Always liked Dylan Hernandez and his work. He seems to always able to take a neutral approach which sometimes feels hard to find in the LA sports media.
MARTHA! What's going on???? Miss you and Darren on the airwaves. Thank you for all the hard work you do to provide great Padres content. Also I think this is the first time I've actually seen Dylan Hernandez, always just hear his voice. 👍
@@Adam-mj5hl Yep it literally boils down to if Sasaki wants to hang around Darvish for 3 years. Or Ohtani and Yamamoto for 10. Who knows, he might want to join Imanaga on the Cubs too. Also kind of depends on if Sasaki cares about winning at all. Since the Dodgers have the biggest chance to do that again next year.
Marty, miss you and Darren from 12-3pm Monday through Friday. Can you convince Darren to make a UA-cam Channel? Maybe bring him on your channel so we can hear his opinion on Padres? Hope so 🤞🏾. Thanks for the content as always!
These 3 players have already agree to form a super team to be part of a dynasty. They prove it when they won the WBC together. The DODGERS are spending $100 million just to renovate their clubhouse the tampa bay rays can't even afford to pay $56 million to fix their roof . That tells you in what level the DODGERS are and all those 3 japanese players know that very well.
Great conversation! I love what Dylan says about Darvish 🥹. Wish Roki were coming to SD but gotta prepare for the worst. Lastly, Dave Roberts still sucks.
It’s hard to listen to Dylan Hernandez as he makes people believe he knows so much because he can speak Japanese. But his lack of understanding of these players he talks about is astounding. He is like instant noodles, checked some old videos or heard some stories from people who really don’t know him that well or Hernandez didn’t have the patient to listen to them properly. It’s sad that people (non-Japanese) ask him for his expertise with the Japanese players. People should know he is not very liked by the Japanese, because of his lack of proper research and blabbering about things he doesn’t really know about.
Padres are worse than the Angels historically, and have won a World Series, but yes, last few yrs the Madres have been much better than the Halos. 😇😇😇.
Old man Darvish with that lame organization with 0 rings ?? Darvish is done in a few years he’s going with the cool guys over in Dodger land the defending champions something San Diegans know nothing about
There's literally no one that knows more about Japanese pitchers and the culture than Dylan, who is Japanese AND wrote about him in 2019 after visiting Japan!
@@MartyTimeTV Firstly, nobody in Japan would refer to a person with a foreign surname and citizenship to be "Japanese." To see SASAKI Roki play in highschool is pretty impressive for a foreign journalist. He understand that Sasaki was playing for Ofunato PUBLIC highschool, unlike KIKUCHI Yusei and OHTANI Shohei who'd played for strong private highschools like HANAMAKI-Higashi. (FYI, the coach's son was also famous during highshool, and he's now playing at Stanford University.) As for SASAKI Roki, he could've waited 2 years to go to MLB, but he didn't. He could've played at any of the strong highschools in the region on scholarship, yet he chose to play with a local public highschool to stay close to his friends and family. His original city is Rikuzen Takada, and his family evacuated to Ofunato after the Tsunami on Mar 11, 2011. He's a bit different from other players who enjoy media attention. His MO is uniquely different from most Japanese baseball players, which is why experts in Japan cannot predict how Sasaki thinks. But I imagine following things will be taken into consideration when he decides which team he plays for: (1) As a pitcher who can throw 160km/h, would he want to play with or against Ohtani? (2) Which team has the best development plan, infrastructure, staff, and culture for the next 6 years. (3) Are there direct flights to/from Japan as well as Japanese supermarkets, restaurants, and schools for children, etc? (4) Racism. TANAKA Masahiro left NYC because of the extreme racism is family experienced during the pandemic. TANAKA was pitching for RAKUTEN and was Sasaki's childhood hero. (5) Darvish is the big brother and mentor for all Japanese pitchers who aspire to be in the MLB. You can find many young Japanese pitchers training or visiting Darvish during the off-season to seek advice. (6) Previous success of Japanese pitchers on that team. Is that team compatible or not with Japanese players?

This was a great "chat". Enjoyed it very much.
Let's go PADRES. DOUBLE DOWN ON SASAKI !!!!
It NEVER works out when AJ doubles down on anything. 😱
@jdsthird it does NOT ! unless he sees we will not stop calling him out. Then he TRIPLES down 💧🍷
@ And after that he quadruples down. 😳
There’s not much the Padres or any other MLB team can do. It totally up to Roki Sasaki where he signs.
