  • In this episode of the 7.25" Gauge Steam Locomotive Build we continue machining the cylinder covers by starting on the rear covers on the Harrison Lathe. Although a rather simple part of the steam engine, there is a lot of machining to be done from the raw castings.
These castings where bought from Acorn Steam, and are designed by Rod Burnley, they are extremely nice castings and machine beautifully.

Matt my friend, once more I am in aware that you can produce a (just about) finished end cover in 13 minutes! I get the feeling I am going to have to up my pace somewhat. Sad you haven't got a vacuum cleaner going whilst machining and I bet you didn't put any Vaseline on your hands... Is Mrs C complaining about rust stains on the kitchen sink yet? Wishing you and all your family a peaceful and happy Christmas with a very prosperous 2024 to follow.

Grum my friend, its called skill.......... in editing out all the procrastination and faffing around to get it to 13minutes!! 😂. My workshop isn't at home, so no rusty stains in this house 😉. Happy Christmas my friend. All the best, Matt 👍

You would think a home workshop would have a small amount of oil the stop the squeaking X handle. LOL

😂 you'd have thought I would have done, but the question is.... was it the handle... or my elbow squeaking?!? 🤔. All the best, Matt 👍
