Thallassamia is recessive disorder then how it can be in heterozygous form
That is a good question.
The heterozygous ones are the carriers while the homozygous ones (affected) don't survive long
i personally have thalassemia minor the heterozygous condition. It has no significant effect on my life, i have a completely normal healthy body so the disorder hasn't expressed itself but i came to know about it through a blood test once..so yes it showed up in that test

1) Thalassemia is an autosomal recessive disorder that causes anaemic conditions in an
individual. A blood smear from a heterozygous individual shows blood cell that are
small, pale and irregularly shaped along with normal RBCs.
a) State the genotypic and phenotypic ratios of offspring born to a carrier mother and a
thalassaemic father.
b) Does the allele for thalassemia exhibit codominance? Justify.

Females have the chance of being colour blind if mother is carrier and father is colour blind.
