200. people have made 1UZ and 3UZ V8 swaps with the j160 cause the bell housing fits and you only need an adapter plate, but that's right on the limit of what the gearbox can handle. the US spec manual is300 came with the w58, which is way, way stronger, and is the same gearbox you would have gotten in the non-turbo supra. most people that manual swap the is300 choose a w58 cause it fits without a modified bell housing and is way stronger, i haven't seen many j160 swaps. but w58s are getting more expensive, and the j160 is a much nicer feeling gearbox. and you get a (admittedly too short) 6th gear as a bonus.

love it!!
We wanna see a LFA now❤
so they went up in price? in 2015 i can remember clearly like it was yesterday lexus is300 sedan automatic in good condition was 3000 euro, I really wanted it but it was too expensive for me so I bought a civic instead
misha.. i think there is a way to log t he car with a bluetooth odb2 and the torque app on android phones.. for speed throttle position , rpm and other things and super impose that in your videos,
That speedo is beautiful. I'd wear it as a watch

Hm, really cool sound this car makes. Had to Google it, says it's an I6. Cool engine.
It's a very smooth engine (well aren't all i6's...)
I got to drive an is200 years ago, nice car. I like this wagon / estate version more. Cool of the owner to manual swap it. I manual swapped one of my old volvos in the past.
It's a 2JZ-GE VVTi, so loads of potential (albeit with skinny rods as stock). I have one as well and is building mine to make around 700 hp. Hopefully Misha can drive it one day on the Ring :-)

If you want to see a crazy IS200 with stock power on nurburgring check out Andrea Magilla. Very impressive for a 155hp Lexus.
Do more of these unique daily drivers, uber expensive track specials at warp speed get boring after youve watched a few. Get that 850R, in yellow, as a project dairy it will be awesome, ignore the missos constant complaining about its boxyness. Those 850Rs are crazy cool. Love to see that unique Lexus back with boost for a before and after?
Misha i think this the third time that i wrote about your cameras. You should chango from go pro to dji actio , it's much more reliable and stable and the quality is top notch..if you see in carwow the got tired about the inestable go pro and they changed to DJI.
If you want we can make a video with my is200 ✌🏼
what a wholesome episode 🤭
Hi ! It's a great video on a rare car. :D It's a great moment to watch, the car going around the track swiftly with both people in it talking casual conversations ! :) Great driving Misha and thanks to all the people involved to make it happen.
Is it possible to know which shop did the 6 speed manual swap please ? I'm interested in an IS300 sedan but the autobox annoy me.
Take care.
you could do a swap yourself, there's lots of information online, my brother also got a IS300 auto, and for now he is just enjoying the car and later will swap it to man
@@StreetRunners_NL I saw some of the DIY manual swaps. It’s well above my skills and my tools for now. And the Lexus are very rare in France especially the IS300. 😅
@@johncallahan118 yeah I agree, you do need tools and skills, but it’s mostly plug and play. and yes the IS300 are becoming rare you could also buy an IS200 but they are slower but at least you have a manual :)
I wonder if that 6 speed can really handle the torque… interesting that they went with a 5 speed in the US.
eeeeh, should be fine if you keep it NA, but not for a turbo build... the j160 isn't that strong, it ususally came with either the 3sge beams in the altezza rs200 or with the 1g-fe in the is200. people have made 1UZ and 3UZ V8 swaps with the j160 cause the bell housing fits and you only need an adapter plate, but that's right on the limit of what the gearbox can handle. the US spec manual is300 came with the w58, which is way, way stronger, and is the same gearbox you would have gotten in the non-turbo supra. most people that manual swap the is300 choose a w58 cause it fits without a modified bell housing and is way stronger, i haven't seen many j160 swaps. but w58s are getting more expensive, and the j160 is a much nicer feeling gearbox. and you get a (admittedly too short) 6th gear as a bonus.
@@givemeajackson I wonder how you would get an ECU to run that combo?
