People don’t get the point behind the whole tapestry & his past is that there was a point where he felt utterly weak and powerless. It affected him to where he constructed Rosa’s so he could have all the power and control, especially by taking others wishes so no one would ever threaten that. Now that there IS a threat, one he can’t control, he’s panicking & losing his sanity to try & stop it.
My point exactly this movie doesn’t make any since. I mean sure something tragic in his past had to happen to him, but we as the audience never knows because the movie doesn’t want to go deeper it wants to stay above the surface. Disney needs to seriously higher some new staff.
This is the first time I’ve ever felt this bad for a villain. If Disney wants to redeem this movie they should have Asha bring Magnifico back so they could stop an ACTUAL FORCE OF EVIL
Y’know this might be just my take but, Magnifico feels a lot like what Alma Abuela might’ve become if she hadn’t realized how much harm she was causing. Both Magnifico and Abuela lost their homes in a sudden and cruel way, and wanted to make sure it never happened to anyone in their community ever again. However Abuela eventually came to realize how much her need for control was ruining her family, while Magnifico never does.
Exactly! My friends and I left the cinema and were in unanimous agreement that Magnifico needs a redemption arc. I plan to write a fanfic with that premise at some point, but I very much see it containing elements of both Alma and also Xibalba from “The Book of Life”. All three of them are greatly flawed character who genuinely love the important people in their lives. I especially draw parallels between Magnifico and Xibalba due to how they both view their wives. They look at their wives with such tenderness and adoration, but their own pursuits lead to them hurting their significant others. Had Magnifico been given some time to cool off and think about his actions, I imagine he would approach Amaya much in the same way that Xibalba did with La Muerte: admitting his faults, genuinely apologising and giving his blessing for her to leave him if she thinks him too far gone. And of course, seeing the good in him once more, Amaya would follow in La Muerte’s footsteps of welcoming him home with open arms. 🥰

Dang it almost seems like he never wanted to be the villain, but he was lost because of that book.
Estoy de acuerdo
@@user-fj9cu4px1s this definitely gives out a bad message to kids. Not for the villain. but the story.
Well same here too, but unfortunately he brought this upon himself just like the villains in every Disney movies
@@andresitomaderajr5693 well not until the people were so demanding and got really angry and had a crisis.
He was frightened - and he let his fear get the better of him. Along with his arrogance and his stubbornness.

Man, this couple deserved a better movie. This simply looks like a loving wive successfully talking down her deeply traumatized husband.
I saw wish again yesterday
Cool
Whew.
That was a close call.
I see a Claudius and Gertrude situation here (since a few days ago i read Hamlet in English 12)
